I was reading something today and part of this struck me. It said “wanting people who conditionally love is begging for bread crumbs and calling it a meal.”

If that is something a person has only known or grew up with, they will always beg for the crumbs…Or even only know how to give just crumbs. Parents, teach your kids unconditional love, and teach them the unconditional love of God, so when they come of age, they won’t beg for crumbs. They can easily discern the difference. They will know their worth and be content with everyone who does give unconditional love and not worry about those who do not. They will look at people with the Father’s eyes. Only God can love us with the purest and fullest agape love there is. He never leaves nor forsakes us. Loving God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength is the greatest commandment. But the other is like it, love your neighbor like you love yourself. Teach your children to love themselves also, because when a child is unconditionally loved, they will live the best life and serve as Christ served others. They will fully know where they belong.

Been on a love word this week man. Having Valentines a bit early this year? 🤣 just be kind to each other. Just continues to burn in my heart, what can I do? Perhaps because I’m ready to get back to work. It can sometimes feel like I don’t do enough, but God is enough and He unconditionally loves us, sees us, and is happy when He sees His children following His ways. He knows everything, sees everyone, His validation matters. We are His for life.

I know the story of the woman who wanted her daughter healed from an evil spirit that it was more about her faith in what God could do. She told Jesus that “even the dogs feast on the crumbs that fall from the Master’s table.” (Mark 15:22-28). She knew Gentiles needed what Jesus could give just like the Jews did. Like even when God fed the children, there were scraps for the pet dogs in abundance, and it was completely satisfying. I’m grateful as Gentiles, we are now included at the table as sons and daughters. He unconditionally loved that woman also and He had more than enough love to give which in her case was mercy/healing of her daughter.

This was very nice to read and I love the topic of love and as one who has as you say been fed crumbs I can totally relate

Yes. Without wanting to sound pessimistic, there is something I have learned as well. The only One we can truly trust in in this life is the Lord. There is a passage in Micah that says this:

5 Do not trust in a friend; Do not put your confidence in a companion; Guard the doors of your mouth from her who lies in your bosom. 6 For son dishonors father, daughter rises against her mother, daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man's enemies are the men of his own household. 7 Therefore I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me. (Micah 7:5-7)

This would seem to contradict Paul's statement that "love always trusts," and I need to go back and look at that again in the original, but I understand this teaching in Micah much better. We are commanded to love others as we would have them love us, and that will sometimes mean "trusting" them when we really don't, LoL; giving them the benefit of the doubt when there is no 100% certainty on the issue. But do we lean on them like our lives depend on it? I think not. Nice way to have your heart broken. All human beings are flawed, and we are all undependable. Only God alone can be fully depended upon to love us at all times. But can we seek to become like Him? Certainly, and we are called to do so.

So towards others there needs to be a heart of forgiveness above all, and a willingness to trust individuals when others might not (while still operating in discernment and not simply being a fool). But within ourselves there should be a goal to be like the One who loves us at all times, and the wisdom to lean on Him alone for what He alone can provide.
