Is not Tithing a sin? Or is it opitional?

My dad was a small church pastor... had church and a 'paying' job until he was SS age..
As kids we had many things supplied by WMC (womens missionary councel ) a woman's division of the assemblies of God .. used but ok clothing really cool home made blankets. About 1951 dad made 1200 for the year not a typo that is 100 a month... we lived in the Sunday school rooms of the church.. that was not the last time we literally lived in a church.. what this is leading to is my mom she is 92 .. went with out many of the things other women had... and she sends tithe to Jimmy Swaggert... it makes me scream... Mom why not fined some home missions church and give to them you remember how it was... she sends because she enjoys the music and churchyness of the TV program.. drives me nuts..
But she really gave it to God...and that beating Jesus gave the money changers twice was a nothing compared to the fate that eventually befell them. If you go to FIG Electric fb page in the notes of that site there is an article explaining exactly what became and why. It's horrifying to misuse God's money. The price is exorbitantly high.

Do we have to put the tithe in a box, or can we just go straight to the grocery store and spend my tithe on the food I'm going to eat in the presence of the Lord? Or are you referring to every third year when the tithe is given specifically for the Levite and the poor?

28“At the end of every third year you shall bring out all the tithe of your produce in that year, and shall deposit it in your town. 29“The Levite, because he has no portion or inheritance among you, and the alien, the orphan and the widow who are in your town, shall come and eat and be satisfied, in order that the LORD your God may bless you in all the work of your hand which you do." (Deuteronomy 14:28-29 NASB)

.
It takes faith to give the first 10 percent, not the last 10. Cain didn’t bring God his first fruits, and he reaped the consequences. When we have the heart of Cain in our finances, we also have the spirit of mammon on our lives. It takes faith to tithe. Every time you get paid are you going to believe that God’s Word works...that 90 percent with God’s blessing goes further than 100 percent without?

1. Faith without works is dead. James 2:14-26 NKJV
2. Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you--unless, of course, you fail the test? 2 Corinthians 13:5 NIV
What test is used in the bible to see if you are in faith?
Answer...Luke 16:9-13

Christians are tested with the least in the Kingdom of God which is money.
Considering what Jesus has said here (Luke 16:9-13 NKJV), I think it would be difficult to overstate the significance of this down to earth, practical teaching, that applies to everyone. If a person cannot be trusted with money, and in any capacity, Jesus plainly says, he cannot be trusted with Salvation, i.e., "true riches." In view of the seriousness of what is being said, we would do well to heed carefully.

In these passages (Luke 16:9-13), Jesus is saying that irrespective of how loudly and how often we profess our Godliness, if it does not show up in our practical, every day living, and especially in the matters of money, and our responsibility toward others, our profession is vain. This statement is plain and clear, if we are unfaithful in these things. "Who will commit to our trust the true riches?"

Where do the Scriptures say Cain did not bring his first fruits?
3 And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord.
4 And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: Genesis 4:3-7

3 And in the course of time Cain brought to the Lord an offering of the fruit of the ground. 4 But Abel brought [an offering of] the [finest] firstborn of his flock and the b]'>[b]fat portions. And the Lord had respect (regard) for Abel and for his offering; 5 but for Cain and his offering He had no respect. So Cain became extremely angry (indignant), and c]'>[c]he looked annoyed and hostile. 6 And the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you so angry? And why do you look annoyed? 7 If you do well [believing Me and doing what is acceptable and pleasing to Me], will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well [but ignore My instruction], sin crouches at your door; its desire is for you [to overpower you], but you must master it.” Genesis 4:3-7 AMP

In other words, God rejected Cain's worship for bringing Him leftovers.

We know Cains sacrifice was not proper or accepted ,,, we do not know it was not the first fruits.. knowingly twisting scripture to fit a name it and claim it doctrine or or any doctrine is scary ... The scripture being twisted is about blood sacrifice . not personal gain.
Playing scripture games as in post #28. i see as child's play

Should Christians leave the tithe box empty for Jesus?
What in the world is a tithe box?
There is nothing in the Bible about putting a tithe in a box.
This is your worldly interpretation about how to serve God.
It would do you well to read the New Testament ways of giving to God and do it and stop adding your good works efforts to it.

Wow! 1 Corinthians 2:14
"for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement." (Leviticus 17:11 NASB)

The work of our hands in working the dust of the earth can not atone. Only blood can do that.
The story of Cain and Abel is a revelation of the gospel.

Or maybe God rejected it just because. His questions to Cain seem to suggest this as a possibility. It could just have been a test or done to teach Cain.

“I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” Romans 9:15 NKJV quoting from Exodus 33:19.

Just a thought.

Or
Maybe since nobody ate meat at this point in human history something else was going on and Cain didn't do wrong...just not as good as Abel

The Most High still wants people to do good works and live as righteous as they can, but it does not mean anything nor will save.

So if people still want to give the biblical tithe they would have to go to the only one place acceptable, the temple, but there is no temple. There is only a spiritual temple. And the riches are there.

Isn't this a form of tithing?

“When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats. And He will set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left. Then the King will say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: for I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was a stranger and you took Me in; I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.’

"Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’

“Then He will also say to those on the left hand, ‘Depart from Me, you cursed, into the everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels: for I was hungry and you gave Me no food; I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink;43 I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’

“Then they also will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to You?’ Then He will answer them, saying, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these will go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.”

Matthew 25:31-46 NKJV

Why is it only the first 10% of weekly income. Income is not increase. As you can see they are both start with the letter i, but have seperate meaning.

Why do they preach give the first 10% money but very rarely will say give the first 10% of your time to the Most High or anything else. Its only money God wants.

I do find it amazing how some of these people have studied the bible for 30 years and know many things except how the tithe works. For some reason they get that part wrong or dont understand it. Yea honest mistake.
