Looking for Jesus according to Matthew

100) Looking for Jesus

Matthew 9:27-31

  • Jesus cures two blind men!
  • And he tells them not to tell anybody!
  • But they tell everybody about it!
  • It shows how extraordinary it is!
  • Something that completely changes their lives!
  • It will be the same with God’s kingdom!

- First I don't teach people!

- I read the Bible and I tell people about what I learn!

- When they ask me questions, I try to answer them!

- When it is possible to have a discussion, we have a discussion!

- If you look at the titles of my threads, I speak about the books of the Bible and especially about the faithful servants of Yah.weh!

- When it is different, it is because many people repeat the same arguments without knowing so I have to show how it works!

- It is necessary to check!

- About John 1:1, it is necessary to check through the Gospel of John about the use of the definite article or not!

- About Jesus' siblings, it is necessary to check the vocabulary used and the context in the different Gospels!

- About the reality of translations, it is necessary to analyze them!

- Before publishing a message, I usually publish the same information connected to the usual mistakes people make!

- Or important facts which must be remembered!

___________________________________________________________

  • Remember Eleazar the priest: HE TOOK A SPEAR AND HE KILLED THE ISRAELITE AND THE MIDIANITE WOMAN WHO WERE COMMITTING IMMORALITY IN FRONT OF ALL THE ISRAELITES WHEN THEY WERE WEEPING!

  • WITH ONE ACTION HE STOPPED THE SCOURGE AGAINST
ISRAEL AND YAH.WEH’S ANGER WENT AWAY!

  • BUT 24,000 DIED!

- WHAT ABOUT US?

____________________________________________________________

  • Many people think they read the Bible but when you listen to them, it is clear they don’t read it!
  • THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY TO READ THE BIBLE: TO TELL THE PEOPLE ABOUT WHAT YOU READ!
  • IT DOESN’T MATTER IF YOU MAKE MISTAKES!
  • YOU MUST DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN, THEN YOU WILL START TO LEARN ABOUT THE BIBLE!
____________________________________________________________

  • In Luke 19, Jesus tells us an interesting illustration about God’s kingdom!
  • An important man must go to a distant land to secure kingly power!
  • To his ten slaves he gives money to do business with it till he comes back!
  • When he comes back, he wants to know what his slaves have done with their business activity!
  • According to what they have done he gives them authority over cities!
  • BUT ONE SLAVE HASN’T DONE ANYTHING!
  • And he takes what he gave to this slave and gives it to the one who did the best job!
  • SO THOSE WHO HAVE MORE WILL BE GIVEN!
  • BUT THOSE WHO DON’T HAVE IT WILL BE TAKEN AWAY WHAT THEY HAVE!
  • What about you?

_______________________________________________________

  • Maybe you remember that Yah.weh prevented David from building his temple because he was a soldier and he spent a big part of his life making war!
  • Jesus clearly said a Christian can’t do that!
  • In fact, everything we hear in the first part of the Bible has nothing but nothing to do with what a Christian must or mustn’t do!
  • THUS WHEN PEOPLE USE THE FIRST PART OF THE BIBLE TO JUSTIFY ANY PRACTICE IS TOTALLY WRONG AND HAS NOTHING BUT NOTHING TO DO WITH JESUS’ TEACHING!
  • I CAN’T EVEN IMAGINE HOW IT IS POSSIBLE TO THINK ABOUT IT!

EXODUS 3:15

YAH.WEH THE GOD OF YOUR FATHERS – THE GOD OF ABRAHAM, THE GOD OF ISAAC, AND THE GOD OF JACOB – HAS SENT ME TO YOU.
THIS IS MY NAME FOREVER, AND THIS IS HOW I AM TO BE REMEMBERED IN EVERY GENERATION IN EVERY GENERATION.

Jesus had siblings :

- Guess what: the Bible is the history of the Israelites!
- Each page tells you that!
- Each story tells you that!
- Each family tells you that!
- The book of Adam's story tells you that!

__________________________________________________________________________

Remember:

  • It is likely that Matthew (meaning “gift of God”) was the name Jesus gave to Levi after his conversion!
  • Matthew was a tax collector!
  • He was also called Levi!
  • He was rich as a consequence!
  • Jesus had dinner at Matthew’s house with many other tax collectors and sinners!
  • Jesus explained that he had come to save sinners!
  • Matthew didn’t hesitate to leave his wealth and security!
__________________________________________________________________________

Remember:

  • If you think like today’s people, you will never understand the Bible!
  • They used to write differently!
  • They used to speak differently!
  • They used to think differently!
  • They used to act differently!
__________________________________________________________________________

Remember:

Biblical Hebrew has a very small number of words, about 8,000, and around 1,700 of those words are hapax legomena (being said once) in the Hebrew Bible. Modern Hebrew has about 100,000 words. For comparison modern English has over 450,000 words, and Spanish has just over 175,000 words. Standard English dictionaries typically have about 200,000 words, whereas Spanish dictionaries have about 80,000 words.

