Paul's New Covenant Theology

When Jesus died on the cross God tore the veil that covered the Holy of Holies from the top to the bottom, Matthew 27:51. The Holy of Holies was the most sacred place in the temple. This signified the end of the Old Covenant and the beginning of the New Covenant. Under the New Covenant God is present with his people by the Holy Spirit and not in the Holy of Holies. This was a radical change from the Old Covenant.

Under the New Covenant the Holy Spirit is only given to those who hear and believe the Gospel, Galatians 3:2. It cannot be obtained through works or obedience to the Law, Galatians 3:5. Under the New Covenant righteousness is not by works or obedience to the law, Righteousness is by faith in Christ and his Gospel, Galatians 3:6-9.

The Gospel is a declaration from God that his Son Jesus Christ has victoriously defeated sin, death and the devil and now sits in heaven as "The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords" Revelation 19:16. God sees ALL THINGS in his Son Jesus Christ. Jesus is God's new humanity. All that are "In Christ" are part of God's new humanity, 2 Corinthians 5:17. "Old things have passed away; behold all things have become new".

God and his Son Jesus Christ like new things. In the Gospel we have been crucified and resurrected with Christ, Romans 6:3-7. This is how we have become new creations in Jesus Christ. The Gospel is spiritual, only those that are indwelt with the Holy Spirit can understand it. This is why Paul said, "If our Gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost" 2 Corinthians 4:3. God is not in the business of rehabilitating lost souls through religion. He puts them to death and resurrects them in Jesus Christ, Romans 6:5.

God is angry with those that have rejected the New Covenant and continue to live according to the old Covenant of laws, rules and religion, Romans 4:15-16. To reject the New Covenant is to reject Christ and his Gospel, Hebrews 4:2-5. In the Gospel Jesus justifies the ungodly, Romans 4:5 and reconciles us and the world unto God, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19. Jesus does this by his life, death and resurrection, making us complete in him, Colossians 2:10.

On the night of Jesus death, surrounded by likely over a million of God's people, Jesus made a covenant with his faithful apostles. They would sit on thrones under his kingship. The Bible later reveals what their assignment will be, and the number of them and where they will reside. The covenant was only with them, and though only few in number, they are not the only sheep Jesus has Bob. Jn 10:16 We cannot choose to be recipients of that covenant, God chooses those who will rule with Jesus in the Kingdom.

Excellent point that God does not rehabilitate the new believer in Christ, the old man in put to death with Christ on the Cross, buried with Him, and raised a new man in Christ.

It's not possible for the sinner to be rehabilitated, he must be put to death with Christ and raised a new creature.

God has chosen all of humanity in his Son Jesus Christ. Jesus is the savior of the whole world, John 3:16-17. Salvation has been provided for everyone, Hebrews 2:9. Even small children can believe and be saved, Ephesians 2:8. It is the gift of God.

Right. Many are trying to rehabilitate themselves through works, laws and religion, not going to happen that way. Faith in Christ and his Gospel is the way to eternal life, Ephesians 1:13.

Yes sir very true, it is offered, and everyone that accepts is saved through Jesus, but why does the vast majority reject salvation? I am a bit confused by that Bob.

Man's Adamic nature is arrogant and proud. Many are trying to save themselves through works, laws and religion. They are to proud to accept God's free gift of salvation, Ephesians 2:8. The rest don't want to give up their sins.

Many say of me that I am arrogant, and I am definitely proud. I will gladly accept the free gift of salvation when it is offered to me. I agree that many do not want to give up their sins, and then there are many who struggle greatly to overcome their thorns in the flesh which we all have sir. None of us have the power to stop sinning, but all of us have the power to not commit serious sins. Serious sins are a choice Bob, and God always makes the way out if we choose to accept it. Most of the time the way out is a simple walking away, but in the most severest of case, it would be giving our life. Although there are those that can kill us, they cannot take away our chances for the real life to come, in fact if we are executed for Jesus' sake, they likely secured it sir.

God's great free gift of salvation is already being offered to everyone. The law has been fulfilled and abolished, Romans 10:4. All sin has been atoned for, Jesus is the savior of the whole world, 1 John 2:2. All that one has to do to be saved is to accept what God has already provided for us in Jesus Christ, Ephesians 2:8.

I agree, however I likely would disagree with your definition of accept Bob.

Nothing is ours until it is received by faith. If you don't believe and accept what Jesus has done for you, you will not be saved, John 1:12.
Are you aware that faith is created inhumans Robert Pate? I do not disagree with what Pro 21:2 brings out about people, nor what the Bible says at Rom 3:10 either. But understanding comes into play sir. Faith has to be accurate! Those whom Jesus rejected at Mat 7:21-23 had remarkable faith, way more than I have, but they of course was not saved.

So you are indicating you believe and accept what Jesus has done for you, so my question what is it he has done for you? Please do not take this as being rude, but do you know what the primary reason is that God sent him here to earth? I will give you a hint, Jesus himself stated the reason.

In Jesus Christ I have been justified, sanctified and redeemed, 1 Corinthians 1:30 and stand before God's Holy Court as perfect and complete in him, Colossians 2:10.

We all who are in Christ, have the power to reign in dominion over sin in our flesh, by walking according to the Spirit.

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
Romans 6:12-14

I think it would really be nice to know someone who is without sin JLB . One day I anticipate that everyone I know will be, but I anxiously look forward to the day I meet my first one sir.

Where did I mention that we are without sin?

Our physical body contains sin.

Therefore we who are born again and have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, are called to walk (live our lives) according to the leading of the Spirit within, rather than walking (living our lives) according to the sinful cravings of our flesh, so that we practice the works of our flesh.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Galatians 5:16
