Joel Osteen, good or bad

Did I wake up in a bad mood?
No.
But after spending the last 2 days trying to tell people this thread I started was all about the OP, I did wake up to the 2 posts above mine.

Yeah, it can do that to you if you let it. I used to get frustrated at peoples responses at times, but have learned to think of them as just unknowing and in a different place in their walk. Like a child brother, you wouldn't get mad at a child for a weird response to a question would you? They just haven't been taught yet and learned certain things. Still brothers and sisters in the Lord though, for the most part. :)

Thank you Edward, I needed to hear that.

Most of them he probably just found on the internet and christian forums, to keep the service running. lol.
Not trying to pick on you, just a word of caution for all of us, but wouldn't this be speculating and therefore un-biblical? We have to be careful about pumping our own chests at the expense of another. I've already indicated that I don't have a warm fuzzy about Mr. Osteen but I will try not to use my feelings about him as a launching pad for my own pride.

He is a very inspirational guy, makes me feel good every time I watch him. He looks in the camera and says "Whatever you can think? God can think bigger!!". A great message of hope, but just remember that when Christ sent out the disciples he told them to not take a bag, or staff, or money, that God would provide for them.

I want the TRUTH, even if that truth means destroying my feelings and my perception of the reality I live in.

According to 60 MINUTES, Osteen's ministry rakes in over $73,000,000 a year. His brother, sister and mother are all minister's in his church—a family operated cash cow. In his new book, "Become A Better You," Osteen's 7 principles for becoming a better you don't mention God or Jesus Christ even once. This is apostasy. Joel Osteen is the pastor of Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas.

Joel Osteen is the fulfillment of God's warning to us in 2nd Timothy 4:3... "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears." Joel Osteen is no man of God; but rather, an imposter who appeases the neo-evangelical apostates of our time. Osteen's sermonettes and books are nothing more than secular self-help guides. Osteen is no better than modern psychologists, who completely avoid the issue of sin as the root of man's problems. Osteen avoids controversial subjects such as sin, condemnation, judgment, Hellfire and the wrath of God.

Psalm 119: 99-101
99 I am wiser than all my teachers,
because I think about your rules.
100 I have more understanding than the elders,
because I follow your orders.
101 I have avoided every evil way
so I could obey your word./

We are to double/triple check everything for ourselves. Take no mans word for anything.

I was thinking earlier "I would rather be kicked in the throat with a cleat by Truth than to be tickled by the feathers of deception".

I think Joel is s member of the Body and is serving s role within the Body.

Ask the question of yourself. Are you good or bad? What if we put your nsme on trial? How eould your name and life fair when being judged by your piers?.. Even on this very forum?

I don't know enough about Joel Osteen (or most popular teachers, really) to make a judgment call, but...

...stovebolts is right. I think a lot of teachers and preachers get picked on and "exposed" and criticized for no particularly good reason.

I would be castigated for some of the things only you know. sadly.while I don't care for osteen' style. it would best to go to his church and see if he does indeed teach lies, but he is way to soft on some issues imho. is it to hard to ask for a fair trial. I believe that is akin to bearing false witnessing.

Did he learn martial arts?. I know there are invisable power hits when they build energy and knock people over without even touching them painless, i have seen it been done, but it takes like a high dan in blackbelt to achieve it and alot of meditation i guess, and the other person or people must also believe in it. Like a hypnotism. Its more just the mind playing tricks than anything.

If they get the opponent in the right frame of mind, they will believe it and fall over. Its all just in the mind.

I don't know much about Benny Hinn, but all I can think when reading your post was...oh ye of little faith! The Holy Spirit is alive and well brother, and on the job. He could knock you off your feet if He wanted too. :yes

I too don't know much about Benny Hinn but with what little I've seen I have been left with the impression that there is just way too much drama in what he is doing on stage and it is intended more to bring glory to Benny instead of glory to God. Just my opinion but I agree with what you say Edward. The Holy Spirit can do great things when the time is right for sure. Amen!

For sure brother, there are probably many people who put on a facade for the money, even to plant ringers in the crowd. But this is no way would detract from the truth or power of the Spirit. It's like everything else. Some's true and some's not.

Joh 20:29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

Me of little faith. I dont need another person to hypontize me in order for the holy spirit to knock me off my feet. The Holy spirit is powerful enough to do it own job. It does not need a mere mans helps to knock me out. I was knocked out the second i personally asked the Lord for help while in my own space. 3 days i did not sleep and was fully tormented in a daze. I even lost my Job and was relocated over 500 miles away.

Now ya cant delete it :)
