Bible Study Job - Book of Declaration and Transformation

Member
The book of Job was and is a turning point in life. I have struggled with hidden mysteries for at least 30 years.

This is absolutely a study that welcomes everyone. If I am banned someone else will have to take over. LOL

I have a planned direction for the study, but I will welcome input. Man plans his way but The Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9 (from memory - no telling which translation).

The reading assignment is the last chapter. Job 42

IMHO the last chapters can help set the direction of the study of Job. Take some time and get a feel for what is to come. I want everyone to be able to get a word in.

You may note:
Job changed
The friends needed to change

I am sorry I am hyper to get started. Read 42 first.

eddif

So get started...
I Corinthians 11:20
When ye come together therefore into one place, this is not to eat the Lord's supper.
21 For in eating every one taketh before other his own supper: and one is hungry, and another is drunken.

IMHO bible study is like the Lords Supper. We wait to partake together. I am trying to give everyone a chance to get started.

I am sure I will fail in some sense. I am trying to just not to be drunk and not have care for others.

The next reading assignment will be
Job chapters 38-41
Wait for others though. I can already see my lack. 38-41 is how God answers Job. These chapters are the parable type teaching Jesus gave the multitudes. There is great truth in 38-41 but it is all hidden from creation. I will need a lot of help in decoding some of this.

eddif

Job 42:1
Then Job answered the LORD, and said,
2 I know that thou canst do every thing, and thatno thought can be withholden from thee.
3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.

There is a physical answer to the amount of change Job experienced
And
There is a NT change that parallels this change (metaphysical).

First the physical (based on the examples set forth in chapters 38-41

The 4th cranial nerve is for hearing ( one for the left hemisphere and one for the right hemisphere).

When Job switched to seeing he used the
2nd nerve (optic for vision)
And
3rd , 4th and 6th for eye movement control (directed vision).

So Job did not have just a little change in comprehension, but a huge change.
Input from others is welcome. I am not an A&P
Person (trained in anatomy and physiology).

Next metaphysical change.

Read and ready whenever others are.

Job 42:5 I had heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear; but now mine eye seeth Thee;
Here comes the first person filled with new wine already. I was writing while you were posting , I guess.

I have finally sobered up enough to try and teach this. Not from alcohol but the symbolism of Job had me elated.

Help me by asking what do you mean on subjects. I have watched rolling eyes for years, and know full well that my feeble attempts leave a lot to be desired.

Did everyone get the 24 / 12 pair of cranial nerves? Did anyone get any part of it? Some may say who cares. Romans 1:19-20 suggests that all men can learn from creation (after Jesus especially).

Our first experiences with the law are about symbols. We hear religious sounding phrases, and see religious symbols, but the inner man does not have Holy Spirit inside ( to sup with him and he with us). Revelation 3:20

Ephesians 1:18
The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

II Corinthians 3:9
For if the ministration of condemnation beglory, much more doth the ministration of righteousness exceed in glory

Creation humbled Job. The law which condemns has a glory, but the righteousness in Christ Jesus exceeds both.

Metaphysics or just something greater than Solomon. Mind of Christ. Holy Spirit .

I use Job to help understand symbols, but go on past symbols.

eddif

John 3:8
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Lots of difference in hearing and directed sight,

Did everyone get the 24 / 12 pair of cranial nerves?
I didn't see 24/12 pair. Please explain.
Did anyone get any part of it?
I think I did. But I was only considering the physical observations and selfishly thinking about how I do and don't learn.
God gave Job so many visuals of His creative power, it had to be quite overwhelming to his senses. What does one do with all that? In my mind I can't see how it could not effect his inner man. Rather like Paul being caught up into the third heaven. In both cases an awakening to who God is and what He can and does do. Truly everything is His and only exists because of Him.

Hebrews 1:1
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,
2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by hisSon, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds

I am sure Job had to think long and hard to get much out of chapters 38-41. I have spent decades in symbolism and it is time to help others.
I could just brush across some of this and move on, but knowledge is increasing in these last days.

I Peter 1:10
Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

I know the awesome task of doing this Job study. I am dealing with at least 3 levels of symbolism using one OT book:
I. Creation symbolism
II. The symbolism of Jobs experience
III. The symbolism of the Law (prayers and offerings of Job).

Then we will look at the reality of the inner man you outlined. The concept of moving from one level to another is in Job. By extension we will go through :
1. Repentance (next verses)
2. Salvation (symbolism on several levels )
3. Holy Spirit

We will be looking at our adversary the dragon in 38-41 and the power that is beyond us to defeat him. Once we see the progression from level to level we extend the concept to other levels.

Slow me down as necessary. Ask for a time out.

You have already been exposed to some of this ; others are probably about to be in overload.

May all eyes be open.

Sorry about the 24 cranial nerves missing the mark. We are born with 12 pair of cranial nerves. Our senses function through these nerves. Touch, taste, feeling, smell, hearing, sight, etc.. If we give 8% value to each pair ( I doubt that is accurate). We can at least make progress. Job went from 8% comprehension to 32% comprehension not counting the gains of being able to direct vision / thoughts .

