God Does Not Want Me to Drink Coffee

"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God".(1 Corinthians 10:31)

Tea is poisonous to the system. Christians should let it alone.
The influence of coffee is in a degree the same as tea, but the effect upon the system is still worse. Its influence is exciting, and just in the degree that it elevates above par, it will exhaust and bring prostration below par.
Tea and coffee drinkers carry the marks upon their faces.

The skin becomes sallow, and assumes a lifeless appearance.
The glow of health is not seen upon the countenance. {CD 421.1}

"Abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul," is the language of the apostle Peter.
Many regard this warning as applicable only to the licentious; but it has a broader meaning.

It guards against every injurious gratification of appetite or passion.
It is a most forcible warning against the use of such stimulants and narcotics as tea, coffee, tobacco, alcohol.
These indulgences may well be classed among the lusts that exert a pernicious influence upon moral character.

The earlier these hurtful habits are formed, the more firmly will they hold their victim in slavery to lust, and the more certainly will they lower the standard of spirituality. {CD 62.5}

You need to exercise temperance in all things.
ANYTHING THAT IS OF A ADDICTIVE NATURE IS TO BE AVOIDED !

Cultivate the higher powers of the mind, and there will be less strength of growth of the animal poassions.
It is impossible for you to increase in spiritual strength while your appetite and passions are not under perfect control.

Says the inspired apostle, "I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection; lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway." {CD 63.1}

Has no one ever considered Christ's example.....while on the cross ?

Matthew 27:33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
27:34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted [thereof], he would not drink.

I knew there was a good reason Jesus drank wine instead of tea. :lol:

But green tea (which I drink everyday because of its health benefits) reduces high blood pressure, lowers blood sugar, fights cancer, lowers cholesterol and has weight loss benefits. I'm caffeine sensitive, and have no problem drinking two cups of green tea. So if you're trying to tell the caffeine in tea is bad, you're barking up the wrong tree.

My SDA ex-wife drags the kids to her church where they load up on sugar. Any you want to tell me that's acceptable?

This is interesting Jay. While it may be true that some herbs called tea are poisonous, I know that some teas are actually antidotes for other poisonous herbs. Tea also has other medical benefits. I have reviewed this site and found this:
http://www.yutopian.com/tea/

Green Tea

1) Lower Cholesterol- High level of Cholesterol can lead to the hardening of blood vessels, high blood pressure, heart diseases, and diabetes, etc. Green Tea has high contents of vitamin C which helps to oxidize and lower cholesterol.
2) Replenish Red Blood Cells- Green tea contains large quantity of Chlorophyll that can help to replenish red blood cells, improve blood circulation and fight Anemia.

Oolong Tea

1) Weight Reduction- Tea drinking provides a means of weight reduction without limiting the intake of calories. Oolong tea is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2 and C, and it has the unique function of breaking down fat contents thus helps to reduce weight.

There are plenty of Christians who insist the Bible is wrong about Jesus drinking.

I have found some teas to be beneficial to the system.
Any one of us can take a verse and use it to prove something is or is not a sin. Jesus said that it isn't what a man puts into his body that makes him unkosher (unclean) but what comes out of it, such as lust, and evil thoughts and so on. I think it is more important for each person to fix him or herself spiritually.
And don't forget to exercise, your body is a temple, you know. :wink:

How is that possible, since the Bible is the inerrant Word of God? If it says he drank wine, he drank wine. He even provided more wine for a wedding when they ran out.

Back on topic: It is a pretty substantial stretch to say that 1 Corinthians is saying tea and coffee drinking are sinful... What about twinkies and sugared soft drinks and french fries? Aren't those things bad for you? Arguably a lot worse than a cup of tea or coffee. Can you eat a slice of cheese cake for the glory of God?... You'd be healthier skipping the cheese cake and drinking some black coffee.

Coffee is an evil substance, from the Nine Hells themselves...

It's common for zionist Christians to insist that Jesus never drank. I was being a bit sarcastic about them saying the Bible is wrong.

High-carb foods are far worse for you than tea (at least if the tea isn't full of sugar). Caffeine, being mostly harmless, is hardly a reason to avoid tea and coffee.

I can see it now... a serpent offering a hot cup-o-Joe! Be gone Satan! I don't need sugar and cream!

Wine, in the Bible, is UNfermented grape juice.

I agree that most herbs, taken in tea form have great benefits.
It is the intoxicating tea, that is harmful to the body.

Satan's plans and devices are soliciting us on every hand.
We should ever remember that he comes to us in disguise, covering his motives and the character of his temptations.
He comes in garments of light, clad apparently in pure angel robes, that we may not discern that it is he. We need to use great caution, to closely investigate his devices, lest we be deceived.
{OHC 88.2}

Satan has his evil angels around us; and though they cannot read men's thoughts, they closely watch their words and actions.
Satan takes advantage of the weaknesses and defects of character that are thus revealed, and presses his temptations where there is the least power of resistance.

