I kinda need to re-ink one of my tattoosBut it's in a super painful spot! lol
Yes, you're right, it IS necessary sometimes to keep a tattoo looking fresh.
I'm sure that an experienced tattoo artist will be able to do it as sensitively as possible with a gently applied needle; maybe even with some DrNumb cream that will prepare the area first.

Yes, you're right. And this is also why women can often make excellent tattoo artists, because they often have an appropriate combination of precision and gentleness with the needle on the skin.
This is why I happen to think that more Christian women with an artistic flair should maybe consider it as a career, especially what with the potentials of faith based tattoo designs.

You might want to 'phone around a few parlors. But, yes, women are under-represented in the profession, although many women would excell in it.

I care about the reputation and practices of a parlor above whether the artist is a guy or girl.
Next year, I will put aside some of my recreation money once a month to save up for the next tattoo(s) I want. For now, I need to keep money aside for Christmas presents. I loooooooove Christmas!!!

I love Christmas, too (and we are already doing our Christmas card list!)
It's a good idea to set aside money, little by little, for one's next tattoo, like you say.
Yes, it's the reputation of the parlor and artist rather than the gender.
Some women tattoo artists do have a light touch, of course, and this can be especially helpful if the desired placement is in a sensitive area.

I personally do not encourage tattoos because our body is the Temple of God. In Leviticus 19:28, the Bible says, "Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the Lord."

I agree that our living testimony shows others that we belong to him above any tattoos we may have.
I also think that tattoo's are apart of my generation and that they can be used to relate and witness to others. I feel I may be more approachable by certain people because I have tattoo's.
But, I respect the opinion of your conscience. I am not judging you. Everyone must work out their own salvation.

Hi Nathaniel:
Leviticus 19 also says in an adjacent verse that men should not trim the corners of their beards. How many preachers shave? I wonder if the context is Old Testament Jews in the land under the law.
Galatians and Romans make it clear that New Testament believers are not under the law in any case.
Some Christians find faith based tattoos to be very effective convesation-starters in witness.

Well, exactly.
It's what so many people do, starting at one's 18th birthday, often. And for Christians if the design can be faith based, then like you say it can speak clearly to the same generation. It's a very effective conversation-starter.

I agree that having tattoos may help us be more approachable. However I do not, in my opinion, believe that that should be the way we witness. I do not believe that it is best for people who desire a better life come to church, only to find that we do things just like them (the way we dress etc.). A candle does not spread the light by conforming to the darkness, but by being the brightest light it can be, being separate from the others.
Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and praise your Father which is in heaven."
When people see our lives which are so different from theirs, and the joy that we have, they will be drawn to it.
To clarify, I am not judging anyone and I respect them.

What do you make of preachers who shave, telling people not to have tattoos? (Another way of putting it: how do they pick and choose which part of Leviticus 19 to beat people with?)

We should quit teaching people to forget justice, charity, honoring, mercy, holiness and compassion onto others.

You didn't quote all the verse, particularly the ones adjacent to the ones sometimes interpreted to be about what we now call tattoos (though these were in the context of pagan necromancy in any case). I mean, the part about not trimming one's beard. Do you hold not shaving as being in force today? this is my point.
