i put nuts as i do believe men conspire to do evil things but there's insuffiecient evidence to say that 9-11 was as inside job and i wont go there on the jfk thing or the war on terror, new flash there aint crap in afganistan(no oil) iraq was an honest mistake as we aren't getting oil from them to the best of my knowledge. Our oil mainly comes for where john's from canada. jason

You left off one of my favorites, the NASA cover-up of the "Face on Mars" being proof of intelligent life there.

The thing that makes the best conspiracy is no matter what proof is offered to the contrary, the conspiracy theory will still live on, because the theorists will simply deny the proof. The old "I've-got-my-mind-made-up-don't-confuse-me-with-facts" ploy!

Oh, one more thing that makes for really good conspiracy theories is really bad websites with day-glo graphics, shaky videos and lots and lots of ads.

My comments weren't directed towards you at all. Just speaking in a general way about a general topic in general talk. If I wanted to get that personal towards you, I'd have PM'd you. But, since I don't think you're either stupid or ignorant, don't look for a PM from me regarding it.

:topictotopic please! Address issues not people! (as stated in the ToS). If you have personal isssues, please settle them via PM, otherwise let's continue with the discussion of the OP - which is the most plausable consipracy theory, not whether people who believe in conspiracy theories are ignorant or not.

Thoughts? :D

I think we did land on the moon and....saw UFO's there! :yes (and yes, I really believe that because I saw one....however, it wasn't on the moon :lol )

The JFK assassination I believe was more than we have been told. I'm not certain about 9/11. There have been some really strange theories brought forward that have been difficult to overlook and as much as I love America....our government "ain't what it used to be."

I don't know about the most plausible but least plausible on the list is the 9/11 "cover up". To suggest Bush or anyone else in government would intentionally murder thousands of its own citizens and cause 10's of billions in damages is beyond imagination. Why is it so hard to accept that radical Islam caused the killings?

This is why I tend to part company with conspiracy theories: Because the evil US government is behind every bad thing that has happened.

I'm not sure why it is that some feel the need to blame the US government for every single tragic event that has happened, but the truth is that they do.

Is there one, even just one, national tragedy that some conspiracy theory doesn't put the US government at fault for?

Hurricane Katrina?
9/11?
Death of elected officials? Paul Gillmor, Sonny Bono and lets not forget Rep. Larry McDonald which brings me to downed airliners because we all know that George HW Bush downed KAL 007 because McDonald was on board.
Other flights that the US government brought down for nefarious reasons:
TWA 800
Pan Am 103
Flight 1549 (this one backfired because everyone lived, but we all know birds didn't take down that plane)

Death of anyone famous:
Marilyn Monroe
Elvis Presley
JFK
Billy Mays (yep, that's right, the pitchman for Oxyclean. The government killed him because if he ran for office, he would win. I'm not making this up.)

I could go on, but you get the drift.

The JFK thing and the MLK, and the Bobby Kennedy thing has always bugged me, and I mean always. Some funny stuff was going on, and and did not like or did I trust J Edgar Hoover. Do think that J Hoover had something to do with the death of them 3 ? At least 1 or 2 of them.

Did Bush hire Bin Laden and his crew to ram planes into the twin towers in order to cover up what was really going on?

To all of those who poohoo this as a conspiracy theory, don't forget that the governments report is also a conspiracy story, about 19 Arabs, who had been under surveillance, conspired together, walked onto four commercial aircraft without being detected, and without having their names appear on a passenger list. Then that they could overcome over 250 people with plastic box-cutters. And not only that, but with no previous experience of flying large jets, they could navigate from 30,000 feet and hit three out of four targets precisely, meantime conducting flying manoeuvres that fighter pilots would find difficult. Then, the amazing thing is that 7 of them survived the events and are known to be alive today.
Also for the first time ever in history, three, not two, but three steel framed buildings collapsed as a result of fire which could not possibly have burned hot enough to melt steel, and caused the buildings not to topple over, as one might expect, or to fall a little at a time, but to fall within their own footprint at the speed of gravity. And one of those buildings (WTC7) was not even hit by a plane.
Not only that, but the four aircraft disappeared completely without a trace of their 16 large engines, or any of the black boxes. This has also never before happened in history.

This theory is so amazingly full of holes that it is impossible for any sane thinking person to believe, yet that is what the official 9/11 commission report.says.

All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.

Your write up of what you just said is more full of holes than your conspiracy theory.

Hey, were those buildings meant to hold the weight of 747's? If I put a helicopter on my house, would it collapse? :yes

No he did not, that is crazy.

Wow, John. No wonder you believe in the conspiracy if you believe this. Where are you getting your information, because the claims in that you make here are provably false?
The hijackers didn't "walked onto four commercial aircraft without being detected" and their names were on the passenger lists. You can see the passenger lists on-line if you care to look them up. Plus, what "manoeuvres that fighter pilots would find difficult"?

Also, this claim that 7 of them are alive and well was put to rest a long time ago. It rose simply out of early reporting in the chaos of the aftermath, was due mainly because of the fact that some of those names are some of the most common names in Islam (akin to our John Smith) and was refuted by the reporters who made the initial reports. Here is a link to BBC on this issue:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/theeditors/2 ... ory_1.html

As far as the buildings are concerned, the twin towers didn't fall because the jet fuel "melted the steel". The jet fuel compromised the steel, then the ensuing fire of the interior contents of the offices continued to compromise the structure. These were not empty buildings after all, the floors hit by the jets were filled with all kinds of flammable material. Then the weight of the structure above the hit sites bore down on the weakened hit site until the hit site collapsed, setting off a chain reaction of sandwiching floors. In short, it wasn't "melted steel" that brought down the twin towers, but rather the weight of the towers. They didn't build each floor to withstand the combined weight of the upper stories falling on them.

As for WTC 7, I've seen several documentaries, not by "government officials", which have clearly shown why that building collapsed as well. WTC was a very unusually designed building.

I understand why conspiracists write the books and go on the speaking tours and promote the theories. They can continue to make money off the conspiracy, even when the facts prove them wrong. And the reason why they can is because a lot of people tend to believe what they want to believe. And John, let me be very clear that I'm not judging YOU as someone who ignores facts to believe what you want. I believe that you truly question the account. I just hope that you are giving just as much attention to those who are explaining why the official story is reasonable and true, as you are to all the conspiracists out there.
