So what's your metaphor then brother? I can't come up with any that come close to making any sense.

No metaphor? Oh come on brother, surely you can come up with something...
:hysterical

Let's see.. Edward can't come up with any metaphors for one of his favorite controversial passages...Maybe I can help...How about...giants being people who are in control...powerful people who ruled over others...sort of like...Donald Trump being a giant with finances...this would certainly be a metaphor...and give you something else to think about...maybe word it better than I just did...what do you think?

Oh, by the way, why are you laughing?
Did I say something funny?

You might want to take a look at the non-canonical book of Enoch. It would appear that Jude quoted directly out of this book.
And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying,
Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.
(Jude 14,15).
Book of Enoch (1:9):
And behold! He cometh with ten thousands of His holy ones. To execute judgement upon all, And to destroy all the ungodly: And to convict all flesh Of all the works of their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.

Amen Brother. The book of Enoch may not be Canon, but apparently, it used to be.

Though it be extra-biblical, it is endorsed by a (spiritually inspired) author of a Canon book, through reference that you noted. That's good enough for me.

To be quoted is a ringing endorsement.

BTW, Kiwidan, Enoch did not die.

I liked your other avatar better. We're on a mission from God...lol.

The whole nephilim, fallen angel interpretation of genesis 6 discussions never fare well here on the forum because it shakes people up to their cores. I know, I've been in them and seen them closed. People get mad at even the thought of fallen angels touching our women, and rightly so too. :angry

In a way, I'm almost afraid not to even consider it, because I've heard that deception is a tool of the enemy, and I would like to take the Word of God's advice at least, so I better keep an open mind about it...because that's what it says.

Hosea 4:6
6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children./

That's scary, to me. Make no mistake about it though, I'm being perfectly dogmatic when I discuss nephilim. There's no way in the world that I could say with a certainty that the Angel view is or isn't true, I wasn't there...but still,

Proverbs 25:2
It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter./

The disciples came to Jesus privately, and asked about the end times...The very first words out of Jesus's mouth was, don't be deceived...

Matthew 24:3-4
3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.../

That's a warning. Straight from the (God's) mouth, lol. That tells me that I better take heed. If I believe that the bible is the true and inerrant Word of God (I do), then I can't pick and choose what to believe in it.
I may not like it, but it deserves serious consideration because that's what the text says. So I guess, study to show myself approved is in order, lol, instead of a knee jerk.

Proverbs 18:13
13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.../

I dunno. I'm afraid to believe it's true, and afraid not to, lol.
Before, when it was discussed, only weak metonyms were offered on the passage and it's intended meaning.
The op got me thinking about it...I'm bored...

Don't be afraid Edward, Paul gave Titus instruction on this.
Titus 2:1; "You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine".
Titus 3:9; "But avoid foolish controversies.....because they are unprofitable and useless".

That's right. A lot of Christians go into denial when the Nephilim are discussed. But "the angels which kept not their first estate" correspond to "the sons of God" who had intercourse with human women.

That's right, Brother. The angel view seems to make other scriptures make more sense. Like why would God instruct the Israelites to commit genocide of an entire people's, which question has plagued Christians for a long time...corrupted bloodlines from the hybrids.
Jesus had to be born of a pure bloodline.

The best counter to the Angel view, that I've heard, was that angels can't have sex (but it doesn't really say that, it says they are not given in marriage)...

Apparently, the Angels do...uh, have the equipment though. Back in genesis

Genesis 3:
14 And the Lord God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.../

He was talking to the serpent. Lucifer. So he does have seed...I never caught that before hearing the Angels don't have plumbing counter.

Don't be afraid Edward, Paul gave Titus instruction on this.
Titus 2:1; "You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine".
Titus 3:9; "But avoid foolish controversies.....because they are unprofitable and useless".

That's the thing though, the Angel view is sounder (so far) than any other explanation.

Foolish? I didn't start the thread.
Ya got nothing, do ya? Lol.

I think maybe limited scripture makes the mind go deluded and into fairyland.

