Jesus came for 3 reasons maam. First and foremost he said: (Luke 4:43) . . .“I must also declare the good news of the Kingdom of God to other cities, because for this I was sent.”
Yes, of course.
This would fulfill the Abrahamic Covenant and the Davidic Covenant.
In the Abrahamic Covenant we see that God wanted to call a people unto Himself.
A people through which all nations would be blessed.
This people were to prepare the earth for the coming Messiah that would set up the Kingdom of God here on earth.
This is an unconditional covenant - it will come about without being conditioned on man's actions or approvals. It is unilateral, and will be accomplished.
Genesis 12:1-3
1The LORD had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.
2I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others.
3I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
Genesis 15:18-21
Genesis 17:1-14
This is the basic information for the Abrahamic Covenant...there's much more.
Jesus meant to make a change in mankind...it was not only to be internal - salvation - but external, by the Christians actions and good deeds, Jesus meant for the earth to be a better place. He meant for mankind to be changed from the inside out and He meant for this to benefit not only ourselves, but all of humankind around us. Jesus wanted our world to be a better world.
Matthew 5:13
13“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.
14“You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
The Davidic Covenant states that Jesus will be the King of the earthly Kingdom.
There is a spiritual Kingdom all around us.
It is meant to create a better world for everyone.
He came to ransom us from inherited sin: (1 Corinthians 15:22) . . .For just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive.
And one that most people do not think of to prove that perfect man does not have to sin:
(1 Peter 2:21, 22) 21 In fact, to this course you were called, because even Christ suffered for you, leaving a model for you to follow his steps closely. 22 He committed no sin. . .
This is the 2nd reason and requires no further comment.
This could be extensive maam, but you no doubt are aware that Jesus would return to heaven and sit at the right hand of God for a period of time. He was to be the next King over God's people. The prophecy in Daniel 4 gave the time. We believe that time started when the last King (Zedekiah) was removed from Israel's throne. Jesus stated that time was still going on while he was on earth Luke 21:24. It would end then when he was appointed as King Mat 24:3. The Kingdom is coming to earth Mat 6:10, and clearly is not here yet, remember the last days from Jesus' enthronement until his return for the battle would be up to a generations life span Mat 24:34, we are very close.
If you agree we are in the last days, then yes the citizens are being gathered Isa 2:2-4
The above speaks about the New Jerusalem. We all agree on this - perhaps some small details are different, I really don't know. Jesus will reign on the New Earth after the end.
And I do NOT mean that the citizens are being gathered.
I mean what I stated as the reason number 1 at the beginning of this post.
The Kingdom of God exists now and here.
Christianity did make the world a better place after much darkness.
