Growth Forgiveness, Justice, or Revenge?

I agree with you, in that only the Lord can change a person's heart and thus their life.

But you can only lead a horse to water, you can't make them drink.
Many prisons have clergy and access to books and Christian television and even the internet access for some prisoners.

I think it would be very difficult to be a Christian guard. One has to deal with extremely violate and sometimes mentally unstable people. Sometimes this necessitates the use of violate responses from the guards and to be able to think like the prisoners or you could easily end up dead. Seems like it would be a job that one could only do for a few years before the stress would be too much.
, no different then soldiering. in fact aside from soldiers having the highest rate of suicide , the correction officer is just behind them.

Uncle Bud had to put up with about all the ugliness that can be thrown at a person....literally and emotionally from prisoners. Aunt Fran would have to pack up and go visit a sister for a while... all while protecting the right of the prisoners.... As WWII and Korea wernt enough

I have a very good friend that was in prison for awhile. He told me of a true Christian guard. This man had so much respect from the prisoners that even the most violent ones protected him. God protects his children. I am also friends with a man in prison who killed three people. The Lord completely changed his life. His testimony brings the most violent to tears and he seeks out ways to serve God in prison. A true Christian witness works anywhere.

God changed our s-i-l ... partly through prison ministry in photos you can see the drama of the change from looking like a wolf to a kind God fearing man. Another person Ted , God also blessed with dramatic change .. His little book is The God Explosion in My Life.

the function of the guards isn't to be ministry but to guard. if I was a doing this a correction officer then I would have to not to allow any false faiths to enter the facility. I cant do that.
I believe that it is even the prison Chaplins job to make sure every religion is facilitated in prison. I know that the guards can't keep false religions out. I believe it was St. Francis that said, "Be a witness and if you have to open your mouth." You can be a testimony just by your actions.

God can change anyone, anywhere. Your post brought tears to my eyes.

And David Wilkerson was not killed by the gangs in NY and Nicki Cruz received the Lord and many others down through the years.

One day in late 1977, the Lord had me in the vicinity of two of the young men who had received the Lord through this ministry. I won't give a testimony about what happened that day in a Christian bookstore in Meriden, Ct., just that because of what happened that day, the Lord showed me what He wanted me to see in 1 Corinth. 13.
Moral of the story is, that a ministry directed at one group has far reaching potential. If arms of the law are long, the Lord's arms are longer.

Very true. The Lord can reach you where ever you are.
