As we pray for you, ask God to give you faith to overcome your unbelief. Pray for God to open your heart and mind to His Truth only.
Thank you Michael. That was on spot.
Evointrinsic, Solo is correct. The call to faith is like a knock on the door. We don't schedule who knocks and when. We don't even know for sure if we'll hear the knock unless we are listening. But we need to open the door and let Him in.
No one wakes up one day and chooses that day as their day of salvation. Though there are times in a believer's life when one wakes up displeased with their walk with God and decides to "recommit" themselves to a life of faith and service.
In other words, there are times where we may say, God, I do believe but please help me in my disbelief. Basically what that means is turning one's faith back from the intellectual to the spiritual. It is this intellect that sometimes gets the best of us and we, even as believers, sin. It's not that we are hypocrites, it's an issue of ego. Many, most (if not all) believers have an ongoing war going on within between spirit and ego. This is a battle that isn't even evident until one is indwelled with the Spirit of God.
This is NOT a battle anyone should take on, on their own.
If and when you are sincere, God will let you know in His own way & time and on His terms that He is calling you. There is no step by step formula in which one achieves salvation. This may seem to defy logic; it goes against all empirical knowledge. Salvation is a gift from God. The one key element is that when the gift is given, be sure not to refuse it. No one likes their gift returned to them, especially God. Some may even say it is a nonrefundable gift (irresistible grace).
Who would anyone want to return such a gift anyway?
Dear Lord, if it is your will, I pray that seekers such as Evointrinsic hear Your voice and respond in accordance to Your calling. As always, I ask this in Jesus' name. :amen
