Eph 1:

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

Who are God's Chosen People ?

When I was coming up it was always said that the Jews were God's Chosen People, this was as common as saying pancake and syrup. This is going to surprise many but, that is just a myth, and what this myth has done is given society that God favors jews over other ethnic groups simply because they are jews, which surely would make God a respecter of persons, in that in being a jew gives one an advantage with God. Does God make such a difference among men ? Lets read rom 10:

12For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

Paul quotes this from Joel 2:

32 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.

It will not be denied that in the OT the Jews were God's Chosen People [as a type of the church] and did treat them differently and above other nations deut 7. They had the prophets, the ceremonies and precepts that pointed to the Salvation which is in Christ Jesus, this when God suffered all other nations to remain in stark darkness. However was this special relationship to last forever or was it just temporal and a means to a end to fulfill His Eternal Purpose[In Christ] in saving all people of every ethnic group ?

Scripture appears to make it clear that the covenant relationship with national Israel has ended with that era that ushered in the great commission matt 28 following the death of Christ, note Matt 21:

42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

43Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

The key phrase is that it is the lord's doings !

The Church would be a New People Ethnos, made up of many Nations and brought together as one New Nation 1 pet 2:

9But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light;

And this is the True Chosen People of God [eph 1:4] Also that their[National Israel] fall was the Lord's doing is collaborated in 1 pet 2:

7Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,

8And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.

Their disobedience to Christ and His word had been appointed, destined by God. This should give us a indication that this Nation was not His specially Chosen Nation...

In 1 pet 2:9-10, this was written to the jewish remnant who was called out of religious darkness 1 pet 1:18 and had become the people of God, so consider, even though they had been ethnic jews before conversion, in God's estimation they had not been His People [experimentally], it was after their conversion and Faith in Christ when they became the recognized people of God.

All Believers in Christ are God's True Chosen People Gal 3:

26For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.

Abraham's Children by the Flesh were not the Children of God rom 9:

That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: They are not the Chosen of God..

To be clear SBG,
Yes, I do believe in God's elect, and I do believe in God's chosen people.

However, where I'm sure we may differ would be purpose.

So let me ask you a simple question. Why does God choose his elect and what is their purpose among those not of the elect?

in think there is nothing wrong wit believing in the flesh.
after all if there was no flesh or material there wouldnt be much.

if you choose god then ur gods 'choosen'
we all where born and have our own birthdates or age..
so does a jew or a greek or anybody.

that's my opinion and viuew

God did something only God can do. He chose His earthly ancestors. That's all.:o

Yes I agree with what you are saying.

Saved by grace 57 has done an excellent job in expressing what he has though, as I am sure you agree.

I will toss a little view of it at you that I am particularly fond of:

Christ is said to have come with healing in his wings, right?

And those he came to are said to mount up as with wings of an eagle, also right?

And what is in their wings as Christ's body representing him in this earth?

Speaking of those elect: 2 Corinthians 3:18 "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord."

But can you see that it is a repetitive cycle? Those they heal also mount up and heal yet others?

Malachi 4:2 "But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall."

Isaiah 40:31 "But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."

Luk 8:43 - And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any,
Luk 8:44 - Came behind [him], and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched.
Luk 8:45 - And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press [thee], and sayest thou, Who touched me?
Luk 8:46 - And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me.
Luk 8:47 - And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
Luk 8:48 - And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace.

Here's how God chooses..

And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it.

All glory and praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ, God's elect, His chosen, in whom He is well pleased..

.

It is a simple matter really. Whoever believes in the promises of God as they know them in their own era are the chosen people of God. During the Old Testament era of the nation of Israel, there was at least one Gentile among chosen people of God. Her name was Ruth.

The mistaken notion of the Hebrews has always been that they as a race are the chosen people of God. But it has always been the ones who believe and follow God who is the true Israel. Paul said it best for those of us who live in this era, “For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.†(Romans 2:28-29) And, “But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but a new creation. And as many as walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be upon them, and upon the Israel of God.†(Galatians 6:14-16) And, “For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.†(Philippians 3:3)

“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, that you may proclaim the excellent virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light†(1Peter 2:9) This only refers to those who are in Christ today. The state of Israel that has existed since 1948 is not the chosen people of God. It is a secular state just like America , or Syria, Jordan, and Egypt.
