I was going to quote this same passage, but I see you beat me to it. This, along with empirical evidence makes the fact that the earth is spherical quite easy. Being a gnomonist, I see that solar "movement" for example, follows perfectly well with location. This would not be the case with a flat earth, as solar/stellar motion would be the same all over.

In addition, one can look at the moon and sun and see they are spherical, so why not us? The moon, especially, is obviously spherical known since ancient times.

Or they have someone who is good at writing grant requests and got them a bunch of money so they can have jobs studying this, then in a few years come to the conclusion that of course it's not true, and now they've proven it. Good way to make a living!

The first indication that this shouldn't be taken seriously is the statement "Physicists suggest that we might be like characters on a television show, thinking the world around us is 3-D, but actually living in a 2-D environment." I think any rational person will realize that those characters on that TV screen are simply pictures that have no brain to think anything.

If you take a picture of the world and use a circumference to draw a circle around the land mass, you will find that Jerusalem is the center of the world.
You can't see that with a round Earth.

Can you explain how you use a circumference to draw a circle? Everyone I know uses a compass for that. Of course, a compass will draw a circle that's centered on wherever you choose to put it's needle. Jerusalem, California, Moscow... pretty much anywhere can be said to be the center of the world because the world is on a sphere.

Exploration and expanding our knowledge of the universe is I think a good thing. I really do find it fascinating that people are going to build a machine to test this holographic theory. The article does a fair job of explaining the basics. Even so, the theory is so far beyond my feeble intelligence that I can't even begin to truly comprehend what these people are attempting to do.

One thing is for certain, wether they prove the theory or not I got this feeling it will not change my life one bit.
