How old is too old....

Sometimes the person who is in charge of the youth ministries is just too old or out of touch with the times. What are your thoughts?

Old people can be very youth-acting too sometimes.

my youth minister is like 45 and bald... but he is really cool! i love him to death! he is a rare person though. i think that sometimes a person can really be to old and "out of touch" so to speak, but i don't think there's really a certain age. then of course people mature at different times because everyone is different. there are a lot of factors to it. if a person follows what God is telling them to do.... everything will be great! :-D

Most of the youth leaders in my youth group are college age, but a few are older. I don't think hardly any of them are older than thirty.

I don't think it's necessary for them to be younger, but I think that it can help - it makes it easier for everyone to relate to. E.G. one of the youth leaders might give a message, and if they give an example of what they're teaching about, then we have an easier time relating to it.

Lets see... the youth leader at my Anglican church is non-exsistant, as there are 4 teens and a lot of people over 60. That's probably why I branched out to the Pentecostal church for youth activities. The youth leader there is awesome, he's married and has a young family, but he's very "in-touch" with all the youth. We all laugh at him when his voice occasionally cracks so he sounds like that guy off of the Simpsons that works in Krusty Burger. lol. : :

I think age shouldn't matter as long as the youth are satified with the work the leader is doing.

In my youth group all of the youth leaders are under 25. I like it when they are young. They can relate to us more than someone that is 40. We are in high school now and just like 7 years ago they were in the same position that we are in. Some of the leaders have just graduated from high school last year. I think that young leaders are best.

I think it'd really depend on the person. My aunt is fourty-some years old and she is one of the youth leaders at her church and my mentor. She's extremely understanding and "with it". Then there are other people, my brother-in-law for example, who is only 27 yet much less understanding and last generation-minded than even my parents. So I don't think it's really fair to put people in a box because of their age. It all depends on the individual. =)

That's right. God gives some people the unique ability to relate to any or certain ages or people. Though some are not suited for teenage evangelism, others may be mighty old and mighty hip. Besides, I know a few adults who are more "with it" than I am, but I guess that's just because I'm a boring person. :
