Our Cat Won't Leave The Christmas Tree Alone

LOL! We used to have a cat who did that a loooong time ago. We got her when she was just weaned and WILD! She was a farm kitten who had never been handled before, and she was crazy for a little while. We got her at christmas time too, so she was always up in that tree knocking down ornaments... she even knocked over the whole tree too once, which was really crazy because it was a real tree in a bucket of heavy stones and water. What a mess!

And that is what I am getting, a real tree and I already know that she is going to jump into that tree, she plays with everything I have had her for 2 months and she is crazy.

Handy once said something so funny about her cat and the Christmas tree I wish I could remember where :lol

Maybe you will just have to wait until it grows out of the kitten stage. We got a puppy 2 years ago around Thanksgiving and when we put up the Christmas tree he chewed up the wiring for the lights, knocked off the glass balls and broke them, and trampled the beautifully wrapped presents. But the next year he had matured and also had learned his boundaries so we have had no more problems with him. I know a dog and cat are different but puppies and kittens both have a tendency to get into much more trouble as babies then when they are grown. So in the meantime, I suggest removing breakable ornaments.

Reason #434 to own a dog and NOT a cat! (I'm gonna get another beating from Handy for this! :D) Lewis, you leave me no alternative but to bring this up at the next Man's Meeting. Men should stick to dogs, and reject these bony rodents altogether. Bleh! It's in the bi-laws for a reason. When ever I accidentally touch one, all I feel is their bones wrapped up in fur, which ends up all over me.

Please don't hate me for this. I'm trying to help you out, bro! :yes

I am now thinking of just putting the lights outside, and do the tree next year, I have not made up my mind yet. I still have to figure out if I can use something to deter Kimba away from the tree, because she is young and crazy.

I might just not put up a tree because crazy ole Kimba will jump in the tree and turn it over, and I like 7 foot live trees. Next year she should be mature enough to leave it alone, I hope.

:chair :chair :chair This is reckless defiance of our bi-laws and you're flashing it in our faces. Lewis, I can't in good conscience allow this to continue. If the Board of Men won't back me up on this, I'll just protest men. I'm prepared to establish a protestant group of men who hold true to our rules if that's what it comes to. Men don't do cats!! This is an outrage! :mad

Don't listen to Mike when he says that it's better to have a dog around a Christmas tree instead of a cat. It was the DOG that mistook the Christmas tree for indoor plumbing and lifted his leg...a very big dog at that! Sheesh, I had to clean the rug, throw away one branch of the tree, unwrap, clean and re-wrap all the gifts. DOGS! Bleech! (except my own adorable goofy mutt dog Antony! He's OK and he doesn't pee on the tree!)

Lewis, you are going about this the wrong way. Don't think of it as putting up a tree, think of it as putting up a big interactive cat toy! Make sure that it is anchored well, put up nothing but unbreakable ornaments and let kitty embrace her inner feline and have fun, fun, fun!

I mean think about it...what's the most fun part of a tree anyway? Decorating it of course! Why limit yourself to decorating the Christmas tree once a year? With kitty on the job, you can experience the joy of hanging ornaments every single day of the season! :clap

As for Mike...
Mike, Mike, Mike :shame One of these days....hopefully before it's too late!...you will learn the joys of kitties and then won't you be ashamed of the slander!

Dora,

This is a matter than needs to be handled within the group of Men. If women want to own cats, while I don't understand it, that's their prerogative I guess. But men should be men.

That said, I didn't write the bi-laws of the Mens Club. They were written and handed down by our forefathers. I simply uphold them. Ours is not to question why, only to stay within the rules that govern our kind.

No Cats!
Oh, and no "Sound of Music"! :rolling

Mike I hate to tell you this but sometimes I watch the Lifetime channel :D:):p

lewis, tsk tsk. this means the noahides will have kidnap you and force you to watch the spike channel or the another male oriented movie network.

real men dont watch chick networks by their lonesome and admit it.

Wow Lewis...Lifetime Channel!

I'll stand your back for the cats and even "chick-flicks" in the "debateable" category.

But, Lifetime? :o I think you're headed for Man-Club probation at least.
