DO WE KEEP THE LAW?

The first part of the verse says, neither do I condemn you.... The next part go, and sin no more. That use to be one of the most challenging scriptures in the bible to me. I prayed about it and felt like I got some revelation. So take you can take that for whatever you like. But the answer for me is this. "What else could Jesus have said?" Meaning, that just because people can, will and do sin; you don't change the standard. The standard is don't sin. Be Holy as your father in heaven is Holy. This is the standard. (It's a whole different topic, if you want to discuss Can you live in open unrepentant adultery all your life and still go to heaven) But I no longer find this verse so personally challenging as I use to.

Why would Michael bring a reviling accusation against us?

You're correct, I said it wrongly. If Michael were dealing with the devil concerning us he would also refer to God as judge.
Jud 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

I believe there is consequence to sin of any kind, especially as to our reward and eventual part in the first resurrection. To me our eternal life is based on what Jesus did to redeem us, and our receiving Him as our Savior.
I personally don't see us saved by works of the law, good deeds, or any other demand. It is by grace we are saved through faith, and that not of ourselves.

Joh 10:28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
Joh 10:29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Christ is our saving provision by that of Gods grace that by faith which is Christ Jesus in all who will believe will have eternal life. We can not find eternal life within the law, nor in scripture, but through Christ only who is our mediator before the Father. We who believe are told to sin no more as now we are indwelled with the Holy Spirit being a new creation in our inner man that we present ourselves holy before Him.

We keep Jesus's commandment to remain in His love "Love one another as He as has loved" which full-fills the law. It is of special note in the commandments to honor your Father and Mother.
In regard to the law as Paul we see all the law as law and the NT shows which which laws when broken still lead to death. It seems morality and violence,harm, and ill will towards others is still held accountable but laws requiring celebrations and ceremonial ordinances such as, "Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day", or circumcision are not in force. We are saved by grace. A righteousness that is from first to last by faith in Christ Jesus.

Paul considered the law when making judgments. Such as, "For Scripture says, Do not muzzle an ox while it is treading out the grain," and "The worker deserves his wages."

A spirit of repentance and love towards Jesus (God) and others is usually a good sign of a sincere faith love for Jesus (God) and true salvation such as," But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount."

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

We as humans will come to our beliefs and ideas either by teaching, learning or personal experience and create our doctrinal theology. Then we get stuck and will find scripture that we can quote that supports our beliefs. Yes, that makes us all Pharisee's. The better way to read the bible is not trying to support my own feelings or desires but in truly reading the scripture and asking our selves. What message is God trying to get across right here. Clearly if you just compare side by side verses one can find opposing statements. for example. Honor your father and your mother, or you must hate your mother and your father??? WHAT!!!! this doesn't make any sense. Which one is it. Clearly if you believe in the infallibility of the bible, you have to say Okay, what is the bible saying to me right here and what is the context.
If you need eternal security then you have it. The scriptures you quote are for you. No man can Pluck you out of the Hand of the Father.
But for the person that believes that can live their life however they wish and get entangled with the snares of this world and deny the conviction of the Holy Spirit, well there are scriptures for them as well.

The indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the OT is different then that of the indwelling on the day of Pentecost. In the OT the indwelling was only temporary as God chose those certain men for a time of His purpose. In the NT as well as today the indwelling of the Holy Spirit is given to everyone who are called by His name and are Spiritually born again.

Here are a few OT scriptures that speak about the temporary indwelling: Num. 24:2; Judges 3:10; 6:34; 11:29; 13:25; 1 Sam. 10:10; 16:13; 2 Chron. 15:1

Here are a few NT scriptures that speak about the permanent indwelling: John 14:26; 1 Cor 3:16; 2 Timothy 1:14; Romans 8:9, 11, 15; 1 John 2:27

This is why we go and sin no more: Galatians 5:16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Are you saying that the woman below was a Christian? If not how was she ever to walk in the Spirit? In Joh 8:5 those scribes & Pharisees referring to Moses in the law commanded that such should be stoned.

Joh 8:4 They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act.

Again quoting Jesus I bring forth His words in Joh 8:11, "go, and sin no more."
And Joh 8:12 he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life. Sounds much like Jesus' advice to the young man who wanted to know how to inherit eternal life in Mk 10:17. Jesus' advice in Mk 10:21? Follow Me. To sin not the woman must be born of God.

This is the time I need Christ the most. I flipped out the other night. I been stressed all year then finally let loose. But I drink too much at our work party, not a good move, then spent all my money at the casino. I never go out and drink and spend because I know I end up drinking too much, talk garbage, and spend everything. I been In bed with anxiety and depression headaches for two days trying to find peace. I finally got up.