Im not talking on here, but seems like mythical storys come out of limited scriptures.

Like Enoch for example. Two verses in the entire bible, and theres full documentries on him type thing, and the nephilim turned into ufos and aliens and fallen demonic beings marring humans. Lol. I mean, how does two verses make a 2 hour documentary?.

People go into fairyland.

I agree about how serious the issue of the Nephilim is and that single passage drives me insane attempting to help people read instead of reading into the passage what it does not say!

So Enoch walked with God and lived a righteous life, then God took him away because he died.
Does the Word say he died?

Does the word say he didnt die?. Its one sentence. When in doubt use common sense. I do not believe God magically beamed Enoch into the sky, just like the same mythical rapture teaching of Jesus beaming people into space before some tribulation.

Its very obvious the sons of God were from a tribe like Abel and after the flood Ham, and they mixed and married with people from say the tribe of Cain and then after the flood cannan. Blessed be Ham and cursed be cannan.

I dont know its just an example. They were big men like worriors, sons of God, with a reputation from early days who mixed and married the daughters of men. It doesnt say the daughters of God, righteous women from a righteous tribe. Something like that.

Like that tribe wanting to mix with Isreal and his sons, the evil guy who violated there sister.

Not that they were exactly righteous but they were seperated by God so if the mixed with that evil tribe, you could say the same thing. Isreal, the Sons of God married (enter tribe here), the daughters of men.

Ooooooo Dan, not good. The rapture will probably bypass you since you make fun of it.

The bible does not say angels have reproductive systems. The closest is Jesus saying like angels neither marry or are given in marriage.

The angels with Lot, messengers speaking through humans.

The closest it could ever get is humans with other humans who were influenced by fallen angels.

The days are shortened only because the elect. The rapture is the last trump. I dont believe and have no reason to believe in a pre or mid trib 'rapture'

Revelation 3:10 "Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth."

Revelation 3:10 "Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth."

Yes. I believe that refers to the power of the Holy Spirit, the endurance and patience of the faith.

Its hard enough now trying to get through the temptations and past the wickedness in this world and walk in Love. Its only the Spirit that keeps people. Christ will help his faithful stay firm during the tribulation until the end by the power of the Spirit.

We are in that last hour somewhere. The deception and trial is here. There is many false prophets, and teachers, and science, and world leaders, and religion all deceiving the entire world. Thats why Christ calls people to come out of her.

This has been repeated in history time and time again..

Revelation 3:10 "Because you have kept my word about patient endurance, I will keep you from the hour of trial that is coming on the whole world, to try those who dwell on the earth."

Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego: Were they removed from from the land of Babylon? Or were they kept from the fire while in the furnace? The children of Israel, were they taken from the land of Egypt before the plagues began, or were they kept from the angel of death by splashing a little blood on the door post?

There were giants in the earth in those days, and they bare children to them, and they (the children) became mighty men and men of renown.

I once upon a time believed as you do Edward, but I am no longer convinced that this was so, and in fact I rather doubt the whole fallen angel sex thing that is so often pushed. I believe what the Lord has given me to understand is the children are not "offspring" as a result of sex, but rather children in the sense of someone being mentored, or perhaps a disciple if you will. The angels who left their first estate taught the sons of men secret knowledge, and they became mighty men and men of renown because of it.

I have read the book of Enoch many years ago, and as I recall, the angels taught men things like metallurgy, war, etc.. and it was due to this that the world became wicked and violent and needed to be destroyed.

As a metaphor that we could relate to in today's world as someone who would be considered to be a might man and a man of great renown would be someone like Albert Einstein or Robert Oppenheimer. Both of whom thought of things that were outside the realms of men, and as a result we have nuclear energy and nuclear weapons, among many other inventions and discoveries. Were it not for Einstein, could we have put a man on the moon? Gene Roddenberry, where would the technology of the world today be without his vision that many of us watched as children 50 years ago. 3D printing and synthetic foods: who comes up with this stuff?
