That doesn't mean to say asking and knocking doesn't get results. During my walk I've known it to happen.

I've been told so many times that my experience could not have happened as testified. Except by those who also went through it. And not a few I might add.

There is no way anybody is going to convince me or the others that the only way to understanding scripture is by asking or knocking.

I wasn't seeking God. I wasn't seeking Jesus. At the time I could care less. And no, I wasn't going through any earthshaking problems. I felt I was doing just fine thank you. Yet, I've known those who honestly sought, asked and knocked. Some get what they sought and most don't. I can tell you not all who go by scripture as you are interpreting it receives.
Why not? Is scripture then untrue? They ask, they knock. Nothing. I've seen that many times. The Christian Talk & Advice forum and the Q & A forum have many such instances. And that's the biggest problem with teaching that you must ask and knock with no other means possible. Again, prooftexting is not understanding. It's simply putting words together in some legalistic fashion. I can do the same with any technical book out there.

And yes, it is an issue of salvation for without it I would not have had the slightest interest in the bible let alone have a strong desire to understand it. And that desire, that thirst is one you cannot ignore. It does not go away no matter how hard you try. I was weak. I didn't try.

Transgression has come to maturity. Sin has reached up to heaven. The greed of youth has matured into the sorcery of old age. The sorcerers sit in the seat of the scornful. Their message, like the 3 friends of Job, cannot convince of sin. Elihu is angry with Job for his self-justification and is angry with the 3 friends/unclean spirits because they cannot show Job his sin. Elihu's reproof prepares Job to hear the voice of the Lord 2 times. Then Job confesses and repents.

The following experience, testified by the Spirit of Jesus through the fruit picker, has come to maturity.

Amos 8:11-14
11 Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:

12 And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.

13 In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.

14 They that swear by the sin of Samaria, and say, Thy god, O Dan, liveth; and, The manner of Beer-sheba liveth; even they shall fall, and never rise up again. KJV

Joe

Job asked God why he was suffering throughout the book. But, he never cursed God. When God did answer Job it wasn't what he was expecting.

Job 40:7 Gird up thy loins now like a man: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
Job 40:8 Wilt thou also disannul my judgment? wilt thou condemn me, that thou mayest be righteous?
Job 40:9 Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?
Job 40:10 Deck thyself now with majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.
Job 40:11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.
Job 40:12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.
Job 40:13 Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.
Job 40:14 Then will I also confess unto thee that thine own right hand can save thee.

Well, that is the truth. It prophesied and it has been coming to pass before our eyes.

I cannot tell anybody what to do, or what to believe. They will in any case always ask "So what makes you right and me wrong?" So I have no answer as to why God does seem to reveal certain things, to certain people and do not show it to others. We all know that is true, because it simple to see around us. One says "God showed me that there are no prophets anymore today" , the other says " God says , that there are prophets today" God is obviously not involved in BOTH revelations.

He is sovereign and does as He pleases.

Mat 13:11 And he answered and said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
No reason given why or why not. Jesus simply walked to Matthew and called him out of the blue.

I can however relate what I believe IF I can give scripture for it. Then if some choose not to believe it, it then up to them really. I have no pleasure in arguments although on most forums you get people who really love it to win, no matter what. As long as their view is THE view, they are happy to shout you down.

People don't know and don't really care who are on forums . They might be talking to somebody who is an anointed teacher of God , but if that person will not give up the truth and step down into their doctrine , they will fight them tooth and nail. People love their opinions more than the Word, and I am generalizing now.

There are all these views. Pre-trib, mid-trib, pot-trib, OSAS , and all the rest. Well somebody is wrong and we cannot blame God. Its US not God ! If our step in what we call "faith" does not work, we should maybe start looking at us and not always seek to blame God by saying things like : His ways are not our ways , or "Maybe that was not in His will" or " I do not test God" Jesus placed the blame squarely , every time right where it belonged :

Mat 6:30 ......... O ye of little faith.

We have to face the truth that just maybe we love our doctrines more that we love truth.

Ok, lets play that little game.
So you say scripture MUST mean what it says and context seemingly has no real meaning, I guess.

So I will ask you for $500 which you can send by check, money order or pay thru Paypal.... :)
(Luk 6:30 KJV) Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.

(Mat 5:42 KJV) Give to him that asketh thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not thou away.
As I see it you have two choices.
1. Send me $500
2. Context your way out of obeying Christs CLEAR instruction above.

So which will it be, Cornielius ?
I mean, if we're going to prooftext here then the above two verses are what Im bringing to bear and I'll expect that payment by the end of the week :)

Or....

