Examination is not a true test of knowledge

That is some song... ... Cash is an interesting man...

Isn't it though?! I liked it. I hadn't ever heard the NiN version but listened to it after someone brought it to my attention that Johnny Cash did a NiN song and I found that intriguing.

I have zero idea who what NiN is ... Cash sings that song like it is his... been years ago i first heard it..

Gracious goodness! A million replies.

Deductions:
1. Wisdom vs Knowledge - different meanings
2. Psychological problems have nothing to do with bad performance (i.e examination)
3. cant remember the third point

Oh yeah, you opened the can with this thread brother! lol. A good interesting thread also.

3rd point (?)
That intelligence (knowledge) has little bearing on how wise one is. ?

Oh, sorry. NiN is an acronym for Nine Inch Nails...the name of the band who was the original artist of the song. Cash does sing it like it is his. My point. :)

(Oh, you have heard this song before?)

Good deal Edward back to topic :thumbsup

Baby brother is very book smart his knowledge is vast... but he cant rewire the kitchen light...

ADDED before you slipped that last post in this read more like the thank you for getting back on topic it was meant to be...

I have bad news about Johnny Cash:

And you post on the internet. The internet is full of sin and atheism and you are then part of that . You have posted trash in this thread .... self righteousness over flows . :eek

Mat_7:3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Here is a scripture this verse is just as much Scripture as any other verse....

Php 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

I was homeschooled, and when we got to high school, my mom started researching alternative methods to testing. There's one called Charlotte Mason, which is a literature based method. The assertion is that you retain knowledge better through reading "living" books (such as biographies, etc) than through a curriculum that is only designed to help you pass a pre-set test and only helps you learn knowledge specific to the test. Charlotte Mason doesn't do testing, but does have you write essays on what you learned, construct timelines, etc, etc, etc to demonstrate that you have learned.

I'm not against testing, but I would agree that it isn't the only way to learn. Since that's how our education system works at present, I do think it's good to be able to do it. Especially if you want to pursue education past grade school.

Charlotte Mason was a long time ago (around the turn of the century) but I think she sure had the right idea.

I've always found grammar comes easy once I learned got past middle school, but not everyone has an easy time with it. There are good excuses for not having good grammar.

I will say that making sure to use good grammar and punctuation on the internet has been very helpful for situations where good grammar is important and looked for. Using what you learn helps keep it fresh.

lol you asked her to listen NIN. lol rather not her style. trent renzor. not the most Christian friendly musician.

I always liked head like a hole.

Now, there's something that has always puzzled me. People speak of not using proper grammar at some times... and, using it at others. It's as if, somehow, using the correct words... or taking the few seconds required to check your spelling, or composing complete and readable sentences is honestly a difficult thing for them to do.

Really? Yes, those things might be difficult for a seven year-old, in the second grade. But for adults who have been using this same language for their entire lives????

What does an engineer who designs hardware need: knowledge or wisdom?
lord, I say both. building any structure isn't easy as some think. c,a.d.s is there for a reason. its a record of all the lessons learned of what works so that one doesn't have to retry something that has been done an also its show how one can test something in a simulation first. so I have been told.
