Narcissism

You just spoke a well understood truth in the psychiatric community. We've all "got" some of "everything" in the book, (the DSM). Just to greater or lesser degrees.
I think being self-centered is apart of human nature, it is a survival instinct. Caring for others, even at the expensive of our own desires, is something that most of us learn to do.

Maybe.

Yes,we do in a "it is all about me" world.Very sad indeed.

Again, I'd have to say that's likely a, "maybe"...... depending upon each individual, and how far along the scale of possessing certain qualities or personality traits they are inclined to find themselves.... AND whether it's an excessive or recessive degree to which those traits are bestowed upon each of those individuals.

There is no way that I will step foot in Christianity & Science

I think that this is manipulation that causes someone else pain. It is the pain of the other person that satisfies a need in them. It would be like setting up a scenario where the other person will look foolish or stupid. It makes them feel good about themselves, clever or powerful maybe, when that person is embarrassed.
oh I have done that . its called gossiping.we feel better if another is worse then we are.

Where does vindictive come in?That is a very destructive behavior and can really hurt another person.

some are vindictive if pushed. I know a few like this. cross a line and its intentional they return the favor.

Being vindictive is rather an evil emotion. It is very human to want to repay to someone the hurt they have caused us but....the Lord says....Romans 12:19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written,“Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord.

many emotions are evil. lust is a perversion of love and or desire.

The green envy...jealousy is really bad.
narcissists are most jealous. I would be LYING if I didn't say I was jealous of others at times. I try to control that but it happens.

The people who I knew who were narcissists were not that terribly jealous. They were too concerned with themselves.

they get jealous if another has more then they do and people gawk over them

Yes, gossiping can be used to hurt another person. The narcissist would need to see the hurt that the gossip caused.
This is more of what I was thinking of.
A husband and wife are at a gathering with their friends. The wife makes a remark about her husband that is demeaning. She may even laugh like she was just joking but she really wasn't. It was said to deliberately embarrass him in front of his friends. Even if he doesn't show it she knows him well. She enjoys and satisfies her need by seeing or knowing that he is hurt. She feeds off of his pain.
Another extreme example would be a person who has Munchausen Syndrome. It is similar in that they are willing to hurt their child in order to bring attention and pity to themselves. They have no empathy for the child, it's all about them.

Men and women are guilty of jealousy but I think it is more common among women. What does the Bible say about coveting our neighbor?
