Learning from the Holy Spirit or man?

Rick W said:
I don't disagree. But when someone claims a "mystery" has been revealed to them or a very select few to support what one wants to believe because the other believer doesn't agree then that's going a bit too far.
Seems to be the modus operandi for most false teachings.... :nono
The scriptures are kept shrouded in languages that the common man didnt speak for centuries in some places, then when we finally have a bible we can read the game just turns to 'you can read it, but you just cant understand it' :nono
When I hear someone claiming they know the "mystery" or the "hidden" things that others don't a red flag goes up pronto.
Its sad that so many brethren fall for the nonsense however.
So many wolves out there claiming to know some mystery and a multitude fall under their demonic spell.

2 Corinthians 4:4

2Co 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
2Co 4:4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

hidden? From who?
"to them that are lost:"
Amen.
And the lights come on when one comes to Christ.
It does for the Jew who had been blinded...and for the gentile who was blind by his nature.
But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is removed in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their heart.
But whenever one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.

Eph 3:1 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
Eph 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward:
Eph 3:3 How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
Eph 3:4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
Eph 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
Eph 3:6 That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:
Eph 3:7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power.
Eph 3:8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;
Eph 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:

Paul is speaking of the reconciliation of Jew and Gentile. In that past God was revealed only to the Jews.
Paul is VERY clear that this is what he's speaking about...we gentiles are made into ONE NEW MAN along with our Jewish brothers.
Ephesians is my favorite NT letter...a very beautiful writing by Paul and its sad that some seek to pervert its message.

And you He made alive, being dead in transgressions and sins, in which you once walked according to the age of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit which is now working in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the senses, and were by nature children of wrath, as also the rest.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and seated us together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus, that in the coming ages He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. For we are His handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

Therefore remember that you, once Gentiles in the flesh--who are called Uncircumcision by what is called the Circumcision made by hands in the flesh-- that at that time you were apart from Christ, being estranged from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, not having hope and atheists in the world.

But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far away have come to be near by the blood of Christ. For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and who destroyed the dividing wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that He might create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, putting to death the enmity in Himself. And having come, He preached peace to you who were far away and to those near.
Because through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. So then, you are no longer strangers and aliens, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, being built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a habitation of God in the Spirit.

I believe I understand this mystery and,,,indeed most Christians dont nor will they ever....
Seems that a FEW of us just MAY have figured it out, friend.... :nono

Dispensation or economy is far more congenial to the scope of the apostle’s declaration in this place; he wished to show them the economy of that mystery of bringing Jews and Gentiles to salvation by faith in Christ Jesus, which God from the beginning of the world had kept hidden in his own infinite mind, and did not think proper to reveal even when he projected the creation of the world, which had respect to the economy of human redemption. And although the world was made by Jesus Christ, the great Redeemer, yet at that period this revelation of the power of God, the design of saving men, whose fall infinite wisdom had foreseen, was not then revealed. This reading Griesbach has received into the text.

It is important to realize....there are MYSTERIES. More than one.

The Holy Spirit still reveals things to people.

I used to believe that New Jerusalem was an actual city. Now I know it's not, it's the bride i.e. people. The HS showed me that about a year ago.

I used to think the great star was a meteor, and that it was going to pollute the water supplies. Now I know it's not. It's Satan, who falls on people and causes them to become bitter. The HS showed me that about a year or so ago also.

Not new to some people but it was def. new to me. So I'd say He still reveals. Of course not everything is a revelation from Him. They can come from the mind or the devil also.

One point I can agree with....Its not anything new...
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Hearken not unto the words of the prophets that prophesy unto you: they make you vain: they speak a vision of their own heart, and not out of the mouth of the LORD.
(Jeremiah 23:16 KJV)

Seeing these things is such a blessing Jeff. It opens Scripture and is a new adventure each day in the Word. It is truly Divinely inspired.

I'll believe its inspired when you can prove that it is.
Till then, as far as Im concerned, you are simply one more in a long line of people bent in distorting the intents of scriptures.

I have pearls to offer. The question is...will others recognize their value or trample them and turn again and rend?

Boy, some of you are REALLY good at twisting and perverting every word you see.
HOw about this....read my posts on this forum...then go take a look at my beliefs as presented on my website.

Then come back here and ask me this question again.

Much of what Ive seen has been not much more than your own vain imagination reading things into Gods word that arent there, nor what they intend to say.
So what I see are somewhat shy of 'pearls'.

The question is...will others recognize their value or trample them and turn again and rend?
Play the martyr complex with someone who may actually be willing to fall for it.
As Ive said many times, not even an angel out of heaven gets past the test....ID and proof of insurance, please.

Perhaps in your zeal you misspoke?

Oh, I'm no martyr. And, you have just answered the question about having the ability to see the value of what we have discussed. I just read another thread which quoted the following scripture. It applies here....

"Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do."

Apparently you missed something....

I question that your 'seeing these things' is inspired...or that it 'opens scriptures' in the way that some of you are doing here.

I suppose I'll have to speak more clearly next time.

What part of my walk with Christ is in jeopardy if I don't agree with the value you place on your "pearls"?

That's okay FOC...we all misspeak occasionally. No harm done. I know you believe the Scriptures are inspired I was just being being childish in pointing out the mistake. It happens to all of us. :yes

I was being flippant with "I have pearls to offer," although I do place great value on what He reveals and wouldn't trade them for anything the world offers. I don't know if anyone's walk is in jeopardy if they just see the words written or see more.

I know what I am to do in this life....

  • 1 Corinthians 4:1-2 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you though the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

When a mystery, or what I feel is/was a mystery, is revealed, I write it hoping it will help others. That is what I am to do.

  • Psalms 144:1 Blessed be the LORD my strength, Which teacheth my hands to war, And my fingers to fight:

I love that verse. :lol This method has truly helped me when I read what others share as Scripture is opened to them. We, as His children, are to do this.....

  • Malachi 3:16-17 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrace was writen before Him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon His name. And they shall be Mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.

Do you not consider Paul's letters as him speaking about the mysteries that he is a steward of? Do you know what mysteries it is that Paul is speaking of? Do you consider yourself an Apostle?
