Looking for Job

Looking for Job

Job 7:2

- Slave and hired worker!

- Here we are: “like a slave”!

- Yes, a negative vision is connected to a negative state of mind!

- In this case, your world is closed and it is really hard to get in!

- Definitely not by discouraging the person but by encouraging him or her!

Looking for Job

Job 7:3

- Job says he has been given months of futility and nights of sorrow!

- There is often one element we don’t take into account and which is essential: TIME!

- In fact, the book of Job doesn’t enhance the period of time Job had to suffer!

- Pain and suffering are difficult to bear but when it lasts and lasts and lasts!

- Here Job speaks about “months of futility”!

- Of course, he would have been more useful for him and for people if he could live a normal life during this time!

- Of course, he was trained through hardship!

- So everything is relative: one situation in exchange for another one with positive and negative effects!

Looking for Job

Job 7:4

- Job says he feels bad all the time he is lying!

- Job can’t sleep well as he “tosses restlessly”

- He has lost everything!

- He is left alone!

- There are three individuals fighting against him!

- He is ill!

- The situation deteriorates months after months!

- As if it was not enough, he can’t sleep at night: can it be worse?

- Job wants to die but he is not going to kill himself!

- On the contrary, he finds the energy to fight back the three individuals!

Looking for Job

Job 7:5,6

- Job says that his flesh is covered with maggots and clods of

Dirt and that his skin is full of scabs and pus!

- He adds that his days go very fast and that he doesn’t see any hope!

- Can you believe that: there is no future for Job, he has no hope, everything is dark!

- How is it possible that he finds the energy to fight back and with such an energy?

- Unbelievable!

Looking for Job

Job 7:7,8

- Job says that his life is like wind, that he won’t see happiness anymore and that he will disappear!

- Think that Job was used to helping people and now he is only trying to survive!

- He doesn’t have any hope, he is waiting for death!

- When you listen to his words, you see the negative action of the three individuals!

Looking for Job

Job 7:9-11

- Job is waiting for death!

- he has no hope!

- He has nothing to lose!

- The only thing left for him is to speak and defend himself!

- Job is equal to himself, he will fight till the end!

- He wants to wash his honor!

Looking for Job

Job 7:12-15

- The devil never gives up!

- He has sent the three individuals!

- He sends visions to one of the individuals against Job to terrify him at night and it works!

- The devil wants Job to commit suicide!

- He pushes him to his limits!

Looking for Job

Job 7:16

- Job has enough, he doesn’t want more!

- He wants the three individuals to leave him alone but they keep working against him!

- The devil keeps using them to strike him till the end!

Looking for Job

Job 7:17-20

- That’s the first time that Job speaks about God!

- He knows that what has happened to him is abnormal!

- He sees a strategy against him!

- Everything is made to destroy him!

- He doesn’t know it is the devil so he thinks it’s God!

- That’s why he can’t understand!

- Moreover we don’t know how the relationship between God and Job works, we only know it is a very strong link!

- We can imagine that something is wrong as if it was cut, as if the link was cut!

- Imagine the relationship between God and Adam, they used to speak directly, how would Adam react if it disappeared?

- Imagine all the faithful ones connected with God through visions or dreams and then nothing!

- How would they react?

Looking for Job

Job 7:20,21

- Job can’t imagine that the devil is after him!

- He doesn’t know what is going on!

- He can only think that God is punishing him!

- And he doesn’t know why!

- It is completely crazy and the devil knows it!

Looking for Job

Job 9:2

- Job recognizes that we are nothing compared to God, that we know nothing!

- Sometimes when we have to cope with difficult situations, it is difficult to understand what’s going on!

- Maybe if we had more information about the relationship between God and Job, it would be easier to understand why he says what he says!

- As there is a missing link, we can rely on God saying about Job that there is no one like him on earth!

- If it is not a valuable testimony, what do we need?

- It is like a lamp illuminating darkness and opening our minds to the book of Job!

Looking for Job

Job 9:3

- Simple but balanced!

- And Job knows God personally!

- The creature in front of his creator!

- And a really good one in the case of Job!

Looking for Job

Job 9:4

- What a balance “wise in heart and mighty in power”!

- What a balance “wise and mighty”

- Are there better words to qualify God?

- And Job knows God personally!

- These words are a testimony!

- Also about his faithfulness!

- What powerful words!

Looking for Job

Job 9:5

- Do we often think of God’s power?

- Like Job, we just have to think of forces of nature such as : EARTHQUAKES, VOLCANOES, TORNADOES, HURRICANES!

- We can’t control them!

- They were made by God!

Looking for Job

Job 9:6

- All the forces of nature made by God are powerful!

- Many people die every year because of them!

- And as the human population keeps growing, the death toll increases too!

- Because of human activities we may increase their consequences!

- But man always thinks of the present and not of the future!

Looking for Job

Job 9:7

- Just thinking of the sun and the stars and thus the infinite universe is just crazy!

- It reminds us that we are nothing and we know nothing!

- And the universe keeps growing: that’s completely crazy!

Looking for Job

Job 9:8

- The universe is made of emptiness and yet there is so much activity

- And everything is balanced, the whole keeps together in spite of everything going in every direction!

- And we can say the same with the oceans: they are so powerful!

- And yet the only thing we find is polluting them and destroying life inside!

- We can see the majesty of God and man appears as a rat: but he will never be able to destroy God’s creation!

Looking for Job

Job 9:9

- Just opening our eyes at night when we can see some stars!

- Everything made by God is incredible!

- We can’t say the same with man!

- On the contrary, man is a pale imitator!

- Man can only destroy and pollute!

Looking for Job

Job 9:10

- They are so great and so numerous!

- And he used all his huge army of angels!

- God’s creation is so complex that man will never understand anything!

- Only crumbs!

Looking for Job

Job 9:11

- God’s creation tells about God himself!

- We don’t understand his creation: that’s one thing!

- But God himself: no way, he is unbelievable!

- We can only approach his nature through his creation looking down!
