Rom 7:21 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.

What sin is it that removes us from the Love of God? Paul seems to be saying that evil, as a Law, is always present. How are we able to maintain faith with this Law abiding in our flesh?

Peace,

j

Explain what "evil, as a Law" means and I can answer your question, as it makes no sense, imo.

"...was blind, but now I see."

Now I understand. How do we walk in faith with it in our flesh? Romans 8:1-2 answers it for me.

Indwelling sin.....isn't that a Gnostic idea? Man is inherently evil.....

I don't see where anywhere that is preached but by Paul....am I wrong?

Gnostic, no, Paul, Yes!

Don't forget: Study to shew thyself approved unto God...2 Timothy 2:15

If we don't understand Paul we can't understand the revelation of the mystery.

Peace.

To tell you the truth, I am intrigued by Gnosticism. A lot of it is clearly heresy and some of it is just silly but I can't help but wonder if a few Gnostic Scriptures should be considered Inspired. I know that the Gospel of John and Revelation are considered to be somewhat Gnostic, so who knows?

Yeh...but JM....the mystery is the hidden knowledge....that's gnosticism....Paul isn't revealing anything that can be found in the OT....Paul reveals something new...something only revealed to him....that's gnostic practice and understanding.

I don't understand what you're getting at in your post. You wrote that Paul doesn't reveal anything that can't be found in the OT and then write that Paul reveals something new, which is it? Can you provide more proof that Paul was teaching gnosticism?

The man who walks in the Spirit is aware that though he is a sinner, he can live in the righteousness of God that comes by faith in Jesus, if he remains in faith. And if he does remain in faith he will always be humbled by God's grace, thus remaining in the arms of Jesus and producing fruit in keeping with the vine.

Romans 7 just clairifies that we have no free-will. It's really an awesome chapter. :-D

Kinda...

I believe the Gnostics believed that all material matter was evil and not necisarliy that Man was inherently evil (could be wrong on the second part). According to the rules of predestination, some people (their spirits) would obtain higher levels of heaven while others would remain on the bottom. Look at it like a pryramid where God is a Sun, and the light rays were the spirits that created the other gods whom in turn created lesser gods and onward down to the material world...

Ok, I'm interested. Could you post a source for that?

Thanks.
