Learning from the Holy Spirit or man?

:help Where is the scripture I'm trying to find? I've looked and looked. It's something about shouting from the rooftops what the Lord whispers to us - or maybe "puts into the ear"?

I've tried to look it up in E-Sword and also BlueLetterBible and couldn't find it. So I got out my Young's and Strong's Concordances <paper - the youths might not know what that is - but they're called "books"> and I looked up for "roof" and "rooftop" and "rooftops" and also "shout" and "whisper" and nope, I still can't find the scripture that I want.

Can anybody help me please? I know it's there. I'm thinking that my brain has somehow short circuited. Or maybe I'm just old? <<------- but I'd hate to admit that.

Matt.10:26-27 "26 So have no fear of them, for nothing is covered that will not be revealed, or hidden that will not be known. 27 What I tell you in the dark, say in the light, and what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops."

Haha..."housetops". I was thinking "rooftops" too so it took me a while (ended up searching "hidden"). Must be a certain version that uses "rooftops". Of course, that may not be the one you were looking for.

I know what I am to do in this life....

1 Corinthians 4:1-2 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

Do you not consider Paul's letters as him speaking about the mysteries that he is a steward of? Do you know what mysteries it is that Paul is speaking of? Do you consider yourself an Apostle?

Paul, as the steward of the mysteries, taught others. We, as followers of Jesus, are those the Spirit teaches and we, as stewards, as witnesses....are also to teach others. I consider myself a child of God and a witness for Him who is being perfected as He teaches me. Is this not what we all are? :yes

  • 1 Corinthians 12:29 Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles?

How does He perfect us? Through His Word, through the gospel and He asks us to "be ye followers."

  • 1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.

Who are "the fathers?"

That's okay FOC...we all misspeak occasionally. No harm done. I know you believe the Scriptures are inspired I was just being being childish in pointing out the mistake. It happens to all of us. :yes
Yeah, I remember when you posted the following:

It made me shudder to think you were willing to sacrifice the inerrancy of scripture at the altar of your own private revelation. :naughty

Psa 133:1 NKJV - A Song of Ascents. Of David said:
Behold, how good and how pleasant [it is] For brethren to dwell together in unity!

[It is] like the precious oil upon the head, Running down on the beard, The beard of Aaron, Running down on the edge of his garments.

[It is] like the dew of Hermon, Descending upon the mountains of Zion; For there the LORD commanded the blessing-- Life forevermore.

Yea! Even the beard of Aaron. Running down on the edge of his garments.

My belief? That this song (Psalm) is speaking about the anointing of the Holy Spirit and that this is what we need to really strive for. When will we as Christians begin to beat our weapons into plow-shears? Must we wait until after our Prince of Peace has returned? Are we allowed to check our weapons and make sure they are not deadly as we discuss things amongst each other?

Stop! <drop> Face to ground:
:praying Not by strength, not by might...

PS Thank you very very much Nightmare! I was being tormented: :oops "Your losing your mind... you're losing your mind... Thanks again! If it were okay for Christians to get tattoos I'd think about getting that one (Mat 10:27) put somewhere I can't say on the forum (my butt -shhhhhh, I didn't say that).

You do understand that little parts of scripture have been changed?????Some do to bad translations and just the hardship of transfering languages,,,,,and some do to scribes/fake scribes taking and adding words......I would suggest you get familiar with the languages so you will notice the obvious.....

:lol I'm sorry I caused a shudder. Apparently you recovered well. :-)

Let us take the above suggestion of Sparrow and "dwell together in unity." We may not agree but we can discuss our thoughts in a more pleasant manner. I am committed to that no matter what you decide but hope that you will agree. :yes

I can understand why you would "shudder" but please allow me to explain. Scripture is infallible but the translators and translations are not. The verse in question is.....

  • Revelation 21:10 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God.

The text DO NOT show "that great city" but read...."the holy city Jerusalem."

When our sister in Christ speaks out from what is shown to her "in secret" there is undoubtedly going to be some controversy. She's doing it in faith - and she may make some slight (or not-so-slight) error. What happens? Well one thing that happens, after the dust settles, is that she gets to go back and review. Even her staunchest enemies are able to help her because of that. The Comforter will also help her (and each of us here, of course). My prayer is that all who have contributed to this thread might do this very same thing. It's good to review with hindsight and from a calm spirit. Maybe we really meant what was said but in retrospect can tell that we didn't say it the very best way possible.

Maybe we can reflect on a deeper basis and offer thanks to our Father because our brothers and sisters in Christ are ready to forgive us for the words that were overemphasized and hurtful. Maybe we can begin to pray for each other when we see sin and trust our Father to give life. Maybe Sparrow can get off his soapbox and listen to his own advice?

Maybe. Then again, maybe not. <<------ <that message was brought to you by the "dad" in me - sorry if it offended you I didn't mean for it to --but so many of us have issues with our earthly fathers that my "dad voice" is bound to offend somebody>.
