Bible Study John 17 (focusing on vs. 2)

Is God your Father? Is He any less your Father then He is the Father of the 12

Joh 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

Joh 8:43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.

Joh 8:44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

Joh 8:47 He that is of God heareth God's words: ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God.

Thanks for the kind words....

Greetings Mike,

Thanks for the explaination. I'm often befuddled as I try to think about God. I'll straight up admit it. Especially when I want to conform my life to following Him. Sometimes (often) I just don't get it. Then, later... the light comes on and He brings something to me that causes me to understand in a new way.

Pro 20:24 KJV - Man's goings [are] of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?
When we speak of those whom He foreknew and consider if His knowledge has affect on our choice? It's outside our realm automatically. It's slightly off topic maybe but I like to think in terms of God being Jesus' Father and wanting to do right by Him. The Bible speaks of believers the "body of Christ" and I know you know but also about parables of the wedding feast and the marriage of the Lamb. The part I like to think about is how His God is His Good Father... and how He's gonna do right by His son and conform us by the Living Word and by His Holy Spirit into that which was promised to Jesus.

When my Point-of-View shifts from me to the Lord, and His the Promise made to the sinless one, the one who exchanged his life for us, my hope soars. Jesus kept all those who were given to Him by the Father, save the one --and that in order for all scripture to be fulfilled. His faithfulness and His fidelity is my inheritance. We become His "promised land."

Hsa 2:19 KJV - And I will betroth thee unto me for ever; yea, I will betroth thee unto me in righteousness, and in judgment, and in lovingkindness, and in mercies.Hsa 2:20 KJV - I will even betroth thee unto me in faithfulness: and thou shalt know the LORD.

We get to learn of God by looking at Jesus who took our form and who sent His Spirit to us for this very purpose. I still get over-filled when I try to think about it. Worship and thanks and praise is our right response. I'm sorry that I get lost in words trying to express this and trust you to understand without my saying well.
