What exactly do body parts have to do with what image God has?

Yeah, okay, the real question is, Does God have a man's body? Right?

I personally want to know why God would even have a body...

Think of yourself existing without a body, or not in one, and see which you think you would prefer most.

I'd much rather not have a body, because then I wouldn't have to worry about taking care of myself, nor would I feel pain. The fact is, if God exists and he continues to use a body similar to ours, he has to be lacking something up in the head, because a body only satisfys our human needs on earth, so it would be nothing but a hassle and a chore for an omnipotent being. And besides, the human brain isn't capable of containing the vast knowledge that God supposedly has.

At the risk of sounding a little rude, I have to ask:

Does God have nipples?

8-) Have you ever heard of body, mind and spirit?

:P God is the mind,The master mind behind all of creation,ect....
Jesus Christ is the body who showed us the way to God and suffered
with us,The Holy Ghost is the Spirit who leads us to all truth and comforts
us. He is a gift from The Lord Jesus. He will remain with us.

But the image/likeness is what makes man like God, so the body would not have the same purposes and functions as a human body. The image would be similar. I think you just thought of God too much in Human terms, inside the box...

So, God just likes to carry around alot of useless body organs...what a genius

Haha, BEL will call you on God bashing there, I'm sure. :-D Ya know, just ridiculing, something all atheists have perfected....heh

Anyway,

1. Who said anything about organs? I said image would be similar.

2. I didn't say I beleive God had a body.

3. Why does God only have to have things that serve a purpose? Can't a possession be owned for enjoyment and nothing more?

So, God has no skin?

2. I didn't say I beleive God had a body.

So, the bible is wrong when it says we were created in his image?

Edit: Took out something inappropriate...get too carried away sometimes...

So, God has no skin?

I dought God even has body in which He takes his form, but if He did, I imagine the body not to be human, only the image would be similar, so, regarding skin, he may have a covering, but probably not the human organ, skin....

So, the bible is wrong when it says we were created in his image?

I never said that...IMO, likeness is more correct, in which case, a body is insignificant, unless physical image was the intended interpretation.

Edit: Took out something inappropriate...get too carried away sometimes...

If you didn't type those things, you wouldn't have to edit them....Just a suggestion.

I have...and it seems to me that Darck Marck is interpreting it differently than me, so I wanted to know what he was talking about because there is no real argument if we have different meanings to the story. It's like we are arguing about the color of a zook, when I think that a zook is an apple and he thinks that it is an orange.

When I say likeness, I mean that the significance of humans being like God is more evident and important in regards to the mind, rather than the body. So, the likeness is more(or all, possibly) of the mnid and soul, than of the body.

I wonder if this stance is taken by theistic evolutionists?

If there actually is such thing as a soul, I can understand your interpretation that we are alike in that aspect...however, I think God's mind would be too great for us to share a likeness in that respect. Interpretations, interpretations.

I did enjoy the site where that came from...

Countless volumes have been written on what is meant by the statement that man is man in the image and likeness of God. This complex subject will not be examined in detail here, but only noted in passing. God is a Spirit and not a material being---we do not look like God physically. The image of our Creator which we all bear is primarily an invisible, inner likeness. In regard to attributes of personality, mind, creativity, capacity for love and express emotions, the existence of will, conscience, imagination, memory and moral responsibility, and capacity for worship---God has made us very much like Himself.

Did you forget the negative qualities of God that are synonomous with man? Examples: vindictivness, lying, murder, anger, all of which God has displayed in the O/T. It was said that God made man on the sixth day and on the seventh man returned the favor.