...we can admit that scripture MUST be taken IN CONTEXT and IN HARMONY with the REST...

I'm not certain what point you are attempting to make? If it is that you believe anyone thinks all scripture must have dual meaning then that is rather silly. Perhaps you missed a post on this same topic on another thread.....C wrote.....

Its simple really .
1)There are things written plainly like you say: Turn the other cheek. Give and ye shall receive. Forgive others their sins as you would like to be forgiven, and many such teachings.

2) Then there are prophesies . They have two fulfillments. One is in the letter or physical. The other in the spirit, thus spiritual.

3) The physical happens to physical Israel and the spiritual happens to spiritual Israel, whom Paul describes in Romans fully.

4) We have the whole of the Old Testament that is physical history AND also God made it for a type and shadow for us to learn from. Here we need to study the types and God the Holy Spirit, with or without the help of godly men, will teach us: 1Co 10:11 Now these things happened unto them by way of example (Types); and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come. These are hidden mostly and must be studied prayerfully.Pro 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing; But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.

5) We are told in Revelation that God gave a "spirit" to the words in the Bible. That means, that sometimes they say more, than just in the plain text. We are also told that the reason for persecution would be when people come against this "spirit" which is the real testimony of Jesus.(Which mostly deals with Christ in us the hope of glory)Rev 19:10.......the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

I'm not certain what point you are attempting to make?
WOW !
Supposedly you are privy to all sorts of 'hidden' intents in the scriptures and somehow you MISSED the OBVIOUS and EXPRESSED point in that post ?!?!?!

Uh...if anyone here is claiming a 'dual meaning' in the scriptures, wouldnt that person be you ? :confused

Firstly, since it is speaking of those who overcome, it is speaking of the life after this and not speaking of a hidden manna or hidden word that we will receive in this life. Secondly, it is error to assume that any instance of the mention of manna in the NT, or OT, is a reference to Jesus. In this verse it could simply be spiritual nourishment of some sort for those who have entered into God's presence.

Just like the OP, there are too many assumptions being made and too many connections between passages which just aren't there.
You are not giving me anything Scriptural;

1) You are also trying to tell me that overcoming is not possible in this life. (that is not the Gospel)

1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: (not in heaven) and this is the victory that hath overcome the world, even our faith.
Whether the overcoming in Revelation is in reference to this life or speaking of those who make it to heaven, is for the most part, irrelevant to this discussion. In the very least, those who are "overcomers" in Revelation are those who were going through persecution and would overcome it. In no way is it a reference to all believers unless it means when we get to heaven.

Rev 1:1 The revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave him to show to his servants the things that must soon take place. He made it known by sending his angel to his servant John,

And whether or not you think I am giving you anything Scriptural is irrelevant. I am simply stating that your understanding of what the "hidden manna" is is not necessarily the case. Too many assumptions on your part. However, if we consider Jesus and his words as the hidden manna:

1 Cor 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

This would fully support my understanding that the overcomers in Revelations 2 will be heaven when they receive the hidden manna, if that manna is Jesus.

Cornelius said:
Also , seeing that He is the Word and Manna from heaven. That scripture indeed tells us that those who overcome this world through their faith in the Living Word Jesus, will receive "hidden manna" , meaning, God will open the truth in the Scriptures to them.
God does not open all truth to everybody. You have ASK and KNOCK before you will receive and before it will be opened unto you.
Here is the very verse you used to try and prove my position wrong. I will use it to show you the inconsistency with your above statement:

1 John 5:4-5, "4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?"

As you can see, those who overcome are those who have been born of God--every true Christian. Since that is the case, we all receive the hidden manna. It follows that this is not something additional to certain persons such as yourself.

Also your claim that "God does not open all truth to everybody" is completely and utterly wrong in light of what John says. I'll put in a more logical format to make it easier to follow:

P1 According to John every Christian is an overcomer
P2 According to John everyone who overcomes receives the hidden manna
C1 It follows that every Christian will receive the hidden manna.

If "God does not open all truth to everybody" is equivalent to saying "not all Christians will receive the hidden manna", then you clearly have a contradiction.

And whether or not you think I am giving you anything Scriptural is irrelevant.

I always am concerned about being in line with Scripture. For me its never irrelevant.
I am simply stating that your understanding of what the "hidden manna" is is not necessarily the case. Too many assumptions on your part.
I have not assumed anything. I have presented solid Scriptures where Jesus Himself tells us He is the true manna from heaven. We all know He is the Word (John1) and we all know that "bread" in the Bible means "Word" and manna=bread=Jesus=Word. So without assuming anything, when I read about hidden manna, I am 100% within Scripture to say that it means "hidden word" . That is also in line with what Jesus told the disciples about some not hearing and seeing . To some it is still hidden. This is seen in the practical, when we for instance show the truth of the Gospel to a Jewish person and they cannot see Christ. It then is still hidden manna to them, even if they read the words on the same page that we do.

