Is Church Attendance Important for a Christian?

I don't think there is ever a thing as a over crowded church. Unless people are more focused on cramping inside a building listening to a pastor speaking rather than having fellowship with others believers, not saying that genuine pastors don't have a gospel message to share to the people, but im talking general church and fellowship.

Well it is a good way to fellowship with other Christians. What's I think is more important is having a relationship with Jesus. And that a church is a fellowship of Christians coming together to worship and pray for one another. And getting encouragement from each other. And also listening and getting an encouraging word from the pastor :)

The truth is must Believers do not understand how to live for God (Romans 8:1-2 NKJV). They do not understand Romans 6:3-5 NKJV and Gal. 2:20-21 NKJV. What it means to be baptize in Christ. It's time to return to the basic foundation of sanctification.

None of which minimizes the value of corporate worship. You can regularly assemble as a body of believers AND walk in the Spirit, can't you? It's not one or the other.

I think people are social creatures, and church helps build strong social bonds among believers (ideally). Of course...things can go bad (Salem Witch Trials come to mind...), but I think its good for believers who can be in church to go to church. I probably should try again, but...I got burned, so its taken me a while, lol.

Revelation 1:6 says, "And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

We need "The Golden Bells (The Baptism of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of the spirit) and the Pomegranates (The Fruit of the Holy Spirit that gives us victory over sin) Exodus 28:34 NIV. If you have two bells and no fruit bouncing against each other you have 1 Corinthians 13:1, clanging cymbals.

Oh dear....don't spiritualize things so much.

One without the other produces an inconsistency and it is a problem. To say you don't need both is doubt and unbelief which is never acceptable to God. The Bell presents the power and the Pomegranate presents relationship. You must have the development of both. These are two different works of the Holy Spirit; the fruits and the gifts. The Golden Bells and the Pomegranate is a TYPE.

I never said that wasn't but that you are over spiritualising it.

The garments have a vest, what about that ? The urim and thummin.the twelve stones of each tribe.you can see things in that.

It's the way they knew what was said by inquiring the Lord. There's several views
I take the Ramban view which is that it was by both they figured out what was said. But I'm not dogmatic

You are confusing "spiritual things" and things of the Spirit with over-spiritualizing. Over-spiritualizing makes the Bible say things that it doesn't.

Please provide biblical proof.

The pomegranates were made like tassels, and signified the "Fruit of the Spirit" [Gal. 5:22-23]; and the bells of gold between them round about, these represented the "Gifts of the Spirit" [1 Cor. 12:7-10].

I don't see the connection.since priests weren't the only ones who had a relationship to the YHWH. King David was able to offer sacrifices yet there were priests. The temple system does point to a lot of things but we err in thinking that only a priest was able to talk to God and you had to Go to them .they were there to assists and minister unto the Lord but not to replace your command to teach the torah to your kids.

Like who
The image or metaphor of Jesus statement out of the belly of shall rivers of living water is more then sufficient. The idea goes back to the torah being like that. The Spirit when dwells inside brings out the nature of Himself. The more like Him you are the more you will be like Galatians 5.in Jewish thought the torah was never just rituals but also inside and demonstrating the nature of God to men.

iLOVE , jasonc , and Free ,
There are many ways to interpret the passage that iLove brings up and there is enough room for all of your views without anyone being wrong or having to prove themselves.

We need to consider that what we are talking with is a copy of heavenly items. Hebrews 8:5 which derives from Exodus 25:9 and honestly, you can't take the physical away from the spiritual and you can't take the spiritual away from the physical.

We are all part of the same body, and while some tend to be more spiritual, it brings a good balance to those who are more physical. Together, we form a perfect Body.

Exodus 28:35 It shall be on Aaron when he performs the service, and its sound shall be heard when he enters the Holy before the Lord and when he leaves, so that he will not die.
Interesting huh? If the Lord doesn't hear the bells, the priest dies. This actually lends to what iLove was getting at in my humble opinion.

Why or why not?
It is important for two reasons.
1) The effectiveness of most ministry by believers exercising their spiritual gifts for the building up of the Body of Christ is directly proportional the the depth of relationship they have with one another. Relationship is deepened through authentic face-to-face community. Sunday gatherings should be a time of authentic face-to-face community and excising of spiritual gifts.
2) God instituted church governance under which local communities of believers are to be shepherded and to which the believers are to submit themselves.
