Hell

First point: It is a common mistake to state that Jesus descended into Hell but repeating an error made in one or more of the Creeds does not make it true. Jesus, descended into the Grave (sometimes known as Hell) in His body but He 9in His Spirit) descended into Paradise, a.k.a. Abraham´s bosom, and emptied Paradise of the Saints. (The ungodly, on the other side of that Great Gulf are still there, in Hell!) If you will read the Matthew 27 passage carefully you will see that you have, completely, misstated your assertion.
Well, let's put the blame where it should go: many Bible translations translate three different words as hell, one of those being sheol. And you just further confused the matter by stating that Jesus descended into Paradise, or sheol, but that the "ungodly, on the other side of that Great Gulf are still there, in Hell!" Yet, reading the parable one can see that where the ungodly are is still sheol.

So, if we are to take the parable as telling a truth about the state of the dead in sheol, then we must understand that sheol has two places, one of them Paradise, and separated by the "Great Gulf."

I believe that the true "hell," gehenna, that Jesus so often and so strongly warned about is actually the Lake of Fire of Revelation.

It is imperative in any discussion on hell to know the meanings of each of the three words translated as "hell," and which one is being used in a given text. This unravels most of Truth over Traditions post, btw.

Credit where credit is due. Excellent observations Free.

so why did christ sin? he partook in the feast of dedication a talmudic holiday.

If the fact that with that one sentence, you have proven yourself a Heretic Teacher, were all I needed to respond to I would have kept my promise and not responded.

[uote]DID I SAY THAT THE JEWS HAD IT RIGHT? OR THAT THE SINNERS WERE SAVED THAT DIDNT BELEIVE IN THE DAYS OF MOSES. DONT PUT WORDS THAT WERENT THERE.[/QUOTE]
I do not know your age but when you ¨SCREAMED¨ at me before I just ignored it. This time, I did not read the childish, adolescent, comment at all. I know, from experience that as a member of the Jehovahś Witness' Cult you were taught that screaming and yelling were an effective method of communication but if you were anything more than an Infant Christian you would know better... Youngster.

Free,
That is a great post! It is very well composed even though it is not the actual subject of the OP but I´m just going to need to admit that the first posters gave this string a ´life´ I never meant it to have. But that´s what I get for being catchy with the title, isn´t it?

I believe the greatest cause of confusion here is because of the Name of Lazarus in the passage! When I and quite a few Pastors and Deacons from around the world tell folks that we do not look at this passage as a Parable because Jesus never uses a named person in the Parable´s, confusion is often the result! In my view and in the view of the afore mentioned group, including a couple of Missionaries (on the field) this passage is not a Parable but is instead a truth and from that point the story takes on a new perspective.

Now, as per my OP, instead of fighting with everyone about this matter, I agree to disagree, after all, it is not a Salvation issue and therefore is in excess of our Commission.

God bless brother.