God then clearly makes a distinction that overcomers will receive hidden manna from Him. You have to be attentive to the fact that these are not my words, I am quoting them from the Bible, plus I am substantiating them with other scripture. There are many more if you want me to quote them too.

This mirror that Paul refers to, is the same mirror that is spoken of in 2Co 3:18 But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit.
This is who you must see in the mirror now. You are suppose to see the Lord, because according to Gal 2:20 you are dead, so you cannot see your reflection there.

But Paul tells us that this image is still dim.We have difficulty seeing Jesus in the mirror, but the Bible tells us He is in us and He is coming in us. His coming in us , is likened like the coming of the day. He is becoming clearer and clearer as we submit to the Word and as the Spirit transforms us into His image. This coming of the perfect day is the way of the righteous! Pro 4:18 But the path of the righteous is as the dawning light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day. As the dawning light, because just as the mirror is dim, the light is less at the dawn. But the sun/Son is rising in the hearts of the righteous until the ......perfect day. IN that day we will see clearly, face to face.
1Co 13:12 For now we see in a mirror, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know fully even as also I was fully known.
This must happen on earth, and God has scheduled it for the time before the tribulation. Its God's answer and grace to the horror that awaits the earth. He calls it:Col 1:27 ... Christ in you, the hope of glory: This is when this scripture happens: 1Jn 2:28 And now, my little children, abide in him; that, if he shall be manifested, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming. and this one :Rom 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God. Notice its creation waiting, not heaven.

I agree with this, the Bible say it will happen to , as you say, every true Christian.

1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is begotten of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that hath overcome the world, even our faith.
1Jn 5:5 And who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

Yes you need to believe that Jesus is the Son of God if you want to overcome the World. At least you are agreeing that we have to overcome this world IN this world and not in heaven.

Now you must look around you and count the Christians who fits this picture of overcoming the world. If it is as you say, you should have no problem. If you want to move them into heaven before they overcome, then the overcoming of the world does not make sense anymore. You already agreed that Paul said that all true Christians will overcome. I agree.

If "God does not open all truth to everybody" is equivalent to saying "not all Christians will receive the hidden manna", then you clearly have a contradiction.

As I said, if we can see these overcomers, I will agree with you. Here is a key scripture that tells us what the overcomers look like:1Jn 2:5 but whoso keepeth his word, in him verily hath the love of God been perfected. Hereby we know that we are in him:
1Jn 2:6 he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk even as he walked.

By the way we really all need to overcome.

Rev 3:5 He that overcometh shall thus be arrayed in white garments; and I will in no wise blot his name out of the book of life, and I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Blotting out happens after writing in. Writing in happens after :Mat 22:14 For many are called, ...(the word called is actually "invited" All Christians are invited to manifest Christ and to overcome )

The blotting out happens here : Mat 22:14 ..........but few chosen.

I am sure you know things that I do not know. Some things that are still not in my understanding. They are still hidden from me. Do you think you might know all that everybody else knows? Or may it just be possible that some things are still hidden to you as well.

Just today, I learned something new. On Sunday, the Lord also taught me something new to me. So I can confidently say, that some things are still hidden from me. They are life to me, so they are truly manna. To say that this is not so is to be outside of what God teaches us.

Pro 25:2 It is the glory of God to conceal a thing; But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.

I really do not think that I have discovered all that there is to know. Have you?

There is a slight problem here with some things being suggested that are important to look at. Firstly WW is being accused of applying random verses to each other that do not go together. Well that may be true in other threads i do not know but in this one it is not true. Should not the question be HOW can we know if these scriptures are about each other? Just because we assume they are not or have been taught they have a certian meaning does not mean that the connection is not there, maybe some of us just do not see the connection yet.

It appears that this chapter is isaiah is being considered( as is often taught) to be completely future in nature and therefore seems unconnected to Christ in us. The problem is this is about Christ coming the first time and what happens in His kingdom which the gentiles etc shall come to.

Isa 11:6 ¶ The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie down with the kid; and the calf and the young lion and the fatling together; and a little child shall lead them.
Isa 11:7 And the cow and the bear shall feed; their young ones shall lie down together: and the lion shall eat straw like the ox.
Isa 11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice' den.
Isa 11:9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.
Isa 11:10 ¶ And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious.

