If I could show that another version which uses a different greek version matches up with the kjv would you have a problem? The version is the new living translation.

Lets try this again..

John 7:8-10 (KJV) Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come. When he had said these words unto them, he abode still in Galilee. But when his brethren were gone up, then went he also up unto the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret.

(NIV) “You go to the festival. I am not going up to this festival, because my time has not yet fully come.” After he had said this, he stayed in Galilee. However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret.

(ESV) “You go up to the feast. I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come.” After saying this, he remained in Galilee. But after his brothers had gone up to the feast, then he also went up, not publicly but in private.

Both version change the words making him a liar "yes or no"

Jason your repeating what those versions are saying Jesus said "I go not up "yet" not "I go not" or "I will not go"

i see it the way Brandon Staggs does..

Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe how many Christians will accept version upon version of the Bible that shows their Lord to be a liar, as the NIV, ESV, and so many others plainly do, but it would be crazy to think Jesus would carry a book to the pulpit that has him breaking the law he came to fulfil.

Agree,I hate to see what he thinks about the added words by the kjv for easier reading that don't change the thoughts of what is conveyed,or gasp the johahine comma.the greek doesn't have commas nor plural tense as English does

Thanks -- although it gets a bit confusing when you write your words inside the quote from me!

And Greek does have plurals -- ὑμεῖς is a plural "you" ("ye" in Elizabethan English, or "y'all" in modern American), and ἀνάβητε is a plural verb (meaning "y'all go up").

You all is not new,the spanish have two forms of that usted,ustedes.the later is a form of respect.usted is used instead of te.which is informal.usted is the formal use of te as well.if I'm talking to my commander I would use usted,not te.

So it's a lie then when the kjv adds the where the Greek doesn't have it.they use italics to show that.it's done to make it easy to understand. Try reading a literal greek and hebrew translation.I suggest the ylt.same exact source as the kjv.yet you would have a hard time.

Yeah. Get the kids a tablet, and tell 'em about translations and the blue letter bible, and how to look stuff up.

The same is true of English, but in English "you" got used so much as a polite singular that the informal "thou" totally vanished from the language.

That's why people invent new English plurals like "y'all" so that there will be both a singular and a plural again. Of course, "y'all" has been around long enough that it also gets used as a polite singular, so that some people say "all y'all" for a true plural.
