How to be free from sin Part 2

I hope the scriptures I just mentioned, help to answer for all, what the baptism of Christ is for us all.

They dont, which is why I asked you to clarify what you mean by the baptism of Christ.

JLB

The Baptism of Jesus was to fulfill all righteousness that through the life, death and resurrection of Christ Jesus we can be made free from sin being made righteous through that of God's righteousness.

Mat 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Mat 3:12 Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
Mat 3:13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.
Mat 3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
Mat 3:15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
Mat 3:16 And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Mat 3:17 And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

the gospel which announces to you that you have no more sin.

John 3:5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
1 John 5:6-12 6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. 7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
If someone asked you to explain the gospel, which is the good news, the above is what you would say?
The good news is that I have no more sin?
Where does it say this in the above?
And why would my sinning stop?

And what if I keep sinning, how does the good news affect me?

I think you need to rethink the good news of the New Testament.
Maybe we can get there...

To believe and be saved, is for the devil to not take the Word away out of our hearts.

He that believes and is baptized shall be saved, and the ones who believe not, shall be damned.

If we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in our heart that God raised Christ from the dead we shall be saved.

With the mouth confession is made unto salvation. ( in the heart man believes unto righteousness.) They on the good ground, are they with an honest and good heart, having heard the Word, ( He that believes and is baptized shall be saved.) keep it and bring forth fruit with patience. ( buried with Christ in baptism, they who were baptized were baptized unto His death and same baptism. Romans 6:3-4. Matthew 20:23.)

Luke 8:12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved.

Luke 8:15 But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

The Apostles of the Lord teach until it is made clear, nothing to be known among the believers, but Jesus Christ and Him crucified. ( as they who are baptized unto His death, shall be saved.)

For Christ sent not Apostle Paul to baptize ( the baptism of Christ is us being buried with Him in the same baptism Christ was baptized unto.)

The preaching of the cross, ( which is how we believe and are baptized to be saved.) is foolishness to them that perish. ( they who do not believe are damned.) but to the saved, ( he that believes and is baptized shall be saved.) it is the power of God.

The wise of this world and disputers, have their wisdom brought to nothing ( by the preaching of the cross, which is the wisdom of God.)

It pleased God by the foolishness of preaching ( of the cross of Christ.) to save them that believe. ( he that is baptized, in the same baptism that Christ was baptized of on the cross, shall be saved.)

We are saved if we keep in memory what is preached to us, unless we have believed in vain. ( nothing save Jesus Christ and Him crucified is preached to us.)

1 Corinthians 2:2 For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.

1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
23 But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;

1 Corinthians 15:2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

The Lord knows those who are His. ( Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not. who believed. The works Christ did in the Fathers name, bore witness of Him, and His sheep hear His voice and follow Him. ( into His death and resurrection.

There are vessels to honour and some vessels to dishonour.

If a man purges himself, he shall be a vessel to honour, sanctified and worthy for their Masters use, which is prepared unto every good work. ( this is belief in the works the Father gave Christ to finish, dead with Him, to live with Him in newness of life John 5:36.)

We are exhorted to flee youthful lusts, but to follow righteousness, faith, charity, with those wo call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

Foolish questions are to be avoided, they create strife.

The servant of the Lord must NOT STRIVE, but be gentle to all men, able to teach with patience. In meekness instructing those who oppose themselves, if maybe God will give them repentance, to the acknowledging of the truth, to recover out of the snare of the devil. ( the devil captures all at his will.)

John 6:64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.

John 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.
26 But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

2 Timothy 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Romans 6:8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:

So the summing up for us all is simple, to be dead to sin, is to be dead with Christ, and also alive with Him then, in newness of life.

That is KNOWING/BELIEVING, that Jesus Christ is righteous, and we know then that every one that does righteousness, is born of Christ. ( some vessels to dishonour, cannot cease from sin, some vessels to honour have ceased from sin.)

This is awakening to righteousness, and sinning not. He says to us, awake you that sleep, ( those who do unrighteousness, are not awake to righteousness, they, are asleep and have not arisen from the dead.) and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give you light.

1 John 2:29 If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

1 Corinthians 15:34 Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

Ephesians 5:14 Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.

1 John 4:1 Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;
2 That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God.

2 Peter 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
15 Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

So the answer to my question is — water baptism is what you are calling the baptism of Christ?

We better start a thread on what the gospel is...
What the good news is...

The above is all well and good, but it is not the gospel.

Could you explain what you mean by the baptism of Christ?

JLB
Hello dear
try to read my posts in full.
you will understand better and easily.

Part 2 : https://christianforums.net/threads/how-to-be-free-from-sin-part-2.95392/#post-1741033

In Matthew 3 Jesus clearly tells us that his baptism is to accomplish all that is just (in other versions of the Bible it says the justice of God)
So how do you think the baptism of Jesus accomplishes the justice of God? it is by no means said that the baptism of jesus is to show his humility, he who has already stripped himself by coming to earth.
So what is God's justice?
Romans 5:18 Therefore as by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life

So if the justice of God consists in making us men just and pure then how do you think the baptism of Jesus makes us pure?

What are you saying is the true Gospel in these verses?
The true gospel as said in these verses is that Jesus saved us by the water of his baptism, his blood on the cross and by his resurrection.
None of these elements should be missing in our faith, the verse says.

We can't have a healthy conversation when you say to me to cast aside your mistaken faith and believe in the true gospel that frees us from sin forever.

Rom 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

It's not the gospel that frees us from sin, but teaches us that forgiveness of sin comes by faith and belief in Christ who forgives our sin.

