Paul's New Covenant Theology

New testament is simply a term that got applied to the Greek Scriptures somewhere along the line Robert. The 66 books of the Bible make up the Bible sir, and much of the Old Testament still guides us. True, we Christians do follow the New testament predominantly because it contains the new commandments for God's people.

I agree with you fully though Robert, it is a manual for our lives.
Under the New Covenant Christian don't live by laws, rules and commandments, instead, they live by faith in Christ and his Gospel. Remember, where there is no law, there is no sin, Romans 4:15.

What is your take on Heb 10;24,25 sir, commandment or option? How bout Luke 22:19 since we are quite near the passover?

Hebrews 10:24-25 is law. Paul was a teacher of the law as well as the Gospel. There were many unsaved or new Christians in Paul's congregation that needed to be told what to do. Mature Christians don't need laws or rules, 1 Timothy 1:9. Nothing wrong with taking the sacraments as long as you don't believe they are going to make you holy. Jesus said, "Do this in remembrance of me" Luke 22:19.

I am glad you understand Robert, they are not optional.

We don't do anything to make ourselves acceptable to God. We are accepted in Christ, "Wherein he has made us accepted in the beloved (Christ) Ephesians 1:6.
What is your take on these passages Robert?
Mt 13:18 Hear then ye the parable of the sower.
Mt 13:19 When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, [then] cometh the evil [one], and snatcheth away that which hath been sown in his heart. This is he that was sown by the way side.
Mt 13:20 And he that was sown upon the rocky places, this is he that heareth the word, and straightway with joy receiveth it;
Mt 13:21 yet hath he not root in himself, but endureth for a while; and when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straightway he stumbleth.
Mt 13:22 And he that was sown among the thorns, this is he that heareth the word; and the care of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
Mt 13:23 And he that was sown upon the good ground, this is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; who verily beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

James 4:8 gives us the admonition to draw close to God, and then promises that if we do, God will draw close to us. This indicates to me that we are very involved in our relationship to God sir. What are some things you would consider that would be included into drawing close to God Robert?

In the parable of the sower the seed is the Gospel. The parable describes how the Gospel is received.

We draw close to Christ by embracing his Gospel as our only means of salvation.

We don't do anything to make ourselves acceptable to God. We are accepted in Christ, "Wherein he has made us accepted in the beloved (Christ) Ephesians 1:6.
We believe we are accepted in the beloved, to be holy and without blame before Him in love.

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

When accepted in the BELOVED, the BELOVED do these:

1 Corinthians 10:14 Wherefore, my dearly beloved, flee from idolatry.

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.

2 Corinthians 7:1 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Colossians 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

2 Thessalonians 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

Hebrews 6:9 But, beloved, we are persuaded better things of you, and things that accompany salvation, though we thus speak.

James 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.

James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:

James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?

1 Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;

2 Peter 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:

2 Peter 3:14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

2 Peter 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

1 John 4:7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.

1 John 4:11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.

3 John 1:11 Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.

Jude 1:3 Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.

Jude 1:17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;

Jude 1:20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,

After 50 years of studying the Bible, I should have a good grasp of it. Listen to the elders, 1 Peter 5:1.
I would certainly think so. But of course having a good an accurate understanding of the Bible is where you received the understanding of it's counsel sir Isa 2:2,3

Truth must be sought after. You must have a desire to know the truth, even when it proves you wrong.

Truth is when there is more than forums words and tongues done:

John 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

John 18:37 Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth my voice.
38 Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.

1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

Truth must be sought after. You must have a desire to know the truth, even when it proves you wrong.
Yes sir, I fully agree. And based on your desire, if it is honest, God will give you so much spiritual food, you will not be able to partake of it all. He provides in abundance.

The Bible is a spiritual book that was written by people that were indwelt with the Holy Spirit. Many religions have their own writings because they don't like the Bible.

The Bible was authored by God, penned by His people, for His people sir. It was completed in the first century, but was not compiled into book form until centuries later. Jesus assigned a faithful slave to feed his sheep, not inspired writings, but progressive understanding as God revealed His truths. Jn 21:17; Mat 24:45-47; Pro 4:18; Dan 12:4

We have God, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Spirit, regardless of whether or not we have "the inspired writings". You can be illiterate or not own a Bible and still be a Christian!

Not an informed one. Missionaries have reported that people who live in remote places on the earth already know about Jesus and his Gospel. When asked how they know, they say it's written in the stars. I have a book, "The Gospel in the Stars" written by Joseph A. Seiss. He was a Lutheran preacher from 1823 to 1904.