He makes evil suggestions, and inspires worldly thoughts, knowing that he can thus bring the soul into condemnation and bondage.
To those who are selfish, worldly, avaricious, proud, faultfinding, or given to detraction--to all who are cherishing errors and defects of character--Satan presents the indulgence of self, and leads the soul off upon a track that the Bible condemns. . . . {OHC 88.3}

For every class of temptations there is a remedy.
We are not left to ourselves to fight the battle against self and our sinful natures in our own finite strength.
Jesus is a mighty helper, a never-failing support. . . .
None need fail or become discouraged, when such ample provision has been made for us.

They don't know what is good and what is bad for you anymore. One day one thing is bad, causes cancer or something else, and the next day it's good and helps to prevent cancer. I don't drink coffee very often, maybe once every couple of months I'll have a cup but I don't think it's harmful. Some are even saying that coffee has health benefits now.

Want a drug that could lower your risk of diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and colon cancer? That could lift your mood and treat headaches? That could lower your risk of cavities?

If it sounds too good to be true, think again.

Coffee, the much maligned but undoubtedly beloved beverage, just made headlines for possibly cutting the risk of the latest disease epidemic, type 2 diabetes. And the real news seems to be that the more you drink, the better.

Reducing Disease Risk

After analyzing data on 126,000 people for as long as 18 years, Harvard researchers calculate that compared with not partaking in America's favorite morning drink, downing one to three cups of caffeinated coffee daily can reduce diabetes risk by single digits. But having six cups or more each day slashed men's risk by 54% and women's by 30% over java avoiders.

Though the scientists give the customary "more research is needed" before they recommend you do overtime at Starbuck's to specifically prevent diabetes, their findings are very similar to those in a less-publicized Dutch study. And perhaps more importantly, it's the latest of hundreds of studies suggesting that coffee may be something of a health food -- especially in higher amounts.

In recent decades, some 19,000 studies have been done examining coffee's impact on health. And for the most part, their results are as pleasing as a gulp of freshly brewed Breakfast Blend for the 108 million Americans who routinely enjoy this traditionally morning -- and increasingly daylong -- ritual. In practical terms, regular coffee drinkers include the majority of U.S. adults and a growing number of children.

"Overall, the research shows that coffee is far more healthful than it is harmful," says Tomas DePaulis, PhD, research scientist at Vanderbilt University's Institute for Coffee Studies, which conducts its own medical research and tracks coffee studies from around the world. "For most people, very little bad comes from drinking it, but a lot of good."

Consider this: At least six studies indicate that people who drink coffee on a regular basis are up to 80% less likely to develop Parkinson's, with three showing the more they drink, the lower the risk. Other research shows that compared to not drinking coffee, at least two cups daily can translate to a 25% reduced risk of colon cancer, an 80% drop in liver cirrhosis risk, and nearly half the risk of gallstones.

Coffee even offsets some of the damage caused by other vices, some research indicates. "People who smoke and are heavy drinkers have less heart disease and liver damage when they regularly consume large amounts of coffee compared to those who don't," says DePaulis.

There's also some evidence that coffee may help manage asthma and even control attacks when medication is unavailable, stop a headache, boost mood, and even prevent cavities

How was this juice preserved for drinking without spoiling? Fermentation was the process of making the wine safe for storage in wineskins and later consumption. While it is true, the wine of the time may have been less potent than modern day wine or even the wine of the Middle Ages, it is indeed fermented, alcohol-containing wine.

Why do you suppose the wedding guests at the wedding at Cana were normally to drink the better wine at first, then the poorer wine later because... they preferred bad grape juice later in the day?... or because normally an intoxicated person is less picky about the quality of the wine?...

Go out and squeeze some grapes into a bottle... store it, unrefrigerated for 6 months and give it a good swig. Let me know how your toilet visits are that day.

Zionists claim that grape juice was preserved by dehydration to a jelly-like state.

Yes, there's the wedding feast of tipsy drinkers. There are also numerous verses that associate drunkenness with wine (you can't get dunk on just grape juice). Jesus said he drank and that the pharisees called him a drunkard for it. There's also the silliness of thinking that dehydration to a jelly-like state would have been very practical for common usage. Or, the silliness of thinking that non-preserved grape juice would have been practical to keep around.

I grew up in a zionist church. Zionism itself is anti-Christ (They deny that Christians are children of Abraham and citizens of Israel. They say those of the Synagogue of Satan belong to God and think of the Antichrist's Temple as God's temple). They are like the pharisees, they think they're godly and they put on a public show feigning godliness. But, they belong to Satan, the father of lies (e.g. WMD lies) who was a murderer (warmonger) from the beginning. They don't believe the scripture. They harm the cause of Christ and the moral fabric of America (e.g. they were key in bringing same-sex marriage to America, in spite of their supposed opposition to it). Everything Jesus said about the pharisees applies to zionists (aka right-wing Christians, fundamentalists). If Jesus walked into a room with them, they'd call Jesus a drunkard and kick him out of their churches (Liberals would also kick Jesus out of their churches).

It all depends on the type of tea you drink. Green tea has found to be healthy, and herbal teas do not contain caffeine.

Would you believe common sense ?

Alcohol is a poison, it has absolute no nutritional value.

Jesus Christ was trying to build up humanity, not tear it down.
