Idealistic Christians who expect appreciation

Why don't they love me? Why don't they worship me?
I'm helping the poor. I'm helping the homeless. I'm helping the traumatised. I'm being nice to them. They should be nice to me!!
I'm doing God's work! Where's the appreciation? I deserve validation for my efforts. I didn't sign up for Christianity to suffer! And be abused!
Why don't they do that naturally? It is because they do not have love for us. Jesus mentioned that in John 15:19 but the reasons are rooted in their own insecurities and sin. 1 Peter 4:4 explains it a bit more.

I am still a spiritual kid really. That's a great expression. I'm going to borrow that one for future use. Thanks couppy.
We are all kids aren't we. Kids pretending to be adults. Well to some extent anyway.
We are all kids, depending on who is drinking milk, eating mashed potatoes, chewing solid food, and having a crack at a bone. God knows us all. We can pretend to be spiritually older than we are. Some teenagers do that, don't they? Yet, what they do and how they do it, tells adults that these teenagers are still learning. Paul made distinction in 1 Corinthians 3:2.

No matter how much bible verses are quoted and preached at a kid who can only drink milk and eat a bit of mashed food, they will still not fully understand. This is one of the reasons that some Christians can look at themselves and thank God for how much they have learnt and how much they have developed. The Spirit of God will continue to mould us, correct us, and build us, as we continue to strive unto perfection. Having said that, some kids prefer not to grow up and happy to continue to drink milk.
