For context since my post has fallen back onto page 5 and so that readers can catch up on this particular discussion I've re-posted my original statement.
Firstly I'll explain that the terms are not actually affiliated with anything in the Christian's actual walk with our Lord.
I made the observation due to the ongoing errant teaching that insists on promoting conditional salvation.
Positional forgiveness means while Christians are completely forgiven “positionally”, being our sins were totally forgiven when we were saved and reunited with God so that we are in Christ. As in, our position of being reunited with God and not dead in our sins in the world. However, we're not forgiven “relationally” . in our relationship with God, until we confess each sin we commit after being redeemed , indwelt, and in Christ.
I've never heard the terms relational forgiveness and positional forgiveness. After looking it up it seems many use Ephesians 1:6-8 and 1 John 1:9 as meaning two different things in what it says. I don't see any difference between the two as both speak about forgiveness through the blood of Christ.
If we sin willfully after knowing truth then there is no more sacrifice for that sin as Christ has already made the final sacrifice and this could hinder our fellowship with God, but never our relationship as being His children. If we do not repent of the wilful sin we will pay whatever consequences that sin will bring about here on earth. This is why we need to be quick to ask for forgiveness so there will be no penalty brought against us.
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. 7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace; 8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
Hebrews 10:9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second. 10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. vs. 14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified. Verses 16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; 17 And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more. 18 Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Verses 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) (Read everything from vs 1-24 for the full context)
Hebrews 10: 26 For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, 27 But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