Surely we know that the gentiles already come to the root of jesse and his rest is glorious! What is His holy mountian?
Hbr 12:22But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels,
Hbr 12:23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,
Hbr 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than [that of] Abel.
This example in isaiah is speaking of the kingdom of God where the curses on the earth do not apply. That kingdom is within us as God is within us. and as C showed well from the new testament we grow up in the spirit grom babe to be weaned of the milk and grow up unto the perfect man. these are not unrelated verses.

Here is the problem:

Isaiah 11:6-8 is speaking of children, nothing more. In light of that, it is impossible for there to be some man child connection.

I have asked and have yet to receive an answer as to what is the point of this teaching?

GPRyes said:

It is about the coming of the Messiah but seeing as how none of that passage can be applied to Jesus' first appearing, nor can it be applied to us now, it can only be about his final coming. So, no, there is still no connection between the OP's Scriptures.

GPRyes said:

And yet the only time "man child" is mentioned in Scripture it means "male child", nothing more. This is why I seriously question what the point of this teaching is.

If this is leading into the man-child teaching of the Latter Rain movement, Kingdom Now/Dominion Theology, Joel's Army, etc., then it is totally in error. This is why I ask.

1Jn 2:28 And now, my little children, abide in him; that, if he shall be manifested, we may have boldness, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.
(KJV was translated according to what they thought it aught to read, not what the Greek stated. For them it did not make sense, why it it said :"If" . They thought it was talking about the coming on the clouds, so it should be "when" )

The Bible calls the man child the "first fruits" (meaning there are more to follow) Rev 14:4 These are they that were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they that follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were purchased from among men, to be the firstfruits unto God and unto the Lamb.
Rev 14:5 And in their mouth was found no lie: they are without blemish.
These are only a 144000 so it is not everybody. The Bride is not the firstfruit company.

The parable of the virgins, clearly shows that there will be the Bride, the virgins and the friends of the Groom.

John the Baptist also said he is part of the "friends of the Groom" Joh 3:29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, that standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is made full.

The man child is simply the first group in which Jesus manifests.

Look, here Jesus is telling the disciples He will first return as a "man child" born to a "woman" and He points out that the church is that "woman"

Joh 16:19 Jesus perceived that they were desirous to ask him, and he said unto them, Do ye inquire among yourselves concerning this, that I said, A little while, and ye behold me not, and again a little while, and ye shall see me?
Joh 16:20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.
Joh 16:21 A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but when she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for the joy that a man is born into the world.
Joh 16:22 And ye therefore now have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one taketh away from you.

OK, now lets look for this same picture again:

Rev 12:2 and she was with child; and she crieth out, travailing in birth, and in pain to be delivered. Rev 12:5 And she was delivered of a son, a man child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron: and her child was caught up unto God, and unto his throne.

Same picture, Jesus coming IN us. He describes it like a birth.

Ahh...so I was right. This is the erroneous teaching of the Man-child/Manifest Sons of God of the Latter Rain movement, Kingdom/Dominion Theology , et al. My whole point in this thread was to get this to come out.

"Man child" simply means "male child", nothing more. It is unfortunate that something so simple can be distorted so badly.

I haven't read any of the above. I do know that "latter rain," "sons of God" and the "man child" are written of IN THE BIBLE, and therefore believe it should be studied. I am still learning about this, for I used to feel as you do now, but once it is opened it is amazing what you see in the Word. I just completed......Isaiah teaches us of the manchild in answer to your previous questions, "What do you mean "He returns in some of us"? What do you mean "He returns in the man child"?

Ahh...so I was right. This is the erroneous teaching of the Man-child/Manifest Sons of God of the Latter Rain movement, Kingdom/Dominion Theology , et al. My whole point in this thread was to get this to come out.

"Man child" simply means "male child", nothing more. It is unfortunate that something so simple can be distorted so badly.

Why erroneous ? Its only erroneous to those who deny these Scriptures. I posted before that I do not adhere to the so called "Latter Day Movement". In fact I believe they are in error. They taught that this has happened already.

Don't call something erroneous just because you have not been taught about it, or that your particular denomination teach against it. How on earth can you say that the Bible does not teach about God manifesting His sons? Rom 8:19 For the earnest expectation of the creation waiteth for the revealing of the sons of God. So you are saying that Paul taught something that is in error.

Also , you are saying that the Bible does not teach the latter rain? Tell me, who is the "he" that shall come as the latter rain here ?

Hos 6:3 And let us know, let us follow on to know Jehovah: his going forth is sure as the morning; and he will come unto us as the rain, as the latter rain that watereth the earth.

So you are teaching that Hosea is wrong about this.