We now have an intercessor (Jesus) who sits at the right hand of the Father and hears our confession that we are sinners and need his salvation as we believe in our heart that he was truly sent from God as the living word that we can indeed become righteous again not of our own righteousness, but that righteousness that is God whom through his Spirit is promised to dwell in us. All we have to do is believe and confess that we are sinners and allow Gods righteousness to cleanse us and renew our spirit man. Jesus wants us to come as we are and allow him to make the changes that need made in our hearts. People want to clean the fish before they catch them, but Jesus says come as you are I will clean you from the inside out.

John 10:9 I am the door, if any man enter in, he shall be saved.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto
the Father, but by me.

Romans 10:9, 10 if thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shall believe in his heart that God has raised him from the dead thou shall be saved. Vs.10 for with the heart man believeth unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Hi,
I just want to draw your attention to your faith so that you are not ultimately rejected by the Lord. What I want is for everyone around the world to know this true gospel that has been hidden from us by the servants of the evil one.
The apostle Paul himself regularly watched over his faith.
Galatians 2:1 Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. 2 And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.

Matthew 7:14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in your name have cast out devils? and in your name done many wonderful works? 23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. 24 Therefore whoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will like him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:

A simple question, where do you think Jesus took our sins?

John showed how he and all, have need to be baptized by Jesus.

Jesus told John to allow John to baptize Jesus for now, because Jesus is fulfilling all righteousness.

Taking the yoke of Christ upon us, learning of Him, is knowing He is meek and lowly in heart. ( which explains why Jesus came to John to be baptized of him, and John to allow it for now.)

Matthew 3:14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?
15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.

Matthew 11:29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

The baptism of Jesus is His death, for us to also be baptised with Him in death, and then like Christ was raised up from the dead, by the glory of the Father, we also should walk in newness of life.

Christ being raised up, is death having no more dominion over Him, He died unto sin once ( for us, taking our transgressions upon Him, HIs righteous fulfilling servant, justified many by bearing our iniquities/ nailing the handwriting of ordinances that was against us to His cross.)

For us to reckon ourselves as also alive from the dead, by belief in being dead to sin, ( that Christ died for us once, unto sin.) to be alive to God by Jesus Christ our Lord.)

Circumcised by the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ. ( buried with Him in baptism, to be also risen with Him through the faith of the operation of God who raised Him from the dead.)

We were dead in trespasses and sins, the uncircumcision of our flesh, are now quickened with Christ forgiven us all trespasses.

Isaiah 53:10 Yet it pleased the Lord to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in his hand.
11 He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities.

Romans 6:3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Colossians 2:11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Hi, i hope you're good ?
there is a problem with your words.
Jesus told John that he and John must fulfill God's righteousness together and not Jesus alone.
And Jesus specifies that it is only in this way (by baptism)
So how do you understand that only John and Jesus accomplish the justice of God.

That's right, it is not the best approach to say someone has mistaken faith.

The truth is, faith is hearing the word of God, which gives us no mistakes to make.

We are saved if we believe that God raised Christ from the dead. With that heart of belief man believes unto righteousness.

Blessed are they that keep judgement, he that does righteousness at all times.

He that does righteousness, IS RIGHTEOUS, EVEN AS HE ( CHRIST) IS RIGHTEOUS.

In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: WHOSOEVER DOES NOT DO RIGHTEOUSNESS ( BLESSED ARE THEY THAT DO RIGHTEOUSNESS AT ALL TIMES.) IS NOT OF GOD.

To be righteous as Christ is righteous, to do righteousness at al times, is to love your brother, they who are not of God do not love their brother ( at all times, to be righteous as Christ is righteous.)

Psalm 106:3 Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

1 John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1 John 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
You say
To be righteous as Christ is righteous, to do righteousness at al times, is to love your brother, they who are not of God do not love their brother (at all times, to be righteous as Christ is righteous.)

I agree but do you really love your neighbor all the time?

The true gospel as said in these verses is that Jesus saved us by the water of his baptism, his blood on the cross and by his resurrection.
None of these elements should be missing in our faith, the verse says.

No such verse says Jesus saved us by the water of His baptism.

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10

  • if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

We are saved by believing the Gospel.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
John 3:16

No such verse says Jesus saved us by the water of His baptism.

John 3:16
1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son. 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.

The Bible tells us that he who claims Jesus must have in him the testimony of the water of blood and spirit.
So according to you what is the testimony of the water and what is the testimony of the blood.

1 John 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood.

The Bible tells us that he who claims Jesus must have in him the testimony of the water of blood and spirit.
So according to you what is the testimony of the water and what is the testimony of the blood.

This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. 1 John 5:6

There is nothing here is this verse that says… he who claims Jesus must have in him the testimony of water and blood.

Hi,
What is the real gospel according to you ?
The "real gospel" is not according to me...it's according to scripture.

Gospel just meant the good news.
What are the good news?
That's the question that requires an answer.

Romans 10:9-13
Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”

John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4
Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,

I think that covers it.
Man is a born sinner.
He needs forgiveness to repair the broken relationship with God by Adam.
God loves man and sent His only Son to be an atonement for our sins.
If we believe that Jesus died for our sins, we will be saved.

I'd say this is the gospel.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4: Now I would remind you, brethren, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,

Christ died according to the scriptures for our sins, if we understand it otherwise then we believe in vain.
So do you know how the old testament showed us the exact way how Christ saved us? in what way ?
In the Old Testament the Lamb of the Sacrifice had to first take the sins of the people through the hands of the High Priest before dying by his blood.
Can you tell us where and how Jesus took the sins through a high priest? and who is the high priest who transferred the sins onto Jesus.

If you are saved by believing in Jesus then how do you do when you commit a sin?
