Our Father Angry

Thank you! The one thing I refuse to do, though, is become angry with myself. Self-anger is still being self-centered, and quite frankly, others need help. So, at least I've been given that gift. It seems worthwhile to consider that if God really has a Plan for our lives, why would we become upset . . . with anything? Why fight life? Why fight anything at all?

Who is in control?

:biggrin
Our Lord is in control. He decided we all reap what we sow.
We're soldiers, following our King who defeated all the power of the enemy.
There was a comedian who told a disgusting joke about Jesus. He said, "The last time we heard about Jesus was...", then he tapped his microphone on the floor, like a hammer pounding nails. He didn't understand,

that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. 2Cor.5:19

It just knocks me out how our God loved people who sinned against him like that!

Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, Eph.6:13

Wow. This is unbelievable, as people do not understand that God sees all, hears all . . . knows all. What that comedian did was/is a very scary, and risky thing to do.

Still He didn’t tell anyone to tell God that He was great.
He inspires his people to do so,

Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! Psa.107:8
Doesn’t change my truthful statement.
Your statement wasn't true, because Jesus wasn't just some guy who spoke publicly for 3 years a long time ago.
He told men to obey God, not give lip service
I wasn't talking about mere lip service. I'm curious how you share the gospel without mentioning how great he is.

Please provide the instances where Jesus said to Nicodemus “God is great” in John 3 as he presented to him the gospel. Or how about the sermon on the mount? Where is “God is great” in Peter’s sermon in Acts 2? How did they present the gospel?

You know, when presenting the Gospel, men in the Bible didn’t see themselves as “peddling” God like a new car. God wasn’t seen as in need of people to worship Him, man was in need of being freed.

Actually, the phrase “God is great” is something I recall Muslims say a lot.

Jews were taught from childhood that God is great and greatly to be praised.

Well Dorothy, all I can tell Muslims is that Jesus defeated death and nobody can top that.

That’s not in question. They generally praised Him for what He did. That is not the main requirement God has of man. Micah 6:8
We've already established that our conduct is by our confession. If you want to walk humbly with Christ without acknowledging his greatness verbally, that's your choice.
Muslims who became Christians weren’t persuaded by that, but by other things.
You werent talking about Muslims who converted to faith in Christ. You were speaking of those who follow Islam.
I don't get your aversion to lauding Jesus' victory over all the power of evil. Strange.

This is a statement one has to think about. Our CONDUCT (which by definition is what we DO) is by our confession (which by definition is what we SAY.) Not sure I understand it.

This is also a comment that requires some thought. I suspect that acknowledging that God is great is not something that is of great value to him since it is pretty obvious. It is like saying water is wet. I do not see that this was the main focus of any who walked with him although of course they said so in times where their lives resulted in that welling up in them. But all of them obeyed God be it easy or difficult and that was more important to them and God. In Micah 6:8 he lays out what he actually REQUIRES of us. Telling Him that He is great is not on the list. Obeying Him is. As I said, anyone can say words. Words are cheap. Obedience is costly.

You really should not drop to the ad hominem attack. I would bet that I have more experience rebuking the power of evil than you do. I have cast out demons and saved a woman suffering from a demon of suicide by my obedient strategy I got straight from God. You do not know of what you speak. I do not take the matters of demons lightly nor do I think of them much but when called to battle, I am ready.

We're going around in circles. Again, I'm not speaking of being a hearer only. We're called to battle daily.

I do not see that we are going around in circles. But let me ask you, what battle with the enemy did you engage in yesterday? I mean there is the standard christian lingo whereby all the injunctions that are written are assumed to be happening daily if they are really are not and there are those who actually live out those injunctions in their choices and know WHEN they did and WHEN they did not. So, when did you engage the enemy in battle recently? Details please.
