New forum look

I agree with the choice to reduce graphics.... they can grind anything to a halt. But I do miss the automatic read-out of scripture when you roll the mouse over a written verse.
Yes or No on whether a person says they are Christian, I really couldn't care less.
I like the <ONLINE> feature.
I think a tally of <LIKES> is totally unnecessary, though I would prefer to be able to post in any room, and to have <LIKE> available for every post. (But I know I would find myself laughing at some of the "intellectuals" trying to impress one another in certain restricted forums.... so that might not be so good.)
I miss some of the "roll-over" ID's that have disappeared.
I think it is important to know if a person is a Christian or not. After all CF is a "Christian" message board.. right?I certainly would not post on a secular message board. Many Christian message boards have only a couple of forums that the unbelievers can ask questions. If you are going to mix secular with Christian and not know who is a believer what is the difference?

Yet, all you really know is which button they clicked on. Some of the people clicking, "No", might be more honest about their lives than some clicking, "Yes".

Often, all you are finding out is whether or not they consider themselves "religious."

or since unless we met or talk in a more personal manner we cant really know if one is a Christian at times. not saying you cant see heart issues just with the internet tis more distant.
i will take it like this. one could have a do you feel the joy of the lord button and someone could just hit yes and lie. no one would ever really know.

I have known that for a long time.I am sure there are people who click on Christian when they are not.But I can sure see it in what they post.

Then, why would having them click a button be important?

we only know each other from online time here. there are things i don't share, and i doubt im the only one that has things that if they shared they wouldn't be looked at the same.

we didn't have that here a while ago. it was on our profile as a question and we were then allowed to or not to post in the Christian only forums. but it wasn't seen openly.

I've met many people online, and IRL, not claiming Christianity, who were, in my opinion, much closer to Jesus than many devout "Religiousites" of thirty or forty years. They understood, and tried to live, the message of the Bible rather than just having memorized some words.

the church likes to assume that if we digest by rote memory the verses we pick we are closer to god. while that can be the case its not good for building proper biblical views. i had a discussion with a member of calvary chapel here and he loved the verse by verse teachings. i said that is ok but its just teaching and not mentoring. you have to have that. he said that idea eliminates the opionions on the bible. i should have said no it doesn't. we all read the bible with a lense and make it fit our views.

I disagree.A nonbeliever is a nonbeliever. You can not pair them up with a born again Christian. It is nice that they are curious about what we believe and it is a great ministering tool to answer their questions on Scripture and who Jesus Christ is.

he is talking about those that are great a quoting memory verses but have no compassion. no mercy and are either lost and don't know or very carnal.

uhm. i would fit that quite well at times since i have been here and done some of that. just saying it is a case to consider. funny how trials and hurts changes a person. made me a bit more compassionate.

Well guys are you going to bring back that part of the signature?
tob
I didn't think it was ever a part of the signature. Can't you, right now, type any religious affiliation claims you want in a signature?

Isn't the signature what you have typed that is underneath your post?

Right under our avatar there was a box that told the members if you were a Christian or not, now its missing.. Just wondering if their going to bring it back, most if not all Christian forums do that as procedure..

There are also Christians who prefer not to use that label, because it's associated with something they'd rather not be associated with. I think it would be good if people could enter their own description, rather than just answer "yes" or "no" to being a Christian. Then people could write "Christian", "Believer", "Jesus follower" or whatever description they prefer. Non believers could enter "Atheist", "Agnostic", "Hindu" or whatever else describes them.

Right that is what is missing. But I thought that is different than the signature.Like look at my signature. It is underneath what I post the Scripture of 1 Thessalonians.I don't know what that box is called with our name, when joined and the number of messages. That is where it was labeled if someone is a Christian. You would think that is somewhat important this being a Christian message board :chin
I think we need to know why it was deleted.Maybe it will be brought back and this whole upgrade is not finished.

which would be helpful when addressing them.
