So basically if you got it wrong to begin with it stays wrong.......OK, understood. That is not correct.
The Orthodox refer to the teachings of the early church and the 7 Great Councils. There is no example in Orthodoxy of being "incapable of reading plain words of scripture without first processing them through their favorite pastor's/ theologian's best selling book so they 'don't really' mean what they say." The teaching of the Orthodox church has not changed in any significant manner since the close of the 7th council.
It is the polar opposite of the mindset of many Protestants who, with their KJV, their Strong's concordance, and the Holy Spirit each assume is the most authoritative word in exegesis.
There is no counterpart of a Creflo Dollar or a Kenneth Copeland or a Joyce Myer or a Joel Osteen in Orthodoxy.
Orthodoxy considers the early church fathers, who defined the canon of scripture, the trinity, the deity of Christ and the Holy Spirit and the dual nature of Christ, to be the best commentators on the scriptures and has not added to or modified their teaching.
The Orthodox are so adverse to change that it has become a joke.
Q: How many orthodox does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Change???
