[_ Old Earth _] Fizzling the Big Bang/Deflating Expanding Universe Theories

At this the hearts of the people melted and became like water. (Joshua 7:5)

Hmm. That sounds hard to do.

That being the case means the cosmos can and does recycle the matter, and doesn't require a big bang to have galaxies, just nebula to start stars burning, and black holes to eject nebulas. I let go of the BB easily.

Ok, by your weird lines of reasoning: the cosmos recycles matter, right? So where did that matter come from in the first place? You can't recycle something that doesn't yet exist. Aha! I think we still need a BB...

Why the cosmos is relatively uniformly full of galaxies in all directions

Define "full"? The nearest star is 4+ light-years away. That's really far. And that's still in the same galaxy. Let's not talk about others.

I'm not trying to be the grand authority on cosmology and physics here.

I'm not asking you to be the grand authority on cosmology and physics, nor am I one. I'm just asking for a basic understanding of science. If somebody told me the sun goes around the earth, and I try to educate him otherwise, is he right to shout back "I'm not trying to be the grand authority on astronomy and the solar system here!"? ... read those books I've recommended and learn something scientifically solid.

Shernren the Bible critic

Shernren, do you come to a Christian message board to attack the Bible and faith of others? .......................................................................................Joshua 7:5 is about the courage dissipating because of defeat. You nitpick about the accuracy of the wording, while ignoring the context of the allegory. You found a gnat to strain at, while ignoring the previously posted verses that surely show the Bible to be prophetic. ........................................................................................Why are the atoms of our bodies relatively uniformly spaced? Hubble sees a field full of galaxies in any direction stretching billions of light years at least. Does that prove a BB happened? That proves only that the galaxies are there as a similar structure of matter on a large scale. Recent analysis of the background radiation of the "BB" cast doubt on the BB theory also. ........................................................................................The age of the universe according to BB looks to be in error also. Hubble should be seeing a more compact cosmos closer to the BB at a distance of 15 billion light years ago, but that's not the case. .......................................................................................Have you even looked at the "10 flaws with the Big Bang theory" posted at metaresearch.org by the former chief of Celestial Mechanics Branch of US Naval Observatory? There are also flaws with the wildly expanding universe theory posted also. They have a message board for experts like you to get skunked at. ........................................................................................Whether or not there was a BB, it is still a miracle. If there was, it was not when BB theory says it was. mkaku.org is from a former Princeton professor with implications of "String Theory". The cosmos we see is only of our time/space continuum, there may be other continuums invisible to us. ......................................................................................."And all the host of heaven shall be dissolved, and the heavens shall be rolled together as a scroll: and all their host shall FALL DOWN , as the leaf falleth"-Isaiah 34:4. See also 2 Peter 3:10-12. Isaiah didn't need Gallileo or Newton to tell him of the gravity of the heavens, or of black holes.

I thought I should interject a bit of humor...

I thought I should interject a bit of humor...

I should find the comic which compares the evolutionist and the creationist. The evolutionist holds up a test-tube and declares to his students: "Here is the evidence. Find the theory." The creationist holds up the Bible and declares to his parish: "Here is the theory. Find the evidence."

But that has nothing to do with the Big Bang.

I'm a Christian. I believe that the Bible is the truth. I also happen to believe that the Big Bang explains a lot of things pretty well, including where the matter for this keyboard I'm typing on came from.

But if I'm wavering your faith I'm sorry. I won't bother you again. ... but I don't think I'd be the last. If your faith is being wavered by true facts you'd better check your faith... out and over. I'll leave you all alone.

PS. Do read scientific books. The best are no more harmful to faith than Peter and Jane. The worst will open your mind. A lot.

Well, it's nice to meet a brother (or sister?) in Christ. I too believe the Bible is truth. I also see no problem with what the scientific method, and scientific theory (Big Bang theory included) has done for us. I am skeptical of what is discovered, but isn't every good scientist always skeptical? I'm no scientist by any means, but I, like you, think its fun and good to learn more about what is around us.

No, don't worry about that... at least with me. I like scientific books too :)
