I'm Poped out!

The Pope has hijacked the news. It's sad to say, but I find myself longing for the good old days of the Michael Jackson case (I know, sad, isn't it?).

Did you see what they buried the Pope in? Not to be mean, but I wonder how many children who had seen this on TV thought that Santa had died?

ya i sorta thoguth it looked santa like.

Im all up for talkign abotu a sad event, for a day or 2.

   But he has no beard!!!

Did you see the casket they bury Popes in? WHY???!!! They use 3 caskets. Are they that afraid that he'll get out?

I think I'm gonna try to take Johhny P's place. Think about it, I could reform the catholic chruch, and they'll have to do what I say, becuase they'll all think I'm infalliable!

That is pretty funny. :D

I heard from some group that collects statistics about popularity of news stories that the Pope's death has gotten more attention than any other story since they started keeping such records. They said it overshadows the US election by a huge margin.

I guess it is because it is a rare event and because of how controversial the Pope is. Hopefully the next Pope will be more progressive and drop the birth control restriction.

Eastern Orthodox Christians are opposed to the Papacy as it is defined by current Roman Catholic doctrine. That being said, I can be excused as a suspected Papist.

That being said, this Pope has generated a great deal of interest because he was a man of convictions who stuck his neck out to live up to these same convictions. Sometimes he was a better friend to the Muslims than his own Christian Orthodox brethren (such as in Kosovo), but he was an unflinching advocate of life, peace, and dignity for all people. He was not afraid to oppose the American Empire, nor did he shrink from the Communists.

BTW- JP II didn't look like Santa- the traditional garb for St Nicholas is gold vestments with a red vestment over the gold. Red is the color of Pentecost and the Holy Spirit in ancient tradition. Ergo, Pope JP II looked like what he was- a Bishop- as was St Nicholas.

Oh you Prots.

Red is the Papal colour of mourning.

The three woods are cedar=humanity; this is encased in a lead liner;the outer one is elm or oak=dignity. The whole thing is in a marble sarcophagus.

Everything the Pope says is NOT infallible. Only when he DEFINES something on faith or morals ex-cathedra(from the chair). The last time was 1950.

With no offence to anyone here, the general ignorance concerning the above matters also spills over into what Protestants believe/think the Roman Church believes/teaches, which is generally exaggerated or way off the beam, because Protestants do not understand, and if they were really interested, should consult ROMAN CATHOLIC sources.

I am also Poped out, and can't wait to see who is going to be next. No admirer of the late Pope, I hope and pray he does NOT take the name John Paul III. Pius XIII would be good, and then everybody would know what time it is. :-D

The Holy Father was one of the most visable, most respected, and most loved people in human history. He will go down in history as John Paul the Great. Over 200 heads of state attended his funeral. Given that, I found the amount of television coverage most appropriate.

The words of Jesus are lost upon the world.

Matthew 23:9 And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

What should be a warning for true Chrisitians is also lost.

Luke 6:26 Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

GREAT????????????? :o What was so great about him? To the liberals, he was a liberal. To the conservatives, he was a conservative. He was all things to all men. He kissed the Koran, for Gawd's sakes! The Koran has an extremely minimising and error-laden view of Our Lord God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and this shmo goes to the mosque in Rome and kisses that book of the damned.( I wonder if that technically excommunicated him ?) He held several ecumenical 'worship services' at the Basilica off St. Francis with animists, Buddhists, the Dali Lama(Hello Dolly), and a statue of Buddha was placed on the altar!! Blasphemy!!! Everyone was praying to their own god, of course: Alvin, Budd-ha, the great shpirit, that demonic elephant....yikes!!!! :o He did NOTHING about his own Church falling apart! He went to some Far Easty country and allowed some Hindu priestess to smear cow dung on his forehead, marking him as a follower of Shiva!

And this man was great? If this was great, I'll take strawberry. I mean, he should rest in peace and all that, but oy vay already. Now. they're clamouring to make him a Saint. It would be funny if it were not so tragic.

Yes the widespread publicity of the burial of the man of sin is a lot to take isnt it?

Who here believes Rome/Pope/Catholicism to be the Anti-Christ system?

Thanx for the pix, BB!!!!!!! Isn't that horrible??? I don't mean to be a judge here, but, in my worthless opinion, he had a lot to answer for.

I'd rather be tortured than kiss the silly koran.

What an ecumaniac!!!!!

And I bet the new one will be WORSE. That Cardinal Arinze that a lot of people are hoping for, has very close ties to the Muslims.

pope

I'm thinking that Fox News last week was briefly considering changing their name to the All-Pope Channel.

(I'm positive that a humble man like PJ2 wouldn't have wanted all this media attention anyway.)

Catholicism has existed for 2000 years and Christ established it himself, how can you say that it is Anti-Christ?
