I Don't Care - I Want an iPhone

This has been posted before, but it never gets old. :rolling

With the anticipated launch of the iPhone 5 this year, it's a great time to poke at all the robots who will get in line for an iPhone just so they can can pony up for an over-priced, over-rated iPhone.

  • No keyboard (like my HTC Evo Shift)
  • Much more expensive
  • More costly minutes than any other phone
  • No replaceable memory card
  • Price locked by Apple
  • Apps limited by Apple
... but robots will be robots and respond when Apple allows robots to pay them the big bucks for it. :yes

Question: What brand names will you willingly pay for, based on their image and marketing, when they have absolutely no difference to other products?

I'll admit it... hats, shoes, t-shirts... I'm a sucker for anything swoosh (but I don't have to pay iPhone prices ;)).

the only thing i tend to do that with is tools.. i use the craftsman stuff at home only. at work its either snap on or matco etc.

Mike,

It's obvious you have iPhone envy. You secretly want an iPhone because deep down you know they are superior in every way.

There's no reason to defend the iPhone here. The numbers speak for themselves. It won't be long until you have your very own.

My iPhone 4 can run circles around your (insert any other phone here).....

:waving:nod:yes

I've owned a few android phones and have to say I prefer the iPhone. Especially since I can now get on Verizon. I like being able to customize and change everything on an Android but to be honest, the iPhone is a pretty solid piece of technology. The OS works smoothly, the device is sturdy, the App store is built really well, and since its on verizon it works just about everywhere.

I do wish the phone had a bigger screen and I could swap bateries and SD cards, but to be honest, most other phones just aren't as stable.

The Note is looking pretty good, and I like the Thunderbolt, but its just that Android is just so phinicy compared to iOS. Yet I'm getting ready to Root my android so I can use my WiFi Ipad anywhere.

I like my phone. It has a couple keys with numbers on it for dialing. It has a thing to talk into and it has a thing to hear people through. It's got this awesome 1.5" screen that shows stuff in all its pixely glory. I even have a keyboard which is sweet because the keyboard has arrow keys so I can play solitaire really easily.

I don't see the point in an iPhone. I got an iPod for music. I got a phone for talking. I got a laptop for internet. And sometimes I'd like to just throw out this stupid laptop... And then I look at how ridiculous the monthly price is for an iphone, let alone any of these other silly "smart" phones. No thank you!

Here is what I have, the HTC HD7 Windows Phone 7 but I still think that I am going to get a iPhone

"Good"

Nice user interface, large display for browsing, built-in kickstand for video viewing
Mediocre 5mp camera, poor fitting rear cover, no 3rd party app multi-tasking or task switcher

Summary

The new HTC HD7, which is powered by Microsoft's fledgling Windows Phone 7 smartphone OS, is one sexy looking device. It has a huge 4.3-inch touchscreen display and is clad in metal and soft-touch materials. It even features a kickstand, which makes it ideal for use with Netflix streaming movies or T-Mobile TV, both of which are pre-installed.

Core specs that include a 5 megapixel, 720p HD video capable camera and a 1GHz Snapdragon processor are very impressive, and the phone works well overall. It's just that the HD7 comes up a little bit short on a number of things, like touchscreen accuracy and hardware design, and has major camera issues. You still get access to the cool Zune music player and many other beautiful WP7 apps, but you have to live with a few flaws that some of HD7's competitors don't have.

The OS is solid, and you're going to see many new apps show up every day on the Marketplace app store, but the phone just falls short of what HTC has been able to accomplish with some of its Android smartphones. The HD7 is still a good phone, it's just not the great one that I had expected.

Did you say: No Multi-tasking, huh? :dunno :confused :shrug

I have the most basic phone I could buy.

$10 New

I can make phone calls it has a phonebook and a few other things that I will not use.

That is more than, I need.

People, you're missing the real point of this thread, and that is to poke fun at all the lemmings that follow Apple wherever they go next. No price is too high, no line is too long. Ain't no mountain high enough. Ain't no valley low enough. Ain't no river wide enough. They must get their iPhone.

Have fun... all in good fun. ;)

Okay. So, when are you gonna buy one!

None. Never have cared for brand names, but then I usually end up with a brand name something.

My company issued Black Berries back in the day, but I never used one. I thought it was ridiculous and I used my "flip-phone" for years. In fact I just upgraded to an I-phone a few month ago. It's my personal phone, not company.

I have a strict rule. I don't do business outside my office hours, and I don't travel. (period) That's the law I laid down to employer expecting I might get axed when I handed them back their (phone)....but, they said OK and I'm the only exception as long as they can have my number.

Price I paid for my personal I-phone? $80. That includes the Otter Box. Why so cheap? Because I used a free flip phone for 7 years. Sprint gave me the same deal on a 2nd I-phone. My wife has that one.

So I look hip and up to date, but I'm not. :)

I keep stuff for a long time. In fact I'm typing this on my 2000 SONY VAIO desk-top system. Anyone want to know the sweet specks of this fine machine?
