Coneheads, yes. One of my favs.

Still looking for an answer to the trivia question.

There are several scriptures and more than one report by the different women. But when you put them all together it makes sense if one remembers that there was more than one Sabbath day. There was the Passover, Sabbath day, and the regular Saturday Sabbath. In between those Sabbath days the women bought spices for His body.

Polycarp, observed Passover on the Jewish Passover, not on the following Sunday. I don't know when the Sunday observance started I don't see it in the NT. I just see Passover.
OK, I've been doing some more research. There are theories that Christ died on an earlier day of the week, Thursday or even Wednesday. This will fit with scripture if you use a different Sabbath than the regular weekly one. So Deborah your interpretation has validity.

It also means that passages that say He would "rise from the dead on the third day" use a modern accounting, where the first day is called Day Zero. Friday then becomes the first day, Saturday the second, and finally Sunday the third day. (It is the same discrepancy that caused the Y2K scare).

So everyone can relax. For the moment anyways, Scripture remains valid. Sorry to cause an excitement. However, I wonder why there is such widespread belief that He died on a Friday?

Morgan Fairchild's real name is Patsy McClenny.

I'm actually quite relieved to find that.

It still means that the actual time is only 2.5 days, but you can round up to 3.

Surely this issue must have come up before. Why is it so commonly taught that our Lord died on a Friday? I was raised catholic, and you are taught that He died on Good Friday. How could they make such a mistake?

This, obviously will take a bit more study, as there are many things that were "adjusted" since Christianity started taking a foothold, and there were a large number of pagans they were trying to convert.

BTW, let's keep a civil tone in here, shall we. Things got a bit heated and we would hate to have to either shutdown, or clean up what is supposed to be a lighthearted thread.

Completely my fault. Please don't hold more long-time members responsible.

I think maybe we should leave Christ's exact dates of birth, death and resurrection to another thread or threads and get back to less controversial trivia questions. I believe Jason has asked about where the soldiers who invaded Normandy on D-Day trained.

Ok. Christian music trivia. Let's start with an easy one, shall we? :)

"He reigns from Heaven above with wisdom, power, and love"... are lyrics to what song?
