Countless volumes have been written on what is meant by the statement that man is man in the image and likeness of God. This complex subject will not be examined in detail here, but only noted in passing. God is a Spirit and not a material being---we do not look like God physically. The image of our Creator which we all bear is primarily an invisible, inner likeness. In regard to attributes of personality, mind, creativity, capacity for love and express emotions, the existence of will, conscience, imagination, memory and moral responsibility, and capacity for worship---God has made us very much like Himself.

Did you forget the negative qualities of God that are synonomous with man? Examples: vindictivness, lying, murder, anger, all of which God has displayed in the O/T. It was said that God made man on the sixth day and on the seventh man returned the favor.

Gary: You obvious did not read the link.

(P.S. Still having trouble with quotes I see. It really is not that difficult.)

BTW, in Genesis, God says specifically how man is like Him.

Or was man writing how God is like man? Isn't is funny how God just coincidentally has all the emotional attributes of man? Wouldn't you expect a creator of the universe to be above all this? After all if there is only on God why would he have to have emotions like jealousy and anger, and vindictivness. How would he know how to love if he was all alone? How would he know that he was lonely in the first place? There would have to be more involved for God to have these emotions because they are not needed by him nor could he have ever experienced these. The more you think about it the idea that God was made in mans image makes far more sense than the other way around. As I said God made man on the sixth day and on the seventh man returned the favor.

Yes...what motivates an omnipotent being to do anything?

What motivates a thinking, living, intelligent, sentinent being to do anything? Perhaps humans can search themselves for this answer.

What motivates a thinking, living, intelligent, sentinent being to do anything?

We are motivated by things such as hunger, curiousity, and the desire to live. An omnipotent being would be motivated by any of these...

I dought it.

How could a being that knows everything be curious? How could a being that has no need for food be hungry? How could God be afraid to die?
