Jesus too had a great need to set the physical bodies of God's people free from the curse. Even God through His Word is focusing on our mortal bodies as well.
Rom 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwelleth in you, he that raised up Christ Jesus from the dead shall give life also to your mortal bodies through his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
We first are saved in our spirit, then our soul and then lastly God is planning to save our mortal flesh and clothe it with immortality. Not only by and through the resurrection, but some will be changed while they are still alive.
1Co 15:54 But when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.
Christians make a mistake to think that this life is just something that must pass so that we can die and then "live for ever" Our eternal life starts now. Our victory is now. Our healing is now. Our deliverance is now. Not one day in the sweet by and by.
Romans 8:11 is completely out of context here. It deals with the flesh that was, and still is, affected by sin
to continue wanting to sin. It is not talking about a broken arm or a bad spleen. He will give life, that is fruit that is in accordance with sanctification. If it were a matter of changing the habits of the flesh to be apart of the newness of the spirit why would Jesus have said this;
Mat 18:8-9 And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life crippled or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire. And if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire.
Why would He had not said to pray that it will be changed, or seek the promises of God so it does not sin anymore? Why? Because Jesus was not concerned with our flesh, but with who we are. A soul who has a 'habitation' in this flesh. If we want to claim healing and restoration for our soul, THAT is COMPLETELY Biblical.
NO, no, no. Our flesh will be SOWN in corruption, but be raised incorruptible. He is NOT saving our mortal flesh. Again 1Corinthians 15 is taken out of context.
1Cr 15:36-44 You foolish person! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. And what you sow is not the body that is to be, but a bare kernel, perhaps of wheat or of some other grain. But God gives it a body as he has chosen, and to each kind of seed its own body. For not all flesh is the same, but there is one kind for humans, another for animals, another for birds, and another for fish......So is it with the resurrection of the dead. What is sown is perishable; what is raised is imperishable. It is sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it is raised in power. It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
This dust we live in is not going to be what we are in through eternity. Yes, we have eternal life waiting for us. And when He come we will receive this life, but not until then. What we have now is the "hope" of it. And hope that is seen is not hope at all.
1Pe 5:8-10 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.
Jud 1:20-21 But you, beloved, building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.
Rev 22:12-14 "Behold, I am coming soon, bringing my recompense with me, to repay everyone for what he has done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates.
We have assurance that the promise is ours. Rock solid assurance. That assurance is found in faith. But what concerns me is that you take the faith of eternal life and apply it to that of mortal life.
Our victory is now. Our healing is now. Our deliverance is now.
Yes. It is. But it is for US and not our bodies. We are a soul with a body. Not a body with a soul. The victory is over sin. Sin is something that takes place in us, not the fruit that we see in the flesh. The healing is over what the sin nature has done to our hearts. We are healed and given a new heart, one that desires to obey God. Our deliverance is over sin. We are delivered from the slavery of sin, the slavery of the soul to desire evil things.
These things find their fruit in the flesh. That is where we see the outcome of sin. But sin, what Christ came to free us from, is found in the soul of man. Which is completely separate from his flesh/dust.