To complicate this. Satan loves to use our senses to steal our ability to relate to God. Food, money, flesh desires, pride / fame (abstract). Lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh and pride of life all hurt us. We have to cut off about 12 of our 24 cranial nerves (by Holy Spirit working in us). The new Jerusalem has 12 gates (only good enters the new born again man).

eddif

When Israel was leaving the wilderness wandering, faith was needed to enter Canan. Because we have read. Job before, we know the power of satan is going to try and wreck his life. We are well able to study one little OT book. It will take us all though; knowing 2 1/2 tribes want to remain on the other side of Jordan.

eddif

The imagery God speaks in Job 38-41 is physical creation imagery. Our being made in the image of God has physical components. The liver, kidneys, heart are all mentioned,

Immersion is a way to teach a foreign language. God
spoke to Job in creation symbols (for the most part). I am basically pushing the same way.

If any would like an aside: identify the eternal life symbols in Job 42. I have discussed it several times .

eddif

We are born with 12 pair of cranial nerves
OK. Our memory can be triggered by our senses. We need to be aware that they could lead us down a path we should not return to.
knowing 2 1/2 tribes want to remain on the other side of Jordan.
I must be confused. Joshua and Caleb were the only grasshoppers willing to go on. What are you referring to here?
identify the eternal life symbols in Job 42
Job 42:5 I had heard of Thee by the hearing of the ear; but now mine eye seeth Thee;
Job 42:6 Wherefore I abhor my words, and repent, seeing I am dust and ashes.
Job 42:10 And the LORD changed the fortune of Job, when he prayed for his friends; and the LORD gave Job twice as much as he had before.
I wouldn't call these symbols but things that are necessary to our salvation.

But what are the symbols that you see in Job 42?

Nice interesting book Job. Relates Job's experience directly to the multitudes experience under the teaching of Jesus. Jesus only taught the multitudes parables. The multitudes did not get the private teaching the disciples did. Joshua and Caleb believed God in spite of circumstances they faced. The multitudes Jesus taught would have died in their unbelief if the later teaching of the apostles had not shown them Jesus provided salvation through his sacrifice on the cross. Job's righteousness came by deceleration of believing God just like Abraham.

All the offspring of those who perished in the wilderness did enter the promised land. All those of the multitude Jesus taught, who later believed, would have eternal life (if they received the gospel). The unbelievers Jesus faced had a second chance (in their lifetime) at belief (as did their offspring).

Now we must discover how all who perished in the wilderness received their second chance. Those who went into Abraham's bosom were preached the gospel by Jesus in paradise / Abraham's bosom.
I Peter 3:19
By which also he went and preached unto the spirits in prison;

Jesus (IMHO) offered salvation to all previous generations while they were in the grave. The grave is not inactive but active. The parable of the rich man and Lazarus shows communication in the grave (Abraham's place). Just as the book of Job is full of symbolism so is much of the rest of the bible. There was just one trip into Abraham's bosom though. Today is the day of salvation.

Jesus was the first grasshopper to escape the grave. Belief in him brings eternal life (through the preaching of the gospel today).

Eternal life in Job 42. Even that has to be removed from symbolism. When Job receives twice as much (after Job is transformed from the temptation of satan, using his friends words). He just gets the same number of children back. His dead, but prayed for children are safe in Abraham's bosom. The eternally saved children are added to the new children to arrive at twice the children. We will get there in the rest of chapter 42.

Deborah13 you are getting flash aheads of what we will all go over later. If you do not understand, it seems like i will be all alone. Everyone forsook Jesus. I am not Jesus. It is not about eddif, but about taking a complex book and extracting much truth from it.

Did I help any? We will get there.

Job 42:6
Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
7 And it was so, that after the LORD had spoken these words unto Job, the LORD said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
8 Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.

Verse 6 after the nature lesson of Job 38-41 Job repented.
Romans 1:18-20
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

In showing Job nature; Job was condemned. All men are under condemnation by the revelation in nature. Does not Job support Romans 1:18 ? It does.

Verse 7-8
This is a major revelation needed to study the book of Job. Everything the friends will say is wrong. This will include the condemnation of Job for being self righteous IMHO ( but I am open to discussion ). Satan used the friends of Job (just like he used the serpent to tempt Eve).

When we make it to chapter 1, we will not to accept anything the friends say. We will also especially know the friends doctrinal statements are heresy / wrong.

We will also know that Job always spoke truth (no matter how many times church tradition has said: Job was righteous in his own eyes). God declared Job righteous.

I expect to hear comments / questions. We may have discussion at this point.

Your study should be interesting. I just returned after eight days without a computer and hope to be able to keep up with your thoughts, along with attempting to play catch up on many email notifications. Blessings in Christ Jesus. :)

Welcome Eugene.

We even have a history on this subject. See below. I sure need some discussion going on.
There are always differing viewpoints on things. I will be pushy on the natural in Job, but that does not mean that you might not see something in Job I missed. If we avoid the (is so ) (is not ) we will do great.
Answer all the email stuff and come on back.

When reading OT scripture, we always have to listen to hear the voice of Jesus off in the future (shadows are being cast).
Acts 8:34
And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?

The passage was Isaiah 53:7
Acts 8:35
Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.

It really makes you search to hear Jesus say:
Matthew 27:46
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?

When we hear Job seek to speak with God, it sounds a lot like Jesus. Jesus as the Son of God felt like he had a lack in understanding with the Father. He had taken on mortal flesh.

Job got a nebulous communication from nature, but Eliphaz gets a more knowledgable discourse from God. In our day we know what happened behind the scenes, but Job had to deal with hidden talk. Jesus quotes scripture, but wonders at being forsaken (?). Symbolism / types / shadows are rough to get through at times.

The book of Job is not all about just Job the man.
