Music and the Prince of the Power of the Air

The more I try to listen to the secular music that I used to like, the more I hate secular music. There is a strong spirit of antichrist throughout music. We see in Ezekiel that lucifer was set over the instruments. Music has power. Nebuchadnezzar used music as a commandment to make people bow to his idols. David used music to calm king Saul, and make the spirits leave him alone. Open your ears and you will see this battle within secular music.

A lot of bands I used to like, end up having blatant things. Examples:

"Never been a sinner, I never sinned I got a friend in Jesus" - Norman Greenbaum by Spirit In The Sky (Classic Rock)

"The Lord is my shepherd. I shall not want He makes me down to lie. Through pastures green He leadeth me the silent waters by. With bright knives He releaseth my soul. He maketh me to hang on hooks in high places. He converteth me to lamb cutlets" - Sheep by Pink Floyd [first album: Piper at the Gates of Dawn] (Psychedelic Rock)

"Well I see you’ve got your bible your delusion imagery" - Hard Believer by First Aid Kit (Indie/ Folk Rock)

"Then the piper will lead us to reason." - Stairway to Heaven by Led Zeppelin (Classic Hard)

Aleister Crowley is seen on the Beatles' Sgt' Peppers album. (Classic Pop)

One band I listened to called Neon Indian, I looked up on Spotify. They had songs titled "6669" and "Hex Girlfriend". (Indie Pop)

"I am hellbound" - demons by Imagine Dragons (Indie)

"you and I will die unbelievers" - Unbelievers by Vampire Weekend

And my most recent let down was when I went to listen to a mostly instrumental electronic artist called Pretty Lights. "I never wanted to go to heaven anyway" - Sunday School by Pretty Lights (Electronic). At this I realized why God won't soften the hearts of hardened unbelievers. They know he exists. They knowingly chose hell.

You have a subconscious. You have a mind.

Come out of her my people. Revelation 4:8

And take the helmet of salvation. Ephesians 6:17

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things Philippians 4:8

Pray for salvations in the music industry.

I used to listen to a lot of secular music too YosefHayim. I liked the music for the instrumental part and have never been able to tell what most of the lyrics are in songs because of my hearing loss. I haven't listened to any of the ones that you have mentioned but I know enough about the ones I listened to, to know that they had a anti-Christian message. I haven't been able to find very many Christian bands with good instrumentals, so most of the time I just listen to talk radio.

Keep in mind that these are the bands you chose to listen to. So, now you choose not to. That's fine. There's also a world of beautiful music done by people who may not yet know God..... or may not know Him as one of us might think they should.

Sometimes we struggle with the baby & bathwater, again. Those people are actually the ones Jesus said He came to seek out.

that is the way I see it. I don't watch much tv nor listen to much music. the radio in my truck works when it wants to. so I cant listen to teaching at all when im driving. that isn't fun for me.

When I first gave my heart to Messiah I was steeped in music because I am a musician. I too listened to all the classic rock and radio songs of the 60's 70's and 80's. My testimony in that regard is quite opposite from the OP. Like, I remember the day I was baptised, as I was riding home listening to the radio I was in such a good mood. And the most awesome thing happened to me. All the songs I heard (secular rock) were praising God! Love songs.... found my place songs..... Keep in mind, this was the gushhy 70's 80's love songs and such. All I could think and understand was 'this is how I feel about Messiah!'. Like, with or without you U2, or every breath you take I'll be watching you The Police, or we are the champions Queen, or Blinded by the light MM, Somebody to love Grace Slick, love songs like My Eyes Adored You - Frankie Valli, or Crazy on you by Heart, or I want to know what love is by Foreigner, REO Keep on loving you.;...... I could go on forever!

My point is with the Spirit inside me everything was praising God! I could see praise for Messiah in all things.....it was amazing.

Willie T I agree with your sentiment. Messiah is seeking sinners to heal and comfort. Not the righteous. Because there are none righteous here, not one. All have fallen short and need his grace and mercy.

Messiah is seeking sinners and not the self-righteous, so does he not want us to be examples and watchmen? Did he not say "Leave your life of sin"?

Most of classic rock has some sort of connection to Aleister Crowley.

Aleister Crowley crucified a frog that he had baptized Jesus of Nazareth. The man who called himself the Beast 666 offered it gold, frankincense and myrrh; he worshipped it as God incarnate and then arrested and charged it with blasphemy and sedition. He cried out:

All my life long thou hast plagued me and affronted me. In thy name, with all other free souls in Christendom, I have been tortured in my boyhood; all delights have been forbidden unto me; all that I had has been taken from me, and that which is owed me they pay not in thy name. Now, at last, I have thee: the Slave-God is in the power of the Lord of Freedom. Thine hour is come; as I blot thee out from this earth, so surely shall the eclipse pass; and Light, Life, Love, and Liberty be once more the Law of Earth. Give thou place to me, O Jesus, thine aeon is passed; the Age of Horus has arisen by the Magick of the Master, the Beast that is Man; and his number is six hundred and three score and six.

Then he condemned the frog to be mocked and spat upon and scourged and crucified, and it was done.
Doesn't seem to be praising God to me.

I see it as natural differences in views and opinions as expressed by individuals, mostly. Unbelievers tend to have pretty different views of Christianity, not all of them accurate or very knowledgeable. ...nor very positive in regards to it, sometimes.
I listen to some secular music, but to me the lyrics and the message of the lyrics is the most important part of the song. So I pay very, very close attention to lyrics. If I can't understand them, and this has become less of a problem as my ears have become more attuned to various types of music, I'll look the lyrics up.

It's kind of laughable that he chose a frog. Take a few minutes, and look up Egyptians and frog worship.

Now, if, instead, he had used a lamb.................

This is Aleister Crowley. Everything he did was pure mockery. And note that he is into Babylonian philosophy.

its the lyrics not the genre that is bad. sheesh. a lot of old hymnals are set to bar tunes. ban them all!

yes one of the plagues of Egypt was a frog, in fact each plaques was one god to another and finally the chief of them all was pharaoh. the sons of pharaoh when they died were the possessor of the diety they claim to be. kill the oldest and the god is gone.

Cool. A lot of people have no idea of that Egyptian god/curse association and relationship.

I don't know about Aleister Crowley and all (except for those Led Zepplin songs...they were into AC), but...

...even without blasphemous or occult references, a lot of pop music is just hopeless. And decidedly anti-Christ(ian) in outlook. I am gradually falling out of love w/ my favorite bands (Ladytron, Velvet Underground, and My Bloody Valentine) because...well...its depressing. And its going straight into my brain, you know?

I don't know of a good alternative. A lot of Christian pop is just Jesus+pale imitation of pop music. Maybe I should just go w/o so much entertainment. I mean, being constantly entertained is a relatively recent development in our culture, and arugably not the best one ever at that.

There's still a lot of that nonsense going on, believe it or not. I'd wager it has become worse since the days of Crowley.

The Occult is HEAVY into modern fashion, as shown above on tee shirts being worn by Jay Z, Adam Lamb and Tyler, the Creator. Just check out rocawear.com. This stuff doesn't even skim the surface, not by a long shot. The agenda is real. I've spent 4 years now in this rabbit hole and people really have no idea how terrible it is. I had to pull away for over a year, it began to effect my mental state in terrible ways.

Concerning bad genres, I'm convinced there are none. If Satan has claimed it then we will clean it up. But the most hedonistic, sexually-driven, blasphemous, brainwashing, culture-driving sounds this side of hell come through rap music.