This means words often have multiple meanings determined by context.

Although yom is commonly rendered as day in English translations, the word yom can be used in different ways to refer to different time spans:

  • Point of time (a specific day)
  • time period of a whole or half a day:
    • Period of light (as contrasted with the period of darkness),
    • Sunrise to sunset
    • Sunset to next sunset
  • General term for time ( as in 'days of our lives')
  • A year "lived a lot of days"
  • Time period of unspecified length. "days and days"
__________________________________________________________________________

The Greek language is ranked as the richest in the world with 5 million words and 70 million word types. According to Dr. MacDonald, only 600,000 Greek words are used today, making the Greek vocabulary the largest in the world and 3.5 times bigger than the English vocabulary.

Though there are 138,607 words in the Greek New Testament, only 5,394 are unique.

101) Looking for Jesus

Matthew 9:32-34

  • Jesus cures a man possessed by a demon!
  • The crowds are amazed!
  • But the Pharisees speak against Jesus!
  • They know who he is!
  • And they know Jesus puts their authority in danger!
  • It is always a question of power!

102) Looking for Jesus

Matthew 9:35-38

  • Jesus spends his time teaching in the synagogues!
  • And preaching the good news of the kingdom!
  • And he cures people!
  • And he keeps saying the harvest is great but the workers are few!
  • What are we doing?

103) Looking for Jesus

Matthew 10:

  • Jesus sends his twelve disciples to the Jews!
  • They must not go to the nations!
  • They must not go to the Samaritans!
  • He sends them out as sheep among wolves!
  • They must be ready to face anything!
  • Whenever they need help to speak, Yah.weh’s spirit will speak for them!
  • They will be hated because of Jesus’ name!
  • Parents, children, brothers will rise up against each other!
  • Jesus came to cause division to the earth!
  • What about us?

104) Looking for Jesus

Matthew 11:

  • According to Jesus, every man should first look for Yah.weh’s kingdom!
  • That's the only way to prepare for the Big One!
  • Are we doing it?
  • Are we getting ready?
  • Or are we looking the other way?

105) Looking for Jesus

Matthew 12:

  • It is lawful to do good on the Sabbath!
  • Do you understand the difference between Jesus and religious leaders!
  • It is like the North pole and the South pole!
  • They are opposite!
  • For Jesus, any man is valuable and he is ready to help everyone!
  • Do you understand the difference between Jesus and religious leaders!
  • It is like the North pole and the South pole!
  • They are opposite!

106) Looking for Jesus

Matthew 13:

  • Jesus used illustrations to teach people!
  • Illustration of the sower who sows on different types of soil yielding fruit in different quantities!
  • Quite unusual but so powerful!
  • So easier to memorize!
  • Just unbelievable!
  • For those who have will get more!
  • For those who don’t have will get less!
  • For looking they don’t see!
  • For hearing they don’t get the sense of it!
  • Why? Because people get unreceptive!
  • In fact, they don’t want to understand!
  • They prefer inactivity to activity!
  • But when Yahweh's kingdom comes, it will require a lot of activity!
  • Thus those who are active today prepare themselves for Yah.weh’s kingdom!
  • Those who are inactive today won’t get into the promised land just like the Israelites!
  • It’s always a personal choice!
  • Each individual is responsible!

107) Looking for Jesus

Matthew 14:

  • Jesus is always moved when he sees crowds!
  • He feels pity!
  • And he cures their sick ones!
  • When they have nothing to eat, he feeds them!
  • The number doesn’t matter!
  • He walks on the sea as if he was walking on the ground!
  • But don’t misunderstand him!
  • When he comes back, it will be as a warrior!
  • And he will wage war on mankind!

108) Looking for Jesus

Matthew 15:

  • Jesus explains that Pharisees and scribes put faith in man’s tradition and oppose Yah.weh’s word!
  • He calls them hypocrites!
  • He calls them blind guides!
  • Those who follow them will fall into the pit!
  • We must also be careful if we don’t want to fall into the pit!

109) Looking for Jesus

Matthew 16:

  • Jesus tells his disciples to be careful about the Pharisees and the Sadducees but they don’t understand because he uses the image of the leaven which can contaminate the whole flour!
  • But Jesus doesn’t lose his patience!
  • He keeps on teaching them!
  • Thus father and Son show the same patience regarding men!
  • And he explains to his disciples that he must die and suffer but they still don’t understand!
  • They will only understand after his death!
  • And it is the same with men!
