Greatest popularity record

Which artist ({anybody in fact, dead or alive, 30 years ago to 201*}) has/had the most popularity record?

I have many people in mind some of which are Michael Jackson,

Whitney Houston and

Lionel Messi

I'm so confused. I chose the King of Pop. Houston was and is great and Messi is an eartquaking football magic. Messi is just very young and was born yesterday - yet he is able to shake the world. And Houston... why did you go?:sad Jackson :sad:sad

I'm very popular in my circle of one....

I would pick Jesus Christ as being the most popular. :chin

I doubt if Jesus was so popular in HIS place - when HE was in the world. Very few people knew and recognised HIM. He wasn't known worldwide, I think. He is of cousre very popular today because we read about HIM and also God has revealed HIM to us and at the same time HE has revealed HIMSELF to us.

So, I doubt if HE was known everywhere. (This looks like a new thread).

What do you think?

The same goes with some of our scientists. These people were not popoular in their days, when they were alive, because they couldn't get their work proven to be true early enough. It was after their death and after many many years that the world could see the truth in their work. They were already dead.

So, they weren't popular in their days. Their works are known today - because they could be proved to be true. Besides the science world has greatly improved....no more having to wait for an age before your work is tested and proven true.

Jesus is still in the world.

But of our most popular singers, I'd have to say over the last 50 years its been Michael Jackson for men and Madonna for women.

when i did like micheal jackson he wasnt like that. im sorry he died but the man was a pedophile and i would not let him near that cute baby in my avatar.its akin to renouncing my faith if i were to do so.

I didn't like what Jackson had become either - starting life as black man and ending in trying to become a metaphorical white woman - but, that wasn't the question.

Yes, Jackson was very talented, but also very troubled. So profoundly troubled, in fact, that he almost evokes more pity than contempt for his behavior toward little boys.

I can understand you're liking King David, Israel's most righteous king. But David was also very human, very flawed. Consider his sending his army far away into battle while he stays in his palace seducing Bathsheba. And then conviving to manipulate her husband Uriah to cover up his sin. And, finally, arranging for Uriah's death. How very human...and how very sinful.

God can cleanse all of us of our sins, and use us as an instrument of His love in the world...if we let Him.

Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness:
according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.

I used to say it everyday. I should continue with this prayer. It's a song.

Jesus seemed real enough to me when He sat there holding my hand with a look of sadness on His face and tears streaming down His cheeks after I overdosed. ;)

Who is he?

:p

I'd put Princess Diana on the list. When she shook the hand of the AIDS patients (even after being strongly advices by palace officials not to do it) and held a baby suffering with AIDS, she did so much to dispel the almost hysteria about the disease.

Honestly I think that one of the greatest sells was Metallica: Metallica
You might not be into a Heavy Metal music but it was one of biggest sells in few days.

i like king David as God at first used him to show me what man is to do save the murder.
