How are you preparing for Easter?

Apart from the spiritual stuff involved....how are you guys preparing for Easter? Just like Christmas? Great activities? Time for merriment and kitchen stuff?

Great answer. I don't celebrate Easter much. We should celebrate our risen Lord every single day!

So-called Easter should really be the day of "Firstfruits", i.e. the first day Christ is alive again. When he arose that glorious Saturday evening many years ago, the rest were cutting the wave sheaf (at sundown) representing the risen Christ. It was prepared and the priest waved it by about 9AM our time (morning offering) which is when he ascended to the Father to present his finished work ("touch me not, for I have not yet ascended to the Father"), so the day represents that.

There's much talk these days about the 4 blood moons. If nothing else happens, I do see that people are at least taking a look at the biblical calendar and the Lord's feast days, which were shadows of things to come. This is why the apostle Paul said to the brethren that he did not have to write to them concerning the times and the seasons. But to the lost person, the Lord's Coming will be "as a thief in the night" and unknown because they are on a different calendar and celebrate worldly religious holidays.

Totally agree.That is similar why i do not go to church. Why would i need to go church 1 special day a week, when i ackowledge the Lord everyday of the week, and study the word near everyday.

About Easter...there is nothing so exceptionally extraordinary except the exceptionally extraordinary. Beside kids like "us" are psyched about something during the period. And I can understand the relief on the faces of people when their visages smile with delight: It's Easter Week.

Lexy went to the Passover Seder at our church this evening. The host (who prepared and bought all the food) has participate in them before. Lexy said if was every nice.
One thing I didn't know about the lamb shank in a Jewish Seder is that the bone must never be broken. (many use chicken bones these days)
The Seder plate is very interesting as almost everything on the plate relates to the Lord as well.
It's almost like types and shadows.
Nobody seems to know what the roasted egg in the shell is about though.

Awhile back we had a Seder and we were told the same thing. It probably crept in the same way as Easter eggs crept into Christianity. It was a fertility goddess theme. Reading the OT prophets we see that Israel and Judah did have a problem worshipping them which was one reason for going into captivity because they forget the Lord.

I sure hope it was originally to commemorate Moses having some chicken eggs with him when he was called over to the burning bush. Maybe the heat roasted them!

Eh, I celebrate Easter, but I don't do a ton for it. For "just for fun" stuff, my family usually decorates eggs (one thing I look forward to every year is eating boiled eggs), but we made a much bigger deal about it when we kids were younger. We don't care all that much for the tradition anymore, although I still do it kinda.

Did some stuff for the Easter events at my church. Last week we did something for Palm Sunday, put together a little video and some live action stuff for the morning service. And this Saturday there's a community event our church is participating in that's used as an outreach opportunity. I'll be helping out there.

I do not have a home Church anymore as there are no good word Churches where I live and I refuse to sit under any false teaching. After all the Church is not a building, but that of the gathering of the body of Christ no matter where you are. Our communion is with the Lord everyday as we worship Him in Spirit and truth and like you I have my fellowship here in the forums and also with my friends where I live. I have nothing against going to Church and I do miss going, but as I said, I refuse to sit under false teachings just to be in a Church per say.

It is an awful shame that for one reason or another, I don't attend a church meeting either. For me, it's the immoral way the women on the worship team dress, as well as the women who sing solo's. The pastor of the Baptist Church does preach very well. Unfortunately he likes series teaching. That method does not address certain sinful activities that happen within church meetings or in the members private lives.

I prefer preaching word for word thru Books of the Bible, especially in the N.T. then you hit on the whole council of God.

Antichrist is a harsh word. The scriptures give us the definition antichrist.

Many different denominations many different views just like God's kids are different.... Some suit this guy better some the other guy.... Finding a "home" church is a good thing finding a good one is not easy...

Sadly there are none around me... I would enjoy the fellowship church potlucks via the net dont have much flavor....

Some Christians stay 'babes' all there christian walk... some are babes in this area and not in others...some mature..... We grow and change at different paces... I dont think you have kids, maybe siblings? and you are all your parents kids somewhat the same yet different..

There is a real difference in not understanding His Truth, and purposely misleading folks... I know i understand more more today than years ago yet i know there is much more to learn...

I am not talking about the jerks that use scripture to rob people or the ones that play on fears... they are just plain ol bad guys, criminals ... but we Christians grow ... and can think/believe differently about a number of subjects asa group and as individuals ... I know i am not the same thinker /believer as 40 years ago.. way way less dogmatic today then yesteryear

Easter is the most important recognized day within the Christian faith. Eluding to what Reba mentioned about our Growth, Easter for me has changed quite a bit.

I use the weeks leading up to Easter to discuss Christ with my kids. I like to use this time to tell them the story of Jesus Christ, mainly His ministry. It's a great time to link the OT to the NT, to talk about the Jews, the law, sacrifices, and how all that culminates to Christ, His death and resurrection. This is the heart of Christianity. All of it starts at the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is the very heart of our faith, and I use this time to reflect, and discuss it with those closest to me in my life.

In the last few years my wife and I have watched the Passion. This year I watched it with my 13 year old daughter. We also watched the second half of Jesus of Nazareth; picking it up where the Mel Gibson Passion movie starts in the Garden. So this year I spent more time with my oldest daughter just going over a little scripture in more depth.

Aside from that, we incorporate Easter decor around my house, something my wife and daughters do. As I type this, it's about 6 AM Easter morning. I am drying my paints I'm wearing to the service today...LOL. Then I'm going to sit on my back patio, watch the sun rise, and read the sermon on the mount. I might even read the account of the empty tomb. There are two Easter baskets filled with stuff waiting on my girls to awake. My in-laws will stop by about 9AM. We will attend the service at our church, then head back to my in laws for a meal with more family members.

Christmas might be a day where people can add whatever meaning they want to it, But Easter is not. Easter is the day our Lord and Savior rose from the dead. The day the tomb was seen empty. This is a day unique to those of us who are in Christ Jesus. We honor it, we remember it, celibate it, and perhaps for many of us it can be a day where we grow more and more in our understanding of the powerful significance of it.

I don't believe when I celebrated Easter this weekend by worshipping at church and engaging in fellowship with Brothers and Sisters I was observing a pagan holiday. Celebrating our Lord is not pagan.
