Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen." (ESV) I really like how the English Standard Version changes these two words, substance & evidence in the KJV to assurance & conviction. To me, the change makes more sense.

I love it when the Holy Spirit teaches me something that goes deeper than my surface knowledge on any given section of Scripture. Sometimes the word "faith" is so elusive that it's hard to really get a handle on it. I see a problem in that....Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." (KJV)

Notice how important "faith" is to our every day life. First, without this faith, we cannot please God, and all true believers in Christ Jesus wants to please God, it sure is to our benefit. Secondly, faith brings rewards into our lives when thru faith we seek God's help thru prayer.

Lets nail down a solid foundation on this thing called FAITH....2Peter 1:4 "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust." Ah, "Divine Nature." Do you know that if you know what the Nature of God is, He will respond? He will respond because it's His Nature to move in that direction.

My advise is to make a study of God's Divine Nature. That is found in His Names. His Names start with Jehovah. Jehovah-jireh, Jehovah-rophe, Jehovah-nissi, and so on. Jehovah-rophe means Jehovah heals. Since that's true, faith comes alive because we know that it's God's Divine Nature to heal.

The author of Hebrews defines faith (Gk pistis) as assurance and conviction so biblical faith is not a fairy tale, or something vague like wishful thinking, no, faith is confident that something is coming in the future. Something that's not seen, but has been promised by God. Ok, now we're getting some good facts. Faith simply looks at a promise of God that fits with our needs, we pray and have the confidence that we'll receive what we've asked God for because He promised. Men go back on their promises, but not so with God.

Obviously, we must know what God's promises are. There is actually a formula for answered prayer. It's found in....1John 5:14 "And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us.
5:15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him."

So we ask, "what is God's will?" His promises, that's His will. If we are asking God to fulfill His promise because it meets a need in our lives, He will answer that prayer. It behooves us then, to know God's promises.

Very important study topic. :salute

Faith comes by hearing the word [Rhema; Voice] of God, as revealed by Hebrews 11, and those who responded to His voice with obedience.

8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. Hebrews 11:8

This foreshadows the Gospel, and reveals the important principles of faith.

It is imperative that a Believers Faith is exclusively in Christ and the Cross, i.e., The Blood of Jesus, i.e., The Finished Work of Christ (Romans 8:2). Anything and everything else is during the same as Aaron's sons (Nadab & Abihu) by offering strange fire. (Lev. 10:1)

Christians offer strange fire when they change God's prescribed order of victory for sanctification (over the world, the flesh, and the Devil). Romans 8:2

My advise is to make a study of God's Divine Nature.
Man was created as a perfect image and likeness of God.
Man seriously damaged that image and likeness but it did not cease to be our nature.
Jesus restores man's nature to it original design and purpose by being God who is man.
Believers participate in the divine nature because, as Jesus said, “ I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you." John 14:20 We have been intimately united to God in Christ.

Jesus prayed: “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one: I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me."
Jhn 17:21-23

THAT is participation in the divine nature; being in God and God being in you.

Faith is interchangeable with trust. If we trust a man's promises we have faith in it. If we trust a man's advise we act on it. The same is true with God. And God is indeed faithful and true.

My experience has been that the Lord always comes to help at the last possible minute, but never late.

Scripture says for us to be doers of the word and not just hearers of the word. That's for us Gentiles, because the Hebrew words mean to act. To be a hearer is to be a doer to them. Not so much with us gentiles. But that's what it takes to walk in faith with our Lord...is to act out in faith. When we put it on the line and step out in faith, thereby creating an akward situation in which we may even look foolish...that is when the Lord will show up and manifest His power for whatever needs to be done at the time.
