Re: Earlobe enlargements: who has them/ would consider them?

..but can you understand some Christian young people wanting to do it, though?

Blessings.

Not sure if I do or not...... I think young people should focus more on pleasing the Lord and serving him, more then how "cool" they will look with spaceship size ears.....:chin:study

Man:

Well, I guess the point would be that if they know that they would easily be able to get into conversations with other young people about large gauge ear piercing with an awl as practised in the Old Testament, then maybe some might be motivated.

(Not as if it's permanent, in any case, unless you go larger than a 2 gauge, usually.)

Blessings.

Re: Earlobe enlargements: who has them/ would consider them?

I've seen the fake ones that look like they enlarge the earlobe but actually just put a pierce in the ear. That doesn't make it any less disturbing to me. This still comes down to a matter of the heart to me, but it is very hard for me to even look at. I REALLY hope this is a fad that comes and goes quickly.

Mike: Ty for your comments.

I see that you find it disturbing; well, okay.

My observation would be that in the Old Testament, when bondservants had their ears pierced with an awl, they would not necessarily have worn a ring in the hole. Rather, the hole itself was intended to be big enough to be visible.

So I find it hard to be disturbed by an inherently visible hole, or one big enough to hold a plug.

(I do find the really huge ones strange, though.)

Man,

I agree with what you said. :thumbsup

When it comes to body modification, I like to consider the words of Paul when he said, “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.†(Rom 12:2, ESV)

Hi, & thanks for your comment. I, too, find the really big ones strange.

I guess, since it may be inferred that the bondservants in the Old Testament had their ears pierced with visible holes, it's would be hard to argue that at least visible holes are unethical, or whatever.

Blessings.

You're right. From now on I will close my eyes everytime I have to go buy new clothes...so i'm not tempted to try to look cool.

Here's hoping I end up in the male section of the store..

=P

Re: Earlobe enlargements: who has them/ would consider them?

Man:

So maybe you mean, if enlargements are done in moderation, you don't necessarily have a problem with them, either?

No, I was saying nice, to Destructus86's comment about shopping for clothes that help make "you" (the shopper) look cool.....:toofunny

Man:

Oh okay. I know some men don't like earrings at all, whether rings or plugs.

Stud, ring or pendant in ears: which?

So, which do folk prefer to wear? (those with pierced ears to do it, that is?)

(Poll also...)

Re: Stud, ring or pendant in ears: which?

LOL I do wear earrings, one in each ear, usually studs as danglies tangle in hair and get munched by the headphones in the sound booth.

faeriecat:

Yes, you're right to raise an interesting point. The only problem with multi-piercings is that you might not be able to wear headphones when listening to heavy metal.

Blessings.

Re: Stud, ring or pendant in ears: which?

I don't wear earrings currently, but I think I'd probably prefer studs if I did.
