Familiar with Hanegraff?

That is not correct.
The Orthodox refer to the teachings of the early church and the 7 Great Councils. There is no example in Orthodoxy of being "incapable of reading plain words of scripture without first processing them through their favorite pastor's/ theologian's best selling book so they 'don't really' mean what they say." The teaching of the Orthodox church has not changed in any significant manner since the close of the 7th council.
It is the polar opposite of the mindset of many Protestants who, with their KJV, their Strong's concordance, and the Holy Spirit each assume is the most authoritative word in exegesis.
There is no counterpart of a Creflo Dollar or a Kenneth Copeland or a Joyce Myer or a Joel Osteen in Orthodoxy.
Orthodoxy considers the early church fathers, who defined the canon of scripture, the trinity, the deity of Christ and the Holy Spirit and the dual nature of Christ, to be the best commentators on the scriptures and has not added to or modified their teaching.

The Orthodox are so adverse to change that it has become a joke.
Q: How many orthodox does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Change???

iakov the fool
So basically if you got it wrong to begin with it stays wrong.......OK, understood.

sigh
I didn't think my answer was that challenging.
If you want to find out what Orthodoxy is about then ask an authority on Orthodoxy.
If I want to understand the rightness of southern seccession then talk to a seccessionist.......makes sense....according to your approach. Don't be afraid to learn something from an opposing opinion....

'Bible Answer Man' Converts to Orthodoxy

my source: https://www.gotquestions.org/Greek-Orthodox-Church.html

if what i am reading about them if true Bible man needs to study more bible . Salvation – The Greek Orthodox Church claims that salvation is by faith in Christ. However, they differ from the evangelical concept of faith by adding, “Orthodox Christians throughout their lives receive salvation and renewal through faith, works, and the sacraments of the Church.” They teach that the purpose of Christ’s death and resurrection was so that we could become divine as He is divine.

Their website states that “the Holy Spirit is the agent of deification whose task it is to incorporate us into the life of the Holy Trinity.” They believe that it is baptism that “introduces the believer into the life of the Kingdom”; therefore, they baptize infants, stating that “holy anointing or Chrismation grants the gift of the Holy Spirit for growth in the image and likeness of God.”

Many Greek Orthodox Churches conduct their Sunday service, called a Divine Liturgy, in Greek, which is a problem for anyone who does not speak Greek. Their structure more resembles Catholicism than Protestantism. Worship services are filled with formality, ritual, and choral music. Within a typical 75-minute service, they will light candles for various reasons, kneel in tandem, kiss icons, and make the “sign of the cross,” although they repeat the gesture backward from the way Roman Catholics do. Observing the Eucharist is central to their service and for continuing their “process” of salvation.

I had no clue they practiced infant baptism. Learn something new every day. I figured that was one way they differed from the RCC.

I might have to call the show and ask his thoughts on it. :)

No, this is not a politcal thred....start one if that is what you want....pretty simple and straight forward don't you think?
Neither was my response about politics.
IF you wanted to "hear it" you would have gotten the point.

Yes it does make sense.
If I want to know the basis of the southern secessionist's views I will ask him, not a northern unionist.

If you want to find out what someone thinks you ask the person doing the thinking, not someone who has read about the person.
If you want to find out about Orthodoxy, then read books about Orthodoxy written by Orthodox authorities.
How do you not understand that?

And you will most likely get propaganda and extreme knot tying to justify the position.
But, we digress......

And you will most likely get propaganda and extreme knot tying to justify the position.
AH! Now I understand.
If you ask an authority on Orthodoxy about Orthodoxy, "you will most likely get propaganda and extreme knot tying to justify the position."
Because all authorities on Orthodoxy are knot-tying propagandists.
Now I understand where you are coming from.
Thank you for the clarification.
Have a nice day.
