Good Morning Everyone,
I'm new to this site. Been a Christian for most of my life - accepted Jesus as my Savior during VBS when I was 7. Been through a lot of phases and cycles in my life as a Christian. Grew up in a non-Christian home, but my parents thought that church would be good for their kids (all 5 of us). We had to go to church (a Baptist church) with my mentor (she passed away 11 yrs ago) until we were in 6 grade when my parents gave us the option to keep going or not go. I was the only one of us 5 kids that continued and still do.
Grew up in the conservative Baptist church and went to various types of Baptist churches until I was 30 yrs old, then I switched to be a part of the Vineyard movement. Last year I left the Vineyard movement and go to a non-denominational church that is similar to the Vineyard movement, but it's a mega church.
Love the church we are at now and it's a church that meets all of our needs as a family. I am married (my third marriage) and we have 2 teenage children (16 yr old daughter, 13 yr old son). My husband is not a Christian but believes many of the things of the Bible. I am praying daily for his salvation, as well as the salvations of my parents, siblings/their spouses & children, and extended family.
I am a stay at home mom, but I was a professional mechanical engineer for many years and retired 10 yrs ago to raise my then young children. My husband is a software engineer. Our daughter has one more year before she goes off to college, most likely software engineering, which is also something our son who is currently an 8th grader also interested in.
At this point in my walk with God, I want to have prayers that are powerful and effective, so when the Lord reveals to me sin in my life, I go through repentance healing for these sins. I think one of the most influential people in my walk with God other than my former mentor is Katie Souza. If you've never heard of her, I suggest you go to YouTube and watch some of her videos.
I grew up reading and studying the Bible, but through Katie's insights and my further studying and stepping out in faith in my walk with the Lord, I keep pressing forward and harder, gaining more ground in my walk with the Lord. It's been a challenging journey. Certainly I never figured I would be thrice married, twice divorced. I got pregnant with my 2nd husband out of wedlock with my daughter.
I've gone through really great financial increase and everything was going what I thought my way until I was 38 yrs old, then all hell literally broke loose in my life. I ended up losing everything (all retirement, my home, all my finances) except for my children. I've had to wait patiently and praise God through my years of storms. It wasn't easy.
To put it this way, I can't live this life at all without daily being on my knees with the Lord. It's so much better to humble yourself than to be humbled. It took me quite a few years to learn I was responsible for the hardships I faced financially and put my children, current husband and I through. But the Bible is right, God's kindness brings us to repentance. And I want to add, and then with the healing on the sins, I was able to finally move forward.
Other things are - I'm a health nut, great cook, avid exerciser, alternative health learner, stock market trader, soccer mom, my husband's helpmate, and the list goes on.
