Oh yes, they get the bad weather.Very pretty there but not a place to navigate in your car in the winter.Troutdale gets a lot or wind as well.Ever been to Hood River? That is a cute little town.

Ever been here?

Mount Hood 8500ft south side. That glacier to the right is little zigzag approaching the zigzag glacier.

Again about 9000ft directly north of mississippi head. Your looking at crater rock to the right, illumiation to the left and the zigzag glacier almost melted (earlie sept). I had about 500ft to go to cross the pass between ZZ glacier and MH but it was too late in the day to proceed. Had to go all the way back down to the ZZ river and hike back up the canyon out the PCT.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times! I was close to a train crossing, had to wear ear plugs to sleep. BUT I live on a hill with a view of the river and the mountains. The best part of waking up was opening the windows or doors and smelling the mountain air.

Yes,several times.Timberline lodge is nice.Kind of spendy to eat there though. You start to see the desert East of Mt.Hood.What is really a nice drive is to head east on SR-14 on the Washington side from about Vancouver,Wa eastward.Very pretty drive. You want to do it in the summer because it is rough driving in the winter.

Yes, I minister to a small hebrew roots group in HR. I love the gorge, but I miss the valley.....

What do you think those pics are? Timberline lodge is only 6000ft.

I"ve not sumited, no.
It can be a very dangerous climb. You really have to know what you are doing. Many have died trying to climb it.

That is the truth. Every year someone dies up there. But that's because it's one of the worlds most accessible peaks.

Oy home........I prefer a mountain top thank you. Ever been there Kathie?

Now this is what I would like to do...Cruise to Alaska
